Air Chess Pieces: Wind Pawn -Whenever Wind Pawns move, they have a 30% chance to get pushed by the air and move one extra move. If a stronger piece is blocking the way, it won't get the extra move. When promoting, you can either choose the normal pieces or the air pieces. Aerial Knight -Aerial Knights can fly anywhere and take any piece (except for the king), having a 5% chance of succession. If it fails, the knight will give up its move. It can always move normally by the way. Cloud Bishop -Cloud Bishops cannot be taken but also can't take any pieces, unless if a certain number of moves are done. The cloud will wear off, causing it to be an ordinary bishop. PASSIVE: Rainfall -Sometimes for a random number of moves, rain will take place. Rain will wet all the enemy's pieces. Rain will reduce the tile of moves they do. For example: The pawns' starting move will always be 1 tile if they're wet. Knights instead move in a shorter L shape like ㄴ if they're wet. Bishops move 1 less space Same with the queens Kings can only move diagonally if they're wet. If there's no moves that the king can make, it can move in a horizontal/vertical line. PASSIVE: Thunderstorm Thunderstorms have a 20% chance to strike. They can affect your pieces and the enemy's pieces Thunderstrikes can take and spread to other pieces including your piece. Void or Abysall Chess with void dimension. You chose what the pieces do. King when moving have 25% to spawn a portal to void dimension. If you are in the dimenso King have 50% of creating a portal to normal chess ( normal=the void chess ) the portal will disappear if the piece go in it. In the dimension portal will disappear after 1 turn. Lets say you go in the dimenson on A8 and you leave the dimenson on G3 you apper on G3 in normal world. And this is it.
ELECTRIC CHESS ⚡️ Like with weather and lighting. White pieces are from electricity and black pieces are from plasma. Pawns can make lightnight appear in 2 range squares but they will be eliminated after that. Knights can make appear a black cloud that will struck with a piece with a lightnight in a L shape but the knight will be blocked by 4 moves. Bishops can make appear a white cloud (not black as the knight) and will trap a pieces for 2 moves and can’t be protected or else the other piece will get trapped on the cloud ( + range only ) and only can trap 3 pieces no more , only last 2 moves and the bishop will disappear after that. THE ROOKS can make appear a plasma straight line (only 4 square range) and rook will be blocked by 4 moves. The queen can make appear a plasma cloud that can trap ANY PIECE (included the king) but only last 2 moves and after that the queen will disappear. The king can make appear a black hole that can trap any piece (except king ) that will capture a only piece only (can used once) Okay so now a gimmick, the weather , the weather will only appear after 5 moves and when it appears it will struck a random piece with a lightnight and the struck piece will get captured ( can’t struck the king ) Okay so now the white pieces (as i say at the start ) will be yellow with some lightnights inside him And the black pieces will be purple (Not too dark) a bit light and also with some lightnights inside him (the lightnights light purple) And the board will be black and white (as the clouds) Okay now the gimmick the, clouds (Not same as the clouds of bishops and knights) this clouds can make a piece hide (any piece) the cloud generation will be always on the corners (only 2 clouds, MAX 2 pieces same color) make pieces invulnerable BUT…. if you hide more than 3 moves the pieces inside them will get captured, and the last thing. There are 2 types of clouds. Plasma clouds and Electricity clouds and in Electricity cloud only the Electricity pieces (white) can hide on that BUT IF a Plasma piece (black) hides on the Electricity cloud it will get captured and reverse, there are a Plasma cloud that only Plasma pieces can hide (black) But if a Electricity piece (white ) hides on the Plasma cloud it will get captured. Alright, i got one here. Consider this your wall of text warning. unstable chess. In this variant, the pieces do not change, only the board. This variant makes the game incredibly chaotic. Every round (a round is a term i use for a move from white, and a move from black) Has a 50% chance to do any of the following: Mandela effect: three random tiles on the board become glitchy. After two rounds, these glitchy squares will disappear, killing any piece on it, including the king. This is why two rounds are given instead of one, so you can move a piece and then move the king if needed. Disappeared squares do not return to the board, and if a piece moves onto a disappeared square, it dies. Trojan piece: a pawn, rook, knight, bishop, king, or queen appears on a random empty square. This piece is controlled by a bot with an elo of 250-1500 and can capture both white and black pieces. If the psuedo piece is a pawn, it has the ability to move backwards and forwards, and it can move two spaces on it's first move. If the psuedo piece is a king, it cannot be captured unless in checkmate, it will move out of check, and will disappear after 3 rounds. Mal-rotation: rotates the board either clockwise or counterclockwise (its a 50/50 to decide which) and the players continue playing as if nothing changed. Shuffle: takes three random pieces and places them on random tiles. If a piece is shuffled onto another piece, the two swap places. Limbo: when limbo is activated, it stays in play for the rest of the game. Now pieces the get killed for any reason are sent to limbo rather than dying. Limbo stays open for 10 rounds. After that, both black and white team up to escape limbo and get their pieces back in the game. 1 half round in limbo is 1 round in game. While the players are playing, they will also play in limbo too. In limbo, the glitchy pieces appear in a random setup. The bot playing the glitchy pieces will randomize its elo every limbo round. Black can only move black pieces, and white can only move white pieces. To get a piece out of limbo and back into the game, that piece must capture 3 + (1 x [amount of times in limbo]) glitchy pieces. Once a glitchy piece is captured, it returns to its starting position. The same goes for a real piece if it escapes limbo. If a real piece is captured in limbo, it's gone for real. If a piece has been in limbo for the 5th time, it is immediately killed.

