This song was composed in honor of my ancestors the Dacians. For this song I've used tribal drums, Bucium (ancient Dacian wooden lur) and the rhythm is inspired by traditional Balkan music and Kaval flute which is a chromatic end-blown oblique flute traditionally played throughout the Balkans.
The Dacians, a very important Indo-European people of the ancient world, were, like all Indo-European peoples, highly trained in the art of war. The legends of the ancient world placed the worship of Ares/Mars, the god of war, in the world of the Thracians, the Dacians being the most important of the Thracians, by the creation of a state and by their remarkable civilization, where war generated rank. The Dacian leaders, military aristocrats, Tarabostes are similar to the Bharathi of the Aryans, therefore the accounts of Herodotus, the father of history, who called the Thracians (including the Dacians, the northern Thracians), “the most important of the Indo-Europeans, after the race of the Indians” (i.e. the Persians and the Aryans, their relatives), also have a military meaning. The totemic symbol of the wolf was much present in Europe, especially with Indo-European peoples, like the Spartans, the aristocrats of war, but mostly with the Romans, the gendarmes of the ancient world. But the Dacians honoured this majestic animal above all, not only as a symbol of the state, but also, apparently, as their eponym. As warriors, the Dacians lay under the sign of the wolf, their battle flag, and acted like real wolves against their enemies, whether they were Celts, during the reign of Burebista, or Romans, during the reign of Decebalus. The Dacians made history in the military art, being perfectly integrated, after the Roman conquest, in the largest and best trained army of the ancient world, the Roman army. Moreover, the wolf warriors, mastering the equestrian art, were a success in the special, though auxiliary troops of the famous equites singulares in the Roman army. If the Romans were the eagles of war, the Dacians were its wolves, these two symbols best illustrating the military art of all times.

Interesting to see what appears to be the head of a carnyx which is a Celt instrument used during wars apparently.
I believe I have read more than once the Dacians were/are considered a Celt tribe originally (??)...one of many but Celts none-the-less...as were Thracian's. The music is very nice and have sent it to a grandson who is Dacian....and yes I hear the carnyx in the music. Very nice.

      @@kathywolf4558 Hello.
First of all the Dacians were not Celts. It's true that over time these two cultures have had contact with each other maybe sometimes coexisted but more than anything they have clashed.
The Dacians were an ancient Indo-European inhabitants of the cultural region of Dacia, located in the Carpathian-Danubiano-Pontic area.
They are a subgroup of the Thracians, and are described by Herodotus as being "The most manly and just of the Thracians " .
This area includes mainly the present-day countries of Romania and Moldova, as well as parts of Ukraine, Eastern Serbia, Northern Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Southern Poland.
One of the most powerfull Dacian kings called Burebista directed a policy of conquering new territories: in 60/59 BC. from the west he attacked and defeated the Celtic tribes of Boii and Taurisci,
who lived on the banks of the Danube and in what is now Slovakia. After 55 BC and probably before 48 BC., Burebista conquered the shore of the Black Sea,
seizing the Greek fortresses from Olbia to Apollonia, as well as the entire Pannonian Plain of the Balkans.
The wolf-headed wind instrument that you identify as a Celtic Carnyx is actually called Draco and has a wolf head in the top, symbolic animal of the Carpathian people.

This wind instrument has the form of a dragon with open wolf jaws containing several metal tongues. The hollow dragon's head was mounted on a pole with a fabric tube affixed at the rear.
In use, the draco was held up into the wind, or above the head of a horseman, where it filled with air and gave the impression it was alive while making a shrill sound as the wind passed through its strips of material.
The Dacian Draco likely influenced the development of the similar Roman draco.

These wind instruments may have many similarities in terms of their use, but let us not forget that Scythian, Sarmatian and Parthian also used these wind instruments,
and later the Romans also introduced them, probably after the conquest of Dacia.
So yeah, the Dacians were a very important people in ancient world. There's soo much history aboth them. Cheers

@@PawlDBeats Thank you. I have been studying the Steppes and the peoples thereof. I have read a couple of papers saying different things. Trying to learn facts from ancient times to present. Very interesting. I have read the Celts and others have had a lot of contact through trade, wars etc...and intermixing. Trying to sort where everyone "came from" including trying to get correct DNA migration patterns. Thank you for the info.
My Grandson would teach me but he is a professor who has no time LOL!
The carnyx is a very interesting "beastie". I learned more about that instrument from you and I thank you for that too.
Like the music you produce. And thank you for sharing that with all of us out here.

It was a great song, btw dont be afraid to use bagpipes if you make more in the future, it is know that Dacians/Thracians used bagpipes before they where a thing in Britania. The poet Ovidius wrote about them and his description resembled a bagpipe, he said they where nosy and unpleasant for him. After the Dacian conquest and some of the warriors where deported to serve in Britania it become to appear bagpipes during the same period in Roman art in sculptures and other works. Some historian believe the bagpipes where spread in the Roman Empire, by the Dacians.

    • @GigGgles
      @GigGgles 2 месяца назад

They would be refering to the Scythians who had the pipes and influenced those around them. Highland pipes wouldnt be accurate however.

I disagree with you on sparta written passage of the wolf was symbol of them or people or country. Its was an ancient Greek lion that was rare even in Leonidas days and I think it was like a pet or like spartan pit most likely the animal in the pits was that species of ancient greek lion now extinct but even in fossilized evidence of such animal lived during spartan age or before the time of Xerces. For 300 movie it was an guess of a wolfs of symbolism of Sparta nation etc. More evidence leads to lions especially in the ancient world. Pets to kings, executioners such days of Daniel the phophet and in like pits and chains such animals existance was for example and in visions of old especially Leonidas feeding his lions in the pit where Persian asked him why the male is chained up and females etc.🦁👑🦅
