I feel the same way when I listen to the classics. It was nice hearing him play together with Mike Oldfield on the latter's album "Music of the Spheres" - brilliant piece of music. It became a number one album on the classical chart. Deservedly so. 🙂
I used to make fun of Lang Lang quite a bit but he’s so much more of a person (and pianist) that I gave him credit for. A truly great individual, hope to see him live one time.
For just about anything anyone wishes to accomplish, it’s practice, practice, practice, and probably the most difficult part of it is knowing what to practice in order to reach the desired goal. For the Piano, seems it’s got to be scales and Hanon at bare minimum. But, you must have the passion, and he certainly has it, and is very inspirational! Great interview by the ballerina!
Dr. Siracha uhm, no thanks. I'll have people being critical any day, if people want to judge him they shouldn't be afraid to contradict someone else's taste
@@GothicKin hey I think you might not have seen our comments clearly. He isnt saying to not be critical or judgemental or to disagree with someone else's taste. he is such an engaging conversationalist...besides being a lovely pianist. So he is a bit of a showman...he deserves that bit of freedom because he is very very talented...
His interpretation of Scherzo No.2 is so unique... How he varied the pace according to his emotion and avoided the pedal to create very jumpy and energetic melodies were uncommon among any interpretations I had listened to. Lovely.
It’s a level that Lang Lang understands. Erudite he isn’t. A technician he is. BTW. Viennese also applaud inappropriately. Heard such also during the 4th Ballade of Chopin in Middle-East!!! Wish Lang had something of substance to say, verbally and musically. Swooning doesn’t cut it.

There’s a feeling that he has no sadness - I think this is the issue most people have with his playing. Everything is “beautiful” instead of tragic - “a beautiful summer night on the water” for instance. This is missing the heart and horribly sad soul of what most of these composers put into these pieces.
I normally find Lang's gestures annoying but I have to admit that: 1)the scherzo was beautifully played, 2) the reporter was so damn fake and irritating that I could not find any space to be annoyed by Lang. Do you really need to show a fake grin for like 4 minutes at a time while interviewing someone?
I don't like everything he did, but I don't get why people diss this guy so much. He not only played the best Don Juan Fantasy ever, but he sometimes does Horowitz-style nuances that do stuff to my head. Imagine what he would be like if he practised as much as most other professionals do.

Beautiful June, so beautiful. Langlang's interpretation is genius
Speechless ,extremely gifted ,sensible ,amazing technique ,! Sublime !! Love, love your playing Lang !!
Once a concert pianist can afford to practice just 2 hours, he's on top of the game.
Lang Lang in the end played the Chopin Scherzo No.2 so beautifully but it was too short. I really would like to hear more.

Scales, Hanon? Nah, not really, Is practice, honesty and ambition all at the same time for years 😊😅
Never met a Lang Lang hater who could outplay him. Personally I throughly enjoy his animated composure. Cheers