In water chess: when a chess piece takes a chess piece the chess piece will have +1 boost to use water to splash the chess piece (making it weak)(only when is white/black turn again)

i have an idea:Acid Chess every piece has gas masks and when they are supposed to be taken their gas mask gets ripped off then if the piece is under 3 points it will die in 1 move but if its over 4 it may upgrade for an exchange of losing 1 extra turn (10->9) the bishop upgrade would be called gas bishop of being able to shoot gas into a straight line of any direction but can be only be used every 3 turns and is a move then the rook would be called vengeful rook which would act like a normal rook but being able to move twice in 1 turn then the queen would be called gas queen which the ability is like the bishop's but the whole map then the king would be called monster king basically whatever piece it can take it mimics as default after upgrade and finally the gas ability if a enemy piece isnt wearing a gas mask it will remove 3 of that pieces turns and a bonus move for the king is vengeful king basically for 10 move it can add a decoy of any piece that gases where it goes then a special ability for the queen is spider queen as a second upgrade where it can become invinicable as a mode but in exchange it flys over pieces and an extra move to go down to take the piece making it attackable again. Edit:if the knight takes any piece it could get upgraded even with the gas mask but very weak i mean very weak it would be called awakened knight and as you know getting out of bed is very hard so hes not that op it only adds the kings movement to him not even taking but then he could get more op once gasmask lost as gas knight with taking 5+ points needed to let him place a ghost knight that can stun pieces without a gas mask for 3 turns then if it has taken a queen it can turn into the mimic knight where it can move like a rook or bishop (choose) and whatever piece it takes it can wear its gasmask and look like the piece to live longer and trick the enemy pieces into not attacking it for 3 turns. Edit 2: the dlc would be cooler being bought from the shop for 5000 acid coins (1 point=10 coins) would have 3 new pieces and 5 new abilities with it being firstly being abomination and ill show why, first it starts of as a broken pawn but the more pieces it takes the more op it gets as it first only moves and takes like a pawn but half of it then if it takes a pawn it becomes a repaired pawn then a knight it gets a pawn and knight movement then bishop yadda yadda yadda but it has 2 abilities first it can spawn any piece it took and spawn it that will gas up the area where it would take then the acid geysir the abomination can spawn an acid geysir anywhere which would block enemy pieces from like touching the king its a barricade but can damage pieces then mr acid metorite a meteor that would block 4 squares and gas up the enemy team but could be bad for you... (the piece is a neutral ability kinda) then mr salesman which would put an ad on the enemy's pieces and act like a jail that would stay for 3 turns and give a random potion of freezing burning or stunning then acid cloud a piece thats 6x2 and it rains acid that kills non gas masked pieces.
The trap update: There will be 3 bear taps on the board randomly already, each player will have 3 bear traps: they are the weakest, they can only stop 5 peices from moving for 2 moves, they trap in a + shape (including the place where the trap is) Pwr lvl . 1 mines: when stepped on they explode into a 3x3 square Pwr lvl 3. 1 tank mine which is like the mine but can only capture rooks and queens with a 20% chance to do so. Power level = capture peices that have lower or equal points (Except tank mines). Traps: Traps will activate if a peice lands or goes near it in a 1 square + radius, if a trap is activated it will be discarded. (Traps are not invisible.)
Elemental chess: 6 elements: - Fire: after moving it will capture every piece (even your own) in a plus sign - Air: it can jump over every piece when moving - Thunder: it can move again after capturing a piece, but it can only be activated once per turn and it doesn't activate if the capture happens on the last 3 files - Water: add the king's base movement to the piece's base movement. If given to the king, it can move 2 spaces in every direction - Earth: protected pieces CAN'T be captured AT ALL. The ability activates for pawns even with pieces that are maximun 2 spaces forward (even if the pawn can't move there and even after the pawn's first move) - Void: when the piece with the void element get captured, it brings the attacker along with it in the shadow realm, even if it's the king (and that's checkmate) ELEMENTS: - Can be used on every pieces except the queen (pawn with an element can't promote to a queen) - Are shown underneat the piece/on the space they're on (except void) - At least 2 MUST be given to pawns - There's only 1 for each - NO EN PAESSANT - Every piece can only have 1 SUGGESTIONS ARE AVAILABLE (I'd prefer more elements, but everything's ok) P.s. here's a better idea for void: After the 30th move (average game lasts 40), a void piece will spawn. It cannot move, but on the next turn, 2 random tiles next to it turn into a void piece, and capturing any piece that used to be there.

What if you do every 4th of the board is a different element and if a piece goes to a different region it turns in to that elements version of that piece
Did some testing, e4 e5 Qg4 (with ideas of ability on c7 or even g7, destroying most of black's pieces, if not black's king seems like the best line for lava white.
How about sky/air chess? And if you do my idea can rayquaza or a different dragon randomly fly through the board once per game? And rayquaza/other dragon will claw out random squares in its path that make any pieces that go on the clawed squared just die and not be brought back
Air chess:every piece can jump(up to 2 squares) pawn:is the same, but they are able to move 2 every turn and move one backward. Horse:renamed to duohorn can do what a horse can do, but ×2 also on the second time it can't hop over. Bishop:can only hop over their own pieces.can fuse. (You'll know what im talking about later.) Rook:can only hop over there own pieces.can fuse. Queen:can use other pieces as a wall and if they do that they can move again.King:able to pass the royal crown to a different piece (can't be Queen)after they do the old king will become a pawn. Special:Rook+Bishop=roshop Roshop:is a qween but it doesn't have the ability of qween but it has the ability of a Rook and Bishop (only able to make one)
think about it a "qween"(queen) also is only able to make rook OR bishop moves. so this "only able to make one" doesn't mean anything, so i'd recommend replacing the roshop
Very cool!! Good job. Wish there was a demo game to see. That lava chess icon with the board edges being taken by lava made me expect the game was about that. Which sounds fun, btw. After certain time/moves/pieces taken, the board gets smaller.
Space chess : Pawns are Astroroids (It moves normally) , Knights are Blackholes (It can suck pieces that are close to it) , a Rook the Earth (its still move normally but can collide with pawns close to them and only they is only 1 rook on 1side) , Bishops are Moons (same ass rooks) , Queens are Spacecrafts (they give you predictions of the enemy's moves) ,Kings are Stars (it has an ability of destroying other enemy pieces if a king shreds an enemy king the enemy loses ).
My idea for water chess is that pieces can spawn either water, ponds or hot tubs, the water flows like lava, ponds are in a plus shape and they take pieces to the drown zone, hot tubs trap pieces(because hot tubs are relaxing) in them until a piece the same color as the trapped one gets near the hot tub, the drown zone is like hell but instead of burn pieces will drown and come out as drowned pieces that are weaker and need to be put in hot tubs every 10 steps but if the drowned piece is not put in a hot tub then it cant move no more
I think hell should be a seperate board where the pieces on THAT board do a chess game edit: I have a idea, poison rook (castle) so it is the same as a normal rook BUT instead of TAKING a piece when it goes into another piece it will put the piece INSIDE the castle/rook and when the piece is inside the rook it will stay there for 2 turns before getting poisoned but if the rook is taken in these 2 turns the piece will be set free but it will not be able to move for half a turn because it just escaped the castle, and NO it is not checkmate if the enemy king is inside the rook, but if the king spends 2 turns in the rook it will get poisoned and checkmate, it can fit 2 pieces inside it at a time, if theres 3 pieces it wont go inside, also this also works on YOUR pieces but your pieces dont get poisoned, they get sheilded while inside the rook, also if 2 rooks collide it will be a 50/50 on which rook goes inside which rook, the rook moves like the piece isnide it, example: a bishop is inside the rook, the rook can now move like a bishop, so it can go diagonal, also if the piece gets taken it will blow poison out of it, 3x3 posion which only lasts half a turn, takes ANY piece near it, hope you like the idea 🙂
If you do ice, the you can do a place so that the ice pieces melt. Also call it Heater, they melt after 3 and a half turns also they can survive inside for 5 rounds they can only get freed when they are in for 3 rounds (advantage when you’re white) . Then call the board freezer (or fridge) the pieces when they come back from the Heater, you can click on the melted pieces into a mold, but they cant move, return their shape after being in the mold for 4 rounds. When their melted, they move only 2 squares of their move. They also have an ice ability, they loose it when they’re melted. Regain they’re ability when they are their shape. You can click the piece to get to get out of the Heater. Thats all!

