For everyone wondering!! Surreal made a community post about 2 months ago. If you go on the community tap on his RUclips you can see that he won’t as active anymore.
Give this a like so more people know that he’s doing something he loves doing and isn’t dead!
Man I really miss this channel. I loved your Warhammer 2-3 cinematic battle playthroughs, it was something entirely new and refreshingly different to have amazing camera work, lore reading during battles, and even your own role play. You were a joy to watch, miss you surreal
What happened to him?
@@dumplingshakes22 he hasn’t uploaded in a while and hasn’t made a cinematic campaign since the Gelt one. They were always amazing to watch for me as I am the “why?” person whenever I hear that Grail Knights lose to Blood Knights
I was just trying to figure out what happened to him I miss his stuff
@@xJ0LLYR0GERxhe got a job in the gaming industry. Posted a while back about not going to active nearly as much due to it
Hi folks -- I really enjoyed this game since you know how much I love turn based tactical games. I ONLY take sponsorships from games that I think are good and I personally play. If you are interested in this one, please consider clicking on the link they gave me. It'll lead you to the Steam store page. Wishlisting afterwards is the BEST way to help game devs you like with supporting their game before release! bit.ly/3GaI3cE -- okay, love you guys. See you soon.
Awesome! Love the black Prince and the Plantagenets too🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This looks pretty fun. I hope it’ll be mod compatible. Imagine LOTR or Game of thrones using this engine.
"In courage, i serve" - The Black Prince's actual personal family words/motto. What a Legend.
This game looks pretty interesting. Looks like a mix between XCOM and a top-down RPG like the Pathfinder games. I like how it's portrayed from the French side. A lot of (Anglophone) media on the 100 Years War tends to depict England as the good guys, even though they started the war, and then just raided undefended villages for a century. My only real criticism would be the art direction: this just looks like D&D, whereas I would have prefered a more realistic look, like Kingdom Come, or the medieval mod for TW Attila
I also like that perspective too. It’s always what interests me in games like these.
The idea that it even was an England vs France war of conquest is a modern take on the conflict, one generally propagated by the victorious House of Valois after the war to further their legitimacy. It started, and spent most of it's time across the numerous conflicts and truces, as a war of succession, Valois vs Plantagenet. Plantagenet who's origins were not only in Anjou (Hence the earlier Angevin period), but whom had intermarried with the French aristocracy and royalty numerous times.
At the time of the beginning of the war, the English monarchs did not even speak English, but rather French, and the conflict began after the three sons and successors of Philip IV died without heirs of their own. Thus, Philip IV's daughter, Isabella of France, put forward her son's claim. Her son being the 15 year old Edward III. And on the opposite side was Philip VI, the nephew of Philip IV. (Whilst the throne of Navarre, under whom's laws women could succeed for themselves, passed to Joan of Navarre).
As to who started the war, again, that's complicated, as failed diplomacy led to Valois confiscating the Duchy of Aquitaine, which had been held by the Angevins and Plantagenets since Eleanor of Aquitaine passed the land to her descendants. This led to Edward refusing to pay homage to the King of France for the lands held on the continent, putting forth now that he was the legitimate King of France, and things continued to spiral from there.
Funnily enough, the English and later British monarchs continued to maintain a formal claim to the throne of France until 1801, when they found themselves friends with the Bourbons.
EDIT: And a detail I forgot to add is that the Plantagenets had plenty of allies on the continent as well, including ones that went back and forth a few times during the war (Which makes sense given the conflicts and truces and on and off war lasted over a century) but also ones that remained aligned to Plantagenet for the entire length of their involvement.
It was, in fact, the hundred years war that helped to catalyse the growing idea nationalism within the two countries, although on within France to something of a greater degree, especially in the aftermath of the wars.
@@SurrealBeliefs Even in fantasy, the setting is almost exclusively English, maybe a bit of Irish if you’re lucky. (I blame Tolkien.) It’s only in recent years that medieval fantasy has outgrown the British Isles, with the Witcher introducing elements of Polish folklore
If you play as France it would be wicked to have French voice acting as a option. How pretty is the world map tho, lit by the candle, so pretty.
The importance of where your characters face remind me of Triangle Strategy, how neat is Archer using the arrows hand to hand when the enemy is close.
