7:03 Saagar finally brings up the points that Canadians who watch this show have been screaming about for years. Housing and Immigration have been handled incredibly poorly. You can't bring in nearly 5 million people in a 2 year period in a country of 41 million people, while already in a years long housing crisis.

Just to correct Crystal, in Canada the prime minister is head of government, not Head of State. Head of State is the British Monarch represented in Canada by the Governor General.
@karltyler586 What do you mean "ZERO...legal meaning"? It's literally written into the Canadian constitution. It's UNDERSTOOD to be ceremonial, but if the GG decided to flex, there's literally nothing the government could do about it constitutionally.
Stopped watching this when I realized they no next to nothing about the Canadian economy. Saagar makes the erroneous assertion that the Canadian dollar isn’t that far of the American dollar. FYI the US dollar is currently worth $1.44 Canadian dollars.
When I was watching the CBC in December, the reporter says it will inflate more between 3 to 6 months. When Canadians talks about deporting temporary immigrants due lack of resources it is a serious issue.
Things are bad in Canada but I fail to see how joining the US would help with anything. It wouldn't solve the housing crisis. The healthcare system is bad but even accounting for taxation, Canadians pay less per capita for healthcare, and the whole United Healthcare saga is not making a positive case for the American system. Income inequality is lower in Canada. Gun violence is significantly lower. Canada needs leadership, not to sell itself to the US. We have so many resources and land that the state of this country is even more laughable. Also, would Trump respect language rights? Maybe Quebec would finally be independent if this went ahead!

To be fair, stepping down is often what happens in Canada. Chretien, Mulroney all stepped down after about 10 years. This isn't the same as being kicked out. It's more like reading the tea leaves.
half correct for sure. All 3 stepped down for very different reasons though. Chretien was old and done. Mulroney was a clown and people had started to point out his bright red shoes. "Neolib era officially over" is blatantly false...the Conservative Party is also a mostly neoliberal party. The differences between them and the also neoliberal Liberals are extremely marginal. There are very few Mike Huckabees and Mitch McConnells in Canadian politics. The Neocon wing of the Conservative Party is very small and rather weak
@thepfcs11 Trudeau by definition is NeoLiberal. Though he would say Liberal in the Canadian Liberal Party definition for 150 plus yrs. We don't really have NeoCons up here. As a Canadian living in the US, Saagar is pretty accurate in his criticism about Canada's deterioration under Trudeau. However, he is, in typical rightie fashion, dead wrong about his assessment of Canada's dependence on the US for trade and security. Commercially, the US and Canada are both wholly and factually INTERdependent on trade. A ceasing of it in its entirety would devastate both countries. On security, the US needs Canada more than the other way around due to NORAD. No country or rogue state is aiming for us. In that regard, our biggest concern is catching a US stray. We are the first line of defense and vital US partner against Russia via the North Pole.
Idk about trade, but your dead wrong on security. Every single us adversary sees canada as a back door to infiltrate the us. Take china's keen interest and influence over Canadian politics. The us shields Canada from this, not the other way around.

Correction from Canada - Freeland was fired from position of Finance Minister Friday Dec 13th, to be replaced by Mark Carney, but Freeland was to hold the position of Deputy PM and take on a new position working directly with the incoming US administration. Monday Dec 16 Freeland resigned and used this opportunity to separate herself from the downward spiral of the Trudeau government. Well played, but nothing sincere about this move.
And then in Trudeau's speech he highlighted how integral she was to each of his decisions over the past 10 yrs.. basically saying if I'm going down I'm taking you with me