My idea for a new chess game mode is the time gap update: This update unifies all historical eras, as tokens with their own forms of movement and abilities. For example, you can be in the indigenous eras until you are in the future. This update also includes natural disasters, weather conditions, etc. In any case, White is the 'home' team in the battle, meaning the time and setting travel happens in the era in which the tiles selected it.
Upside down chess: The pieces move the opposite as to what they usually do. Dissapearing chess: every move make one area that doesn't have a piece ( unless has to be forced) Disappears Trap chess: every move you can place down traps. (Other team cannot see it also once on there the piece is trapped for one turn)
I've an idea for the Ice Rook : It moves like a regular rook, but it can't stop. When it meet a ally piece, it stop. When it meet an enemy piece, it took the piece and take its place.
Can you make like monster chess, underground chess, space chess. And in them it will be cool if you could make board bigger, sring, change,not a square, deep, high and maybe some mechanics and a 3rd player who is an ai and many more
jungle chess: bishop spawns trees for 3 moves, after, it doesn't spawn them anymore. the pawn, knight, rook and queen cannot get captured while in the trees, and can only be captured if there are other pieces in the trees. you can only move diagonally on them, and they also work as an obstruction as you cannot move further than the forest.
Nature Chess: Nature Chess is just like the nornal chess, changes to the chess pieces, however 1 new rule and all of them had the same mechanic, all pieces will trace all their paths into flower, and the new rule is that if you can't checkmate, you can trace flowers around the board and win without checkmating (note: Black spawns withered flowers) So here are the changes, well, bugs actually. Bees: they go to a flower, due to it's speed being very fast, he spawns every half a move, capturing any pieces on the flower spawns in a 40% chance Butterfly: They go in a 2x2 zig-zag path and can return their movement, doubling pieces movement range when a piece is on the butterfly. Also spawns once per move (Rooks and Bishops will get Diagonal and Horizontal and Vertical), spawns in a 35% chance Dung Beetle: This Beetle loves to carry pieces around! Again, moving horizontal (not counting column 1,2,3,6,7,8) and if a piece is a "little bit" to the edge, they got captured by *VOID* , moves pieces to the face it is towards to by 2 tiles, moves after 1.5 move (what I meant by 1.5 move is 1 move and half a move) and spawns well... In a 30% chance Finally, we got Apple Snail or Assassin Snail: Apple Snail spawns in a 0.5% or guaranteed in 200 turns, it traces eggs wherever it goes (Pink colour) and captures anything in it's path, however moves every 5 move, and only move horizontal-ly, and the eggs will hatch after 5 turns and will go vertical-ly to the top or bottom, and yes again, moves every 5 moves and hatches eggs that hatchee horizontal-ly this time, the cycle repeats here are the pieces: Grass Pawn: traces grass everywhere it moves, will bloom into a flower the mext move Hedge Knight: It spawns 3 flowers behind it in a 1x3 area everytime in moves Pyro Bishop: Spawns a Fire Flower to the square behind it, Fire Flower has a 10% chance to spawn a blooming fire that is safe to touch and has a chance to grow flowers around it! Dissapears after 3 moves Wa(l)ter (White)/Poison (Black) Rook: it sprays water in a 3x3 tile in the tile it is standing on, turning withered flowers into fresh flowers, the opposite goes for the Black Rook Mother Nature Queen: it traces flowers and spawns flower in a 5x5 area, and turns withered flower into fresh flower if it steps on it Rain King: everywhere it goes, it will be raining on a 6x6 tile, turning withered flowers into fresh flowers, that's it
If you make water chess then make heaven alongside it, pieces wait like 10 turns in heaven then come back with a slight buff, obviously king goes to hell for not enacting democracy and also being selfish ig
Ice update could have pieces set ice on the board. Maybe two types of ice, one strong that if a piece moves to it it has to move all the way the direction of movement due to the slippery ice, and a weaker ice where a piece can stand for one turn and then the ice breaks, and so no other piece can move to said square because now it's froze water. Maybe the slippery ice can last for some turns but the breakable ice remains the whole game. Just an idea.
yo cool thing i wanna say i made a sort of explosive chess. no it's not like atomic chess the main difference is that pieces have different explosions the queen has a much larger explosion, the rook is just 3x3, and knight and bishop just in a cross. the pawn explodes in a cross too, except a pawn's explosion only takes out other pawns, never normal pieces (that can change though) and the most fun part, chain reactions. they go on indefinitely. if you take one of the pieces in the back very early, the whole thing explodes (probably needs nerfing) explosive chess games generally last very little
the basketball update or more likely an event or a game mode all of the pieces can jump over eachother and take the pieces after that piece like a dunk after that your turn is over none of the pieces take the piece directly in front of them only king has an ability wich can be transfered to the other pieces its a basket ball you can use it to take pieces directly in front of u. you can to transfer to your pieces if there is not a piece infron of them if one piece has the ball it can use the ability and if a piece gets taken ball goes to the closest piece you have to use the ability every 2 moves and if u cant use the ability in any of the directions that includes diagonal you get chackmated the game ends both sides has one ball basicly if you can capture the opponents ball you win if king get captured the game ends too so there is to ways to end the game
