Cliff try some Skratch Labs hydration mix... Can usually be found at local bicycle shops or online. It tastes really good and less sugar than Gatorade. I myself can't stand those tablets, but they work in a pinch. The Skratch Labs is what I use for long hot rides on my bikes... I'm in Florida so I do what I can for heat management and hydration needs. Plus, the ole gallon of water a day is important just for day-to-day hydration, especially leading up to the event. During the event try to down 20oz of water an hour and more if you are a heavy sweater. I will usually down a plain bottle of water and the next will be one with a mixture in it. Good luck.
I like smart water. but I don't drink very much water, I mostly drink coffee in the morning and alcohol in the evening. I probably would be healthier with more hydration.
Cliff, if you're open to suggestions, you could talk about the differences between the 987.1 and 2 and why .1 is not a great choice for a track car. I bought my '06 Cayman S before I knew anything about this and I'm getting ready to do all of the required oil system upgrades to keep the engine safe. and probably won't track it anymore anyways.
I’m glad your okay, Cliff. I’ve never done a track day/don’t know if there are briefings, but do the people who run the event advise participants about dehydration? Is dehydration par for the course at track events?
Every track event I've been to included a driver's meeting at the start of the day. A warning about dehydration is often part of the meeting. However, tbh, most drivers who've been to more than a couple events aren't really paying attention any more.
One of the first things I plan for is hydration. Gatorade and water the night before and at the track plenty. Floridians typically know you’ve gotta hydrate.
Every track or autocross I've attended it's mentioned in the drivers meeting. I noticed I would get thirsty and get dry mouth after a session even if I wasn't hot. I'm curious what causes this symptom for me. For years now, I've been taking my own cooler with water and Gatorade to an event. It's an essential part of my checklist. I always drink a 10 oz bottle after every run. I feel much better overall throughout the day than when I didn't drink.
@@DC5Brandon I think the new wisdom on Gatorade is that it doesn’t work nearly as well as we thought it did for hydration. It’s a hell of a lot easier to pound Gatorade than water, though.

@@CliffsGarage I suppose you can get away with downplaying hydration management until you can’t.
