Hey! The semesters are 8 months long and the spring/summer break is 4 months long. You can find more information regarding the breaks and semesters in our academic calendar: www.ucalgary.ca/pubs/calendar/current/academic-schedule.html.
Hi, I got into U of C's Computer science bachelor's program with a partial scholarship. Could you talk about this uni's academic and internship opportunities? I am currently facing very hardship deciding uni. Some people are deterring me by saying UCalgary is not a wise choice if I am interested in "Artificial intelligence" and "Machine learning". Is that true? Apart from Calgary I got into University of Alberta, York, Western University, and Queens
Hi Susmita, Firstly, congratulations on being accepted into the Computer Science program at the University of Calgary with a partial scholarship!! Regarding academic opportunities, the University of Calgary offers a well-rounded and comprehensive Computer Science program that covers a range of topics, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The university has a strong reputation for its research and innovation, particularly in the field of AI and ML. Students can take advantage of various research and academic initiatives, including access to cutting-edge technology and equipment, collaborations with industry partners, and opportunities to work on real-world projects. As for internships, the University of Calgary has a strong network of industry partnerships and often collaborates with companies to provide students with hands-on work experience and opportunities to apply their knowledge. The university also offers a variety of career services, including career fairs, resume workshops, and mentorship programs, to help students prepare for their future careers. Regarding your concern about UCalgary not being a wise choice for AI and ML, this is not necessarily true. The field of AI and ML is rapidly evolving, and many universities are making significant investments in research and development in these areas. It is important to consider a variety of factors when making your decision, including your personal interests, academic goals, and the resources and opportunities available at each university. Ultimately, the best university for you will depend on your individual needs and goals, costs, and whether you have family here. I would suggest doing some more research for each campus and speaking with current students to get a better understanding of what each university has to offer. Would be happy to chat more about your decision, let me know. Best of luck in your decision!

@@susmitachakrabarty3268 its a great choice welcome to Canada. Im sure you will enjoy slow paced life in Calgary. If you like happening city go for toronto or vancouver thise sre great citirs with lot more oppurtunities than calgary but they are extremely expensive if funding is not an issue then look for Toronto. If you take my word Calgary is little behind then two other cities but its wortful to be in Calgary esoecially on scholarship.
Hey, thanks for reaching out. I don't remember the hours in detail; however, you have to complete several modules related to leadership and safety and then you have to be available for two days before orientation for in-person training and for orientation, which takes place over two days.