Btw theres a glitch where a corner piece dissapered because of the rook fire when it died the lava covered the whole background aka the black screen and everything was laggy
Suggestion: Tuflar-Shiver (saving this for a move opening typw) Permafrost Chess Permafrost chess is as chess variant which has new chess pieces, ice themed chess pieces, revamped normal chess pieces and chess pieces icons, and has a lot more moves, the board also has a theme of ice and dark cyan (to contribute to the theme of permafrost), both sides have a way that can possibly ruin one side or other of the chess board, using luck to do so. In Permafrost chess, there are 26 pieces, 11 different types, 3 boards, 6 new features, and all new pieces have abilities (normal pieces get revamped movement and at ice half, new pieces go on permafrost side with dark blue, navy blue, dark cyan type of colors, with abilities. The queen is the only piece that has a big impacting ability that can have a cooldown of 2 minutes and 30, or one time use.) The board has 16 letters, 16 numbers, and half is 8 letters and 8 numbers. (I imagine the board to be left and right for ice and permafrost sides, just so it isn’t unfair and the other player is aggrieved.) These are the current items (I will edit this once in a while). Ice Artifacts How to claim: 1. With an Ice Pawn, reach the edge of the board on the opposite side where your opponent is at, kill a queen, kill a room, or kill a decent, or good new piece in this variant. 2. Win 2 games in a row or claim 5 wins (starts at 5) 3. Win a game with 35+ points of material 4. Converting your chosen or all points of material to make an Ice Artifact (3 points of material = 1 IA [Ice Artifact]) 5. Icy Knights Icy Knights are a type of piece in Permafrost Chess which moves like a normal knight, but has the power to freeze a piece for half a move (or 10 or 15 seconds in rapid, 5 or 9 seconds in blitz). Icy Knights have a movement of a normal knight, 1 at each diagonal, and 2 at the back of the piece (gets weaker every 5 moves until it just has diagonals, when it reaches max nerf, it can go forwards 1 to make it up for removing 2 back movement), the Icy Knights have an appearance of a horse with a cyan leash standing on ice, with a color of white (black version is Blue) and has snow on their head. She they move make it so they glide (this gliding part is optional). That’s the Icy Knights. Icefrost Bishop Icefrost Bishops are a piece in this variant that can move like a king in the middle, 5 blocks diagonal, and two blocks up (does not take on the second top block, does not take at back block movement square). Icy Bishops can also be bought at the Frostbite Cabin (a shop) that can be bought using 1 Ice Artifact. The bishop also freezes pieces, but can freezes a piece for 3 moves, and has a 50% chance it can freeze to death or die to ice shards, still like normal chess taking the piece for material. The black version is like a permafrost thing, but it’s not part of it, it’s just like a blackish blue. Snow Rook (W.I.P)
What about you make bender chess where the pieces have a bender ability, fire, water, air, and earth. And they can use the derivation of those bender. Fire to lava, water to ice, air to wind, and earth to earthquake (sure you can change to whatever). What do you think?
Update: any piece on a square next to fire makes the fire have a 75% chance to spread to that square, and moving a piece that is on fire will leave the fire where it was and a random amount of squares from two up to the full distance minus 3 squares lights on fire, if there is too little and minus three gets zero or lower, there is one square that lights on fire, and the square the piece lands on lights on fire as the piece that is on fire lands there spreading fire. Moving a piece has a 1 in 9 chance to extinguish the fire, and fire makes smoke that makes fog where you can only see a 3x3 square around any piece in the fog and the fog has a 50% chance to spread and then a 75% chance to destroy the source smoke, the spread chance lowering every move and the destroy chance going up every move. The kings can see in a 5x5 area around them. If a king is in the smoke, all other pieces on the side are visible but everything else is covered in smoke.
Space Chess Pieces Solar Pawn Ability: It can summon mini suns in all adjacent squares which destroy enemies. Once per game Orbital Knight Ability: It can spawn a moon acting like a shield around it once per battle Quantum Rook Ability: When it moves it calls down orbital strikes on the path it takes. The Orbital Strikes destroy all units adjacent to the path and in the path. It can also jump, but the Rook also takes all units, be they black or white with the Orbital Strikes, excluding kings or pawns. Neutron Bishop Ability: When it reaches it's destination, it spawns a magnetic field around it which makes the units of it's own team faster, and the enemies slower. Void Queen Ability: When moving, it spawns a Black Hole on the squares adjacent to it's destination, and it's starting point. Only enemies are destroyed by these. It also spawns a Black hole when taken, effectively destroying the unit which destroyed it. Galaxy King Ability: Can vaporize any enemy excluding the enemy King by blasting them with the full power of a galaxy.