In what way has Trudeau done better than Harper? Trudeau has 2 ethics violations, Harper has none. Harper’s tenure resulted in a balanced budget, low crime, affordable homes, strong dollar, and competitive wages. Saagar: thank you for understanding how bad it is in Canada. Still somehow some Americans on the left continue to think things are better in Canada than they are in the United States. I am Canadian in America. I’ve been here for 10 years. Since I’ve left Canada the country has fallen off a cliff in direct lock step with Justin Trudeau and his policies. make no mistake about it: the cost of living in Canada is significantly worse than in America. The cost of housing in Canada is significantly worse. The outlook significantly worse, and you can draw straight lines from Justin Trudeau‘s policies to these exact outcomes. His critics have been pointing this out for a long time, and he has turned a deaf ear to them at best or called them bigots at worst. Amazing how people start talking about Canadian politics and it's OMG! this and OMG! that, and new eras and fraught political environments. Yes, there are issues in Canada. Frankly Trudeau's been taking self inflicted injuries since he first became PM. Having said that, it's been a decade. Canadians swing from the Liberals to the Conservatives pretty consistently like that barring particularly bad politicians. The issue of being second fiddle to the US has existed for the entirety of Canada's existence as a country. No we are not going to join the US. Taking that position would be political suicide even for a Conservative government. The government will give on some issues and push back on others, just like every Canadian government that has ever existed. As for the stupid title, I'll believe the Liberals giving up Neoliberalism is possible the day after Nancy Pelosi refuses billionaire donations. With Trudeau leaving they will need to choose a new leader and reset people's perceptions of the party before the opposition has a chance to force a no confidence vote. I've seen them recover from being almost eliminated from government completely, so I would not put it past them to fast track some policies they promised and never delivered on. If they managed decided to go through with election reform in the manner of Proportional Representation, they could get NDP or Bloc support to keep them in government for a little longer, recover some ground in the polls, and make it much harder for the Conservatives to get a majority government, all in one fell swoop. Not saying it will happen, but it an option for them, and there has been some renewed talk about PR recently, and it seemed like Trudeau was the obstruction to making it happen
I'm surprised that even, or maybe especially, as Americans that they would take the story of internal strife within the party, and Christia Freeland's stated "reasons" for leaving at gave value. There is internal strife in the Liberal party BECAUSE THEY ARE LOOSING. That strife is literally the people who want to have a chance in the next election pushing Trudeau to leave. Christia Freeland resigned because she knew she needed to distance herself from Trudeau before he drags her down. There isn't any real trouble in the party aside from strategizing how they get through the next election in the best position possible. And yes, the Trump administration can hurt Canada economically, but we're also the US's largest trading partner. Oil, lumber, dairy, and a whole bunch of other issues have literally been negotiated back and forth for as long as I've been old enough to pay attention to politics. Slap tariffs on Canadian goods and Americans loose their jobs. We know it. So we're not in that bad of a negotiating position as Sagaar seems to think. Honestly, I know they know David Dole, they could at least check out his take on these issues to see where they could do some extra research
The Canadian Dollar is currently about 30% lower than the American Dollar. That's about the same place it was sitting before the 2008 Global Recession caused by the American housing market crash. The level of inflation we went through was bad, but it was the unprecedented failure of the Trudeau government to address the Greedflation aspect of it, as well trying to mask recession precursor signs through increasing immigration which drastically exacerbated the existing housing affordability crisis that have really turned the average person against Trudeau. Also, the Conservatives have been outspending the Liberals in advertising by something like 5:1, so the opposition has been pressing the opportunity to steer the narrative
As a Canadian I kind of hope trump does try to up the pressure. Nothing unites a people like a foreign threat. I’m fairly pro US, but Trumps rhetoric is lunacy.
You false sense that you have leverage over the US is a fantasy.
Idk about trade, but your dead wrong on security. Every single us adversary sees canada as a back door to infiltrate the us. Take china's keen interest and influence over Canadian politics. The us shields Canada from this, not the other way around.

Saagar: I’m Tanned and rested..
One of these things is always true bud 😂
More so than usual!
TAN MAN STRIKES AGAIN
Lol he doesn't look a single shade darker. Maybe it was a deadpan joke that flew over our heads.
@@venenodelalengua I reckon it was actually haha
😆 if that was a joke the delivery was actually hilarious 😂
As a Canadian I kind of hope trump does try to up the pressure. Nothing unites a people like a foreign threat. I’m fairly pro US, but Trumps rhetoric is lunacy. I think even his rhetoric will be damaging as it is going to force Canada to take a hard look at diversifying its trading partners and on-shoring more industry. It could actually grow our economy as it would require building infrastructure to get more resources to tidewater
Never forget Gonzalo Lira.
Understand what's going on.
Honestly, I might unsub because of Saagar. As a Canadian, this is such offensive discourse.
Saagar is always just getting back from a vacation 😂
Saagar is alive!
What an absolutely useless 0 information video.
