One inmate would be chosen to cook for the screws, he would be carefully selected by the hierarchy based on his general demeanor, his work ethic, the way he kept his cell and himself. He would be given trustee status and often the same food he was cooking for the screws, this is a coveted position within the prison system. He would also be fully stocked up on things like coffee & sugar, it is a privileged position in prison.
@@ngabushallday6642 Yeah we had a couple of crims doing that. Our food got sabotaged a few times so they made the decision that all the kitchen workers ate what the screws ate to stop it from happening. We once caught a kitchen worker with a glove finger full of blood that he was going to tip in our food. We got tipped off by another prisoner and caught the prick. After that incident, kitchen workers ate food from the officers point. When we saw them eating the food, we knew it was Ok to eat.
@Mrbuckaroonie.. Mate, I'm talking about prisons comprised of separate pods/units, each one of those pods or units have an officers mess where they eat, a kitchen where the food is prepared on site. They don't eat anything that comes out of the main kitchen, at all. The trustee comes directly from that pod. That is a major part of the reason he is looked after by the screws in terms of food & other bits & pieces.