Shrink Chess: Any time there is no piece on an edge of the board, that side gets permanently deleted. at first it wouldn't really matter but in endgames, it would be a crucial part of strategy.
About water update make it like this one. Pawn:moves like normal .ability leaves a trap that makes pieces sink. Knight moves like normal ability leaves a trap that has a chance of 40% to expand and 30% of vanishing downside is that knight will not be able to move for 3 moves so he will be not too op. You can change whatever you want and also add skunked location where the pieces will be after they sink

Pieces:
Wind Pawn
-Whenever Wind Pawns move, they have a 30% chance to get pushed by the air and move one extra move. If a stronger piece is blocking the way, it won't get the extra move. When promoting, you can either choose the normal pieces or the air pieces.
Aerial Knight
-Aerial Knights can fly anywhere and take any piece (except for the king), having a 5% chance of succession. If it fails, the knight will give up its move. It can always move normally by the way.
Cloud Bishop
-Cloud Bishops cannot be taken but also can't take any pieces, unless if a certain number of moves are done. The cloud will wear off, causing it to be an ordinary bishop.
PASSIVE: Rainfall

Void or Abysall Chess with void dimension. You chose what the pieces do. King when moving have 25% to spawn a portal to void dimension. If you are in the dimenso King have 50% of creating a portal to normal chess ( normal=the void chess ) the portal will disappear if the piece go in it. In the dimension portal will disappear after 1 turn. Lets say you go in the dimenson on A8 and you leave the dimenson on G3 you apper on G3 in normal world. And this is it.

Like with weather and lighting.
White pieces are from electricity and black pieces are from plasma.
Pawns can make lightnight appear in 2 range squares but they will be eliminated after that.
Knights can make appear a black cloud that will struck with a piece with a lightnight in a L shape but the knight will be blocked by 4 moves.
Bishops can make appear a white cloud (not black as the knight) and will trap a pieces for 2 moves and can’t be protected or else the other piece will get trapped on the cloud ( + range only ) and only can trap 3 pieces no more , only last 2 moves and the bishop will disappear after that.
THE ROOKS can make appear a plasma straight line (only 4 square range) and rook will be blocked by 4 moves.
The queen can make appear a plasma cloud that can trap ANY PIECE (included the king) but only last 2 moves and after that the queen will disappear.
The king can make appear a black hole that can trap any piece (except king ) that will capture a only piece only (can used once)
Okay so now a gimmick, the weather , the weather will only appear after 5 moves and when it appears it will struck a random piece with a lightnight and the struck piece will get captured ( can’t struck the king )
Okay so now the white pieces (as i say at the start ) will be yellow with some lightnights inside him
And the black pieces will be purple (Not too dark) a bit light and also with some lightnights inside him (the lightnights light purple)
And the board will be black and white (as the clouds)
Okay now the gimmick the, clouds (Not same as the clouds of bishops and knights) this clouds can make a piece hide (any piece) the cloud generation will be always on the corners (only 2 clouds, MAX 2 pieces same color) make pieces invulnerable BUT…. if you hide more than 3 moves the pieces inside them will get captured, and the last thing. There are 2 types of clouds. Plasma clouds and Electricity clouds and in Electricity cloud only the Electricity pieces (white) can hide on that BUT IF a Plasma piece (black) hides on the Electricity cloud it will get captured and reverse, there are a Plasma cloud that only Plasma pieces can hide (black) But if a Electricity piece (white ) hides on the Plasma cloud it will get captured.

In this variant, the pieces do not change, only the board. This variant makes the game incredibly chaotic. Every round (a round is a term i use for a move from white, and a move from black) Has a 50% chance to do any of the following:
Mandela effect: three random tiles on the board become glitchy. After two rounds, these glitchy squares will disappear, killing any piece on it, including the king. This is why two rounds are given instead of one, so you can move a piece and then move the king if needed. Disappeared squares do not return to the board, and if a piece moves onto a disappeared square, it dies.
Trojan piece: a pawn, rook, knight, bishop, king, or queen appears on a random empty square. This piece is controlled by a bot with an elo of 250-1500 and can capture both white and black pieces. If the psuedo piece is a pawn, it has the ability to move backwards and forwards, and it can move two spaces on it's first move. If the psuedo piece is a king, it cannot be captured unless in checkmate, it will move out of check, and will disappear after 3 rounds.
Mal-rotation: rotates the board either clockwise or counterclockwise (its a 50/50 to decide which) and the players continue playing as if nothing changed.
Shuffle: takes three random pieces and places them on random tiles. If a piece is shuffled onto another piece, the two swap places.
Limbo: when limbo is activated, it stays in play for the rest of the game. Now pieces the get killed for any reason are sent to limbo rather than dying. Limbo stays open for 10 rounds. After that, both black and white team up to escape limbo and get their pieces back in the game. 1 half round in limbo is 1 round in game. While the players are playing, they will also play in limbo too.
In limbo, the glitchy pieces appear in a random setup. The bot playing the glitchy pieces will randomize its elo every limbo round. Black can only move black pieces, and white can only move white pieces. To get a piece out of limbo and back into the game, that piece must capture 3 + (1 x [amount of times in limbo]) glitchy pieces. Once a glitchy piece is captured, it returns to its starting position. The same goes for a real piece if it escapes limbo. If a real piece is captured in limbo, it's gone for real. If a piece has been in limbo for the 5th time, it is immediately killed.

Orb machanic: theres a orb that you have to defend (not a defence game) there still a king the orb will spawn a force field to protect your territory which is good for some cases also the orb wen damage the force field dissappear and reappear after 10 seconds
The binary pawn: if it moves it dos nothing but at the second move it will swap a different piece on it
The knite (idk what name lul): every move is binaries that plate making it abit challenging
The bishop: every move it does nothing but at the third move it make its path different to a rook movement
The rook: every forth move the rook shoot a orb that damages pieces (theres now ho bar to make it harder lul)
The queen: every 20 moves it shoots a laser at any where but you have ro tap where to shoot (chance you can use it twice or be unlucky to only use it once)
The king: it can now move 3x3(yay) every move heals himself or other pieces or smth so its useful
Hp bar machanic: every sabatog or attack from the enemy damaged your pieces here are the examples
Pawn hp: 100
Knite hp: 125
Bishop hp: 175
Rook hp: 200 - 195 (its based on rng)
queen hp: 275
King hp: 350
Secret: the board switches places every 20 minutes so its fun and funny stuff and happen
Secret 2: the board can glitch out a piece its a 5% chance and it get teleported to the banland board
Banland board machanic: if a piece get teleports there or opponents get teleported they will have to fight to the death to get out but theres a problem a 45 - 32% chance its will glitch a piece in the banland weakins it