I've been subscribed to this channel since the Durthu playthrough of Warhammer Total War seven years ago and I just realized it has 318,000 subscribers now. It's awesome to see good people succeed. Well done @surrealbeliefs!
thanks surreal for always making the best videos and recomending the best games, wouldn't have anything fun to play if not for you👍
Didn’t know about this game. Very cool
Thanks!
This is me impatiently waiting for Dark Urge playthrough. D:
Downloading the demo now, looks very promising.
THE BLACK PRINCE YEAH! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Everything but the art style reminds me of Wildermyth, which I love. Especially the overworld and ability to have multiple squads doing different things in different places. Are there more games like that, that also have the turn- and grid-based combat? Downloading the demo now.
I'd love to see more Rogue Trader.
Another exciting video from the legend himself
You're so kind!
@@SurrealBeliefslove your content 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Pretty cool game. I'm a little surprised there hasn't been more X-Com like games with a medieval setting. Maybe because overwatch doesn't have the same importance? In King Arthur for example I'd argue at least on higher difficulties you're better off ignoring it.
Wartales!!!
Thought of this when I first played xcom like 10 years ago. Figured someone would eventually make it.
Be careful if you ever use a character that comes with a bear. Had it bug out and made it impossible to end the turn timer. Overall though great video and excited for the game once it’s got some polish!
Dang, this looks fun, and I've never heard of it before.
It’s a fun one! Comparable to Wartale.
Recent subscriber due to the Xcom 40k mod campaign. What happened though, did Surreal go on vacation? Hope all's good
You're amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is so surreal
Oh no.
Looks sick
All I care about is how much it is customizable and moddable : hair/beard styles, clothes, armors, weapons, etc. I want 1000 of each.
I got over the customization! It’s in the neat chapters I provided. You can color pretty much everything what you want.
@@SurrealBeliefs I don't really like it, it is not very intuitive. It would be much better to have a menu with thumbnail images of what the clothing/hair style items looks like. I'm not a fan of the CK3 style of customizing your characters. Other than that, the game looks interesting and I'll probably give it a try, but I get bored quickly, hence why I like customization so much.
You're the Best! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🫡
It would be cool if the fire or poison flasks you throw leave residual fire or poison for a turn or two. Also, if your friendly stands in the path between one of your men and enemy, I'd like to see a chance you hit your own men.
Every hit lands? Is there a defence stat or something? It’s actually really hard to hit actively defending foe in a melee
Man, 12 years ago I was in HS laughing my ass off at your video of the orcs poking soldiers at the black gate.
Haven’t supported as much as I should have in that time, I’ll do better bro. ❤
I’m already playing HD2, GBFRelink, LE, and Mind over Magic, now I need to make time for another game
cool new pfp
with king Arthur and dragons dogmas 2 coming is this game worth it. also playing ff7r rebirth
graphics and ui reminds me a lot of wartales
I can definitely see that.
Cool looking game though personally I would prefer to play as the English seeing as I am English, same as assassin creed revolution irritated me because it made the Byzantines the bad guys! It seems a bit like expedition Rome! Has anyone played that? It’s pretty good!
I actually was googling, a few months ago, to see if there was a d&d themed game that played like xcom, and found nothing. Add Mages and Clerics (I'm sure there will be a mod, if not a dlc) and voila!
What other game have these guys made?
it reminds me of Solasta without the magic
Looks great just hope its not riddild with paywalls or micro transactions/ ill wait til after a couple of months of reviews.
Where'd ya go??
ALI MY FRIEND SLAM
Hey wassup! I saw your tweet you need a professional editor right?
Why I see this game and I always said "a game of thrones xcom game" 😂
anyway I pre ordered the game can't wait
Let’s gooooo!
Surreal have you tried wartales?
I've been meaning to. It seems very fun.
Where did surreal go?
I dunno but I miss him..
Wartales anyone?
Not a fan of the strong American accents for the voice actors
Would be better if you could play as the English
If cover works against melee the game is stupid
Oh, I love woke medieval games. Stinks of Sweet Baby Inc.
It was on my preorder until I saw that. Hard pass for me.
Where is the wokeness I dint spot it ?
Voice acting is painfully bad.
