The superior hunter brags about how close he was to the game. -Jeff Cooper
That's such an awesome bull. Good job dude.
Great Video! Elk hunting is a "cat and mouse" hunt game with elk having the home court advantage, ... improvise, adapt, and overcome!

Welcome to western states hunting. 400-550 yard shots are not uncommon. Living in Northern UT I’ve hunted Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Not trying to brag but I once harvested an antelope in Wyoming at 625 yards getting any closer was not an option. I know my rifle very well and the ballistics on the bullets I shoot. I don’t consider myself a long range shooter I try to get within at least 300 yards whenever possible but out in this wide open country that is not always an option. I guess my point is if you are planning a western states hunt you should be prepared to take long range shots with a rifle that can pack a punch. Elk are tough!! Be comfortable shooting at least 400 yards and prepared for something a tad bit farther if necessary. Nice bull Jason!
Hunting is life
I was just in Savery Wyoming for an Archery elk hunt for an entire week and didn't see a single elk😭. Debating whether or not to drive the 16 hrs back for rifle season..
Great bull I’m glad you got him after the flank shot. What was the reason for switching guns in middle of the hunt?
I was curious about that too. Maybe that rifle was set up for longer range shooting?
Excellent video
Switched rifles because the scope on the first rifle had issues with the reticle.
Is the ranch open to the public to hunt are do you have to draw or pay or what

Let's be honest, this is not hunting. It is just killing. All you have to do is get your wallet out and then some dude who knows exactly where the private land elk are walks you up to them where you select one like catalog shopping. Almost all of the adventure and challenge are missing from the experience in my opinion, but to each their own. The result is still the same, a whole pile of organic meat!
+thajman hunting free range elk on private land isn’t a guarantee by any means and there are years where I don’t harvest an elk. A general tag on public land can be a lot more work but a draw tag on public land in a blue chip unit is often better but you often have to wait several years, especially being a nonresident.
Not only that in this area there is a bunch of hazing on the edge of the ranch to keep them in.
thajman I agree 100%. Well said
well said. bravo.
people shoot practice shooting more a lot more!!!
Arya Moshrefi practice people shoot more shooting more a lot shoot people practice more
Arya Moshrefi. Practice English more a lot more!
Horrible shot in the hips
Actually each hit was lethal. First shot took the liver and the second shot took out a lung. Elk didn’t go far and was dead within a few minutes of the first shot.
Shooting at game animals at over 300 yards is not hunting! You can buy all the technology you want, practice, and concentrate on filling your tag anyway you can, but it is sniping, not hunting.
So you decide what is hunting and what isn't? 300 yards isn't even a long shot. That's a pretty typical shot in many areas of the west. Get a life loser.
That is better known as an opinion. Welcome to yours, but dont confuse it for anything more.