i have an idea:Acid Chess every piece has gas masks and when they are supposed to be taken their gas mask gets ripped off then if the piece is under 3 points it will die in 1 move but if its over 4 it may upgrade for an exchange of losing 1 extra turn (10->9) the bishop upgrade would be called gas bishop of being able to shoot gas into a straight line of any direction but can be only be used every 3 turns and is a move then the rook would be called vengeful rook which would act like a normal rook but being able to move twice in 1 turn then the queen would be called gas queen which the ability is like the bishop's but the whole map then the king would be called monster king basically whatever piece it can take it mimics as default after upgrade and finally the gas ability if a enemy piece isnt wearing a gas mask it will remove 3 of that pieces turns and a bonus move for the king is vengeful king basically for 10 move it can add a decoy of any piece that gases where it goes then a special ability for the queen is spider queen as a second upgrade where it can become invinicable as a mode but in exchange it flys over pieces and an extra move to go down to take the piece making it attackable again. Edit:if the knight takes any piece it could get upgraded even with the gas mask but very weak i mean very weak it would be called awakened knight and as you know getting out of bed is very hard so hes not that op it only adds the kings movement to him not even taking but then he could get more op once gasmask lost as gas knight with taking 5+ points needed to let him place a ghost knight that can stun pieces without a gas mask for 3 turns then if it has taken a queen it can turn into the mimic knight where it can move like a rook or bishop (choose) and whatever piece it takes it can wear its gasmask and look like the piece to live longer and trick the enemy pieces into not attacking it for 3 turns. Edit 2: the dlc would be cooler being bought from the shop for 5000 acid coins (1 point=10 coins) would have 3 new pieces and 5 new abilities with it being firstly being abomination and ill show why, first it starts of as a broken pawn but the more pieces it takes the more op it gets as it first only moves and takes like a pawn but half of it then if it takes a pawn it becomes a repaired pawn then a knight it gets a pawn and knight movement then bishop yadda yadda yadda but it has 2 abilities first it can spawn any piece it took and spawn it that will gas up the area where it would take then the acid geysir the abomination can spawn an acid geysir anywhere which would block enemy pieces from like touching the king its a barricade but can damage pieces then mr acid metorite a meteor that would block 4 squares and gas up the enemy team but could be bad for you... (the piece is a neutral ability kinda) then mr salesman which would put an ad on the enemy's pieces and act like a jail that would stay for 3 turns and give a random potion of freezing burning or stunning then acid cloud a piece thats 6x2 and it rains acid that kills non gas masked pieces.

What if a piece in hell captures another one?
The trap update: There will be 3 bear taps on the board randomly already, each player will have 3 bear traps: they are the weakest, they can only stop 5 peices from moving for 2 moves, they trap in a + shape (including the place where the trap is) Pwr lvl . 1 mines: when stepped on they explode into a 3x3 square Pwr lvl 3. 1 tank mine which is like the mine but can only capture rooks and queens with a 20% chance to do so. Power level = capture peices that have lower or equal points (Except tank mines). Traps: Traps will activate if a peice lands or goes near it in a 1 square + radius, if a trap is activated it will be discarded. (Traps are not invisible.)
so all traps disappear after the first piece, except the bear trap (it disappears after the fifth?)?

- Void: when the piece with the void element get captured, it brings the attacker along with it in the shadow realm, even if it's the king (and that's checkmate)

After the 30th move (average game lasts 40), a void piece will spawn. It cannot move, but on the next turn, 2 random tiles next to it turn into a void piece, and capturing any piece that used to be there.

Did some testing, e4 e5 Qg4 (with ideas of ability on c7 or even g7, destroying most of black's pieces, if not black's king seems like the best line for lava white.
How about sky/air chess? And if you do my idea can rayquaza or a different dragon randomly fly through the board once per game? And rayquaza/other dragon will claw out random squares in its path that make any pieces that go on the clawed squared just die and not be brought back

That lava chess icon with the board edges being taken by lava made me expect the game was about that. Which sounds fun, btw. After certain time/moves/pieces taken, the board gets smaller.
Space chess : Pawns are Astroroids (It moves normally) , Knights are Blackholes (It can suck pieces that are close to it) , a Rook the Earth (its still move normally but can collide with pawns close to them and only they is only 1 rook on 1side) , Bishops are Moons (same ass rooks) , Queens are Spacecrafts (they give you predictions of the enemy's moves) ,Kings are Stars (it has an ability of destroying other enemy pieces if a king shreds an enemy king the enemy loses ).

My idea for water chess is that pieces can spawn either water, ponds or hot tubs, the water flows like lava, ponds are in a plus shape and they take pieces to the drown zone, hot tubs trap pieces(because hot tubs are relaxing) in them until a piece the same color as the trapped one gets near the hot tub, the drown zone is like hell but instead of burn pieces will drown and come out as drowned pieces that are weaker and need to be put in hot tubs every 10 steps but if the drowned piece is not put in a hot tub then it cant move no more

edit: I have a idea, poison rook (castle)
so it is the same as a normal rook BUT instead of TAKING a piece when it goes into another piece it will put the piece INSIDE the castle/rook and when the piece is inside the rook it will stay there for 2 turns before getting poisoned but if the rook is taken in these 2 turns the piece will be set free but it will not be able to move for half a turn because it just escaped the castle, and NO it is not checkmate if the enemy king is inside the rook, but if the king spends 2 turns in the rook it will get poisoned and checkmate, it can fit 2 pieces inside it at a time, if theres 3 pieces it wont go inside, also this also works on YOUR pieces but your pieces dont get poisoned, they get sheilded while inside the rook, also if 2 rooks collide it will be a 50/50 on which rook goes inside which rook, the rook moves like the piece isnide it, example: a bishop is inside the rook, the rook can now move like a bishop, so it can go diagonal, also if the piece gets taken it will blow poison out of it, 3x3 posion which only lasts half a turn, takes ANY piece near it, hope you like the idea 🙂
If you do ice, the you can do a place so that the ice pieces melt. Also call it Heater, they melt after 3 and a half turns also they can survive inside for 5 rounds they can only get freed when they are in for 3 rounds (advantage when you’re white) . Then call the board freezer (or fridge) the pieces when they come back from the Heater, you can click on the melted pieces into a mold, but they cant move, return their shape after being in the mold for 4 rounds. When their melted, they move only 2 squares of their move. They also have an ice ability, they loose it when they’re melted.
Regain they’re ability when they are their shape. You can click the piece to get to get out of the Heater. Thats all!

