Although I'm not really into yoyo's the process is very instructive. Since I have just a 3/4 spindle gouge a round nose scraper and a roughing tool in my arsenal the idea of turning a pen or ... keeps me watching and learning. Bottom line, keep up the great work and I really appreciate your teaching style. Thank you!
Earl I have many turning tools and yet I still make my own from old chisels or other bits of metal. If you know a welder you can have an expensive tool made from a small piece of HSS. These can be purchased fro Grizzely Industiral. Sam
Thank you, I needed your instruction because I now realize that I have been over sanding acrylic. I make some acrylic pens and with your info and some practice, I can improve my finish for sure.
Something I did not mention in the video is that you must leave the surface really smooth and without tool marks. Then you can begin sanding with 220 grit. And I do not do any dry sanding....only wet sand with water. These types of materials will overheat and melt if you are not careful. Sam
Was your last trick walking the dog? LOL I was a yoyo Wiz when I was a kid. Loosen the knot on the shaft so it can spin freely when you throw it down. It will spin until you flick your wrist and it will zip back up in your palm. I just looked at the latest generation of yoyos at the toy store. 50 bucks for a yoyo? It had roller bearings on the shaft and thing's I've never seen before. Crazy! Good luck and thanks for sharing.
Tom Any trick I can perform on the yoyo is partly accidental. Check out some of the stuff that YoYoSpin turns. His yoyo are over the top. Some of the videos on youtube of yoyo tricks is mind-blowing, crazy. Thanks for watching. Sam
Gerald, I do lots of buffing and have used some of Meguiar's compounds. I am not familiar with Plast-X. I will check it out. Always looking for an edge. Thanks Sam
WYOMINGWOODTURNER Many of these products are very much alike, if not exactly the same. I have been using Tuttle Wax "Scratch and Swirl Remover". It works great and reasonably priced, at Walmart. $3.52 for 11 oz. Look for any thing that says "Removes Swirls". Good video. Thanks for sharing Cip Mendez

Sam ... I have had good luck with Meguiar's Plast-X ... I get it at AutoZone but other similar stores carry it.

Where did you get the raw material for the yoyo? Thanks!
+Red Agent At 42 seconds in, it says search John Berkeley (UK) He has a website with lots of alternative materials. Sam
+WYOMINGWOODTURNER Thank you so much! Cool beans.