My idea for a new chess game mode is the time gap update:
This update unifies all historical eras, as tokens with their own forms of movement and abilities. For example, you can be in the indigenous eras until you are in the future. jungle chess:
bishop spawns trees for 3 moves, after, it doesn't spawn them anymore. the pawn, knight, rook and queen cannot get captured while in the trees, and can only be captured if there are other pieces in the trees. you can only move diagonally on them, and they also work as an obstruction as you cannot move further than the forest.
Nature Chess:
Nature Chess is just like the nornal chess, changes to the chess pieces, however 1 new rule and all of them had the same mechanic, all pieces will trace all their paths into flower, and the new rule is that if you can't checkmate, you can trace flowers around the board and win without checkmating (note: Black spawns withered flowers)
So here are the changes, well, bugs actually.
Bees: they go to a flower, due to it's speed being very fast, he spawns every half a move, capturing any pieces on the flower spawns in a 40% chance
Butterfly: They go in a 2x2 zig-zag path and can return their movement, doubling pieces movement range when a piece is on the butterfly. Also spawns once per move (Rooks and Bishops will get Diagonal and Horizontal and Vertical), spawns in a 35% chance
Dung Beetle: This Beetle loves to carry pieces around! Again, moving horizontal (not counting column 1,2,3,6,7,8) and if a piece is a "little bit" to the edge, they got captured by *VOID* , moves pieces to the face it is towards to by 2 tiles, moves after 1.5 move (what I meant by 1.5 move is 1 move and half a move) and spawns well... Finally, we got Apple Snail or Assassin Snail: Apple Snail spawns in a 0.5% or guaranteed in 200 turns, it traces eggs wherever it goes (Pink colour) and captures anything in it's path, however moves every 5 move, and only move horizontal-ly, and the eggs will hatch after 5 turns and will go vertical-ly to the top or bottom, and yes again, moves every 5 moves and hatches eggs that hatchee horizontal-ly this time, the cycle repeats
here are the pieces:
Grass Pawn: traces grass everywhere it moves, will bloom into a flower the mext move
Hedge Knight: It spawns 3 flowers behind it in a 1x3 area everytime in moves
Pyro Bishop: Spawns a Fire Flower to the square behind it, Fire Flower has a 10% chance to spawn a blooming fire that is safe to touch and has a chance to grow flowers around it! Dissapears after 3 moves
Wa(l)ter (White)/Poison (Black) Rook: it sprays water in a 3x3 tile in the tile it is standing on, turning withered flowers into fresh flowers, the opposite goes for the Black Rook
Mother Nature Queen: it traces flowers and spawns flower in a 5x5 area, and turns withered flower into fresh flower if it steps on it
Rain King: everywhere it goes, it will be raining on a 6x6 tile, turning withered flowers into fresh flowers, that's it

Ice update could have pieces set ice on the board. Maybe two types of ice, one strong that if a piece moves to it it has to move all the way the direction of movement due to the slippery ice, and a weaker ice where a piece can stand for one turn and then the ice breaks, and so no other piece can move to said square because now it's froze water. Maybe the slippery ice can last for some turns but the breakable ice remains the whole game. Just an idea.

i made a sort of explosive chess. no it's not like atomic chess
the main difference is that pieces have different explosions
the queen has a much larger explosion, the rook is just 3x3, and knight and bishop just in a cross. the pawn explodes in a cross too, except a pawn's explosion only takes out other pawns, never normal pieces (that can change though)
and the most fun part, chain reactions. they go on indefinitely. if you take one of the pieces in the back very early, the whole thing explodes (probably needs nerfing)

the basketball update or more likely an event or a game mode all of the pieces can jump over eachother and take the pieces after that piece like a dunk after that your turn is over none of the pieces take the piece directly in front of them only king has an ability wich can be transfered to the other pieces its a basket ball you can use it to take pieces directly in front of u. you can to transfer to your pieces if there is not a piece infron of them if one piece has the ball it can use the ability and if a piece gets taken ball goes to the closest piece you have to use the ability every 2 moves and if u cant use the ability in any of the directions that includes diagonal you get chackmated the game ends both sides has one ball basicly if you can capture the opponents ball you win if king get captured the game ends too so there is to ways to end the game

Permafrost Chess
Permafrost chess is as chess variant which has new chess pieces, ice themed chess pieces, revamped normal chess pieces and chess pieces icons, and has a lot more moves, the board also has a theme of ice and dark cyan (to contribute to the theme of permafrost), both sides have a way that can possibly ruin one side or other of the chess board, using luck to do so. In Permafrost chess, there are 26 pieces, 11 different types, 3 boards, 6 new features, and all new pieces have abilities (normal pieces get revamped movement and at ice half, new pieces go on permafrost side with dark blue, navy blue, dark cyan type of colors, with abilities. The queen is the only piece that has a big impacting ability that can have a cooldown of 2 minutes and 30, or one time use.)
The board has 16 letters, 16 numbers, and half is 8 letters and 8 numbers. (I imagine the board to be left and right for ice and permafrost sides, just so it isn’t unfair and the other player is aggrieved.)

Ice Artifacts
How to claim:
1. With an Ice Pawn, reach the edge of the board on the opposite side where your opponent is at, kill a queen, kill a room, or kill a decent, or good new piece in this variant.
2. Win 2 games in a row or claim 5 wins (starts at 5)
3. Win a game with 35+ points of material
4. Converting your chosen or all points of material to make an Ice Artifact (3 points of material = 1 IA [Ice Artifact])
5. Converting an Ice Piece to collect one with a chance of 25%, lowers by the higher quantity you have by 0.025%
Bonus: Using 1 Ice Artifact has a 25% chance of duping its quantity (can be increased with an Ice Vase (IVP) Potion [I-II-III], I increases by 2.5% for 5 minutes which lowers by 0.001% by Ice Artifact Quantity, including every other rank of IVP Potions, II increases luck by 17.5% and III increases it by 25.5%.

Ice Pawn
Ice Pawns are a type of piece in chess which is the weakest of them all, but a decent movement in the pawns type when movement is unlocked. Ice pawns move two blocks up, and two blocks diagonal when first able to move. When it starts to move, it can only move one side, but in the middle it moves like a normal king when it conquers the middle, d4, d5, e4, e5, f3, f4, c3, c4 (if it reached f3, f4, c3, c4, it will have a movement of I block to the left, one block to the right, and one block up (no diagonals). If it reaches the end of the board to the opponents side or captures a valuable piece of the board like a good new piece, a rook, or a queen, the person who accomplished it gains an Ice Artifact (I will explain what that is and what it is used for after the pieces). The Ice Pawns have an appearance of a pawn but blue, two snowflakes on their dot, and the dot is an ice block. So yeah, that’s the Ice Pawns.
Icy Knights
Icy Knights are a type of piece in Permafrost Chess which moves like a normal knight, but has the power to freeze a piece for half a move (or 10 or 15 seconds in rapid, 5 or 9 seconds in blitz). Icy Knights have a movement of a normal knight, 1 at each diagonal, and 2 at the back of the piece (gets weaker every 5 moves until it just has diagonals, when it reaches max nerf, it can go forwards 1 to make it up for removing 2 back movement), the Icy Knights have an appearance of a horse with a cyan leash standing on ice, with a color of white (black version is Blue) and has snow on their head. She they move make it so they glide (this gliding part is optional). That’s the Icy Knights.
Icefrost Bishop
Icefrost Bishops are a piece in this variant that can move like a king in the middle, 5 blocks diagonal, and two blocks up (does not take on the second top block, does not take at back block movement square). Icy Bishops can also be bought at the Frostbite Cabin (a shop) that can be bought using 1 Ice Artifact. The bishop also freezes pieces, but can freezes a piece for 3 moves, and has a 50% chance it can freeze to death or die to ice shards, still like normal chess taking the piece for material. The black version is like a permafrost thing, but it’s not part of it, it’s just like a blackish blue.

What about you make bender chess where the pieces have a bender ability, fire, water, air, and earth. And they can use the derivation of those bender. Fire to lava, water to ice, air to wind, and earth to earthquake (sure you can change to whatever). What do you think?
Update: any piece on a square next to fire makes the fire have a 75% chance to spread to that square, and moving a piece that is on fire will leave the fire where it was and a random amount of squares from two up to the full distance minus 3 squares lights on fire, if there is too little and minus three gets zero or lower, there is one square that lights on fire, and the square the piece lands on lights on fire as the piece that is on fire lands there spreading fire. Moving a piece has a 1 in 9 chance to extinguish the fire, and fire makes smoke that makes fog where you can only see a 3x3 square around any piece in the fog and the fog has a 50% chance to spread and then a 75% chance to destroy the source smoke, the spread chance lowering every move and the destroy chance going up every move. The kings can see in a 5x5 area around them. If a king is in the smoke, all other pieces on the side are visible but everything else is covered in smoke.
I don't know if this variation of chess even existed, but yeah, very clever.

Ability: When it moves it calls down orbital strikes on the path it takes. The Orbital Strikes destroy all units adjacent to the path and in the path. It can also jump, but the Rook also takes all units, be they black or white with the Orbital Strikes, excluding kings or pawns.
Neutron Bishop
Ability: When it reaches it's destination, it spawns a magnetic field around it which makes the units of it's own team faster, and the enemies slower.
Void Queen
Ability: When moving, it spawns a Black Hole on the squares adjacent to it's destination, and it's starting point. Only enemies are destroyed by these. It also spawns a Black hole when taken, effectively destroying the unit which destroyed it.
Galaxy King
Ability: Can vaporize any enemy excluding the enemy King by blasting them with the full power of a galaxy.

About water update make it like this one. Pawn:moves like normal .ability leaves a trap that makes pieces sink. Knight moves like normal ability leaves a trap that has a chance of 40% to expand and 30% of vanishing downside is that knight will not be able to move for 3 moves so he will be not too op. You can change whatever you want and also add skunked location where the pieces will be after they sink

Rocket: kills every piece that’s in its way in front of it.
Astronaut: moves diagonally and can jump over 2 squares and kills whatever piece it lands on since astronauts explore space and the moon and the moon has low gravity and you can jump high so it kinda makes sense
Spaceship: spreads rocks 1 square diagonally but only has a 20% chance of spreading and a 30% chance of dying.
Satellite: can move in every square that a piece is standing on but it doesn’t kill the piece, instead it makes the piece lose a turn so it can’t move the the next time the other team moves, This can be very useful if your opponent only has a little amount of pieces.
Rock: can capture any piece that moves in its place but disappears after any piece moves in the place but kills the piece that’s captured in it.
*MOVES*
Pawn: Can spawn a rock in front of itself but dies after doing it.
Knight: Can spawn a spaceship 2 squares diagonally but only has 2 uses every round.
Bishop: Can spawn an astronaut 2 squares in front of it.
Rook: Can spawn a spaceship diagonally and horizontally but can’t spawn one behind him.
Queen: Can spawn a rocket in front of it but can only do it after killing 3 pieces
King: can spawn a satellite but only has 3 uses.
