- Fraud alert! This is the tale of how I fell prey to one of the many gift card scams out there. They got me as I was trying to get back into my Facebook business account that I got locked out of. I called what I thought was the Facebook call center but I was wrong. If anyone tells you you need to buy gift cards to verify your location and identity you know it's a scam and turn it on them...scambait baby!

i got scammed through google play cards yesterday and lost 800€, all of my nerves and precious lifetime…. feeling dumb and ashamed i crossed your video and feel a little more lifted up now. thank you for your positive & supportive words. we are victims of sophisticated criminals. that happens whenever you are the are the most vulnerable and has nothing to do with your intelligence. *sighs* thank you again spreading this message!

These scams are incredibly sophisticated. Their websites match exactly a Facebook page or a Google account etc but the first sign of it being a fraud is when the person says You must buy a gift card for authorization and identification !!
Great video!!!I got hit too....Lesson learned the hard way and you are indeed right to trust that instinct and not ignore it

@@brandviva I was behind a person at a Walgreens that was buying Google play cards and the cashier questioned why they were buying these cards and the person stated they were on the phone with a technical support person and the cashier said it's a massive scam and to immediately hang up the phone and the cashier asked this person to bring the cards back in to try to stop payment but I think the cards were immediately emptied ! These scams are very sophisticated and anyone can fall for them,!

My dad received a phone call from the bank but it was a scam and he fell for it. He got his money back and he told me that scammer sounded so professional and my dad actually thought it was the bank.
I was selling something online and the buyer wanted to see more images of what I was selling so I emailed them some photos and they asked to make the payment through PayPal and I received the PayPal emails (that looked so genuine and convincing), I had noticed that there was no money in my PayPal account so I looked at the email and it said something like the payment has been deducted from the buyer's account but cannot be credited to your account until we receive the gift cards for verification purposes and I thought I'm new to PayPal so maybe this just a way to verify it is me receiving the payment and I bought £200 in Amazon vouchers because I thought the PayPal emails were genuine. Then I received an email saying that PayPal had accidentally deducted an extra £100 from the buyer's account and I had 48 hours to send them an extra £100 in Amazon vouchers and I was going buy an extra £100 but thankfully Amazon stopped the payment and blocked my account (I got it back) so I looked at that PayPal email that asked me for the extra £100 and I noticed a bunch of grammar mistakes and I looked at the from email address and that is when I realized that I had just been scamed. So I stopped responding to the scamers emails and I blocked their email address and I reported the fake PayPal emails to PayPal. I also reported the fraud to Amazon and they thankfully they permanently suspended the claimers account for fraudulent activities.
Scammer will have multiple accounts on Amazon, Ebay, Shpock and all other selling platforms so the Amazon account that got suspended will be one of at least 30 Amazon accounts.
These scams are very sophisticated and so easy for people to fall for so it is true that anyone can fall for a scam.

Came on youtube to find out if this was a new scam, now I'm watching your video. This morning I got a frantic email from a friend wanting me to buy $300 worth of Google Play cards for her niece and she promised to pay me back when she got home. Your video was very helpful! I suspected it was a scam but you confirmed it. I emailed my "Friend's" husband to let him know his wife's email had been hacked.

I was originally searching for a different content creator that I watched several months ago that did a video on this scam. I wanted to show it to a friend that was approached on Plenty of Fish.
Also tried helping a friend getting on her feet. But it might of been a scam too but never knew for sure. Always believe it for a good cause.

Thanks for sharing this video I was in the process of getting scam the same way you were for my Facebook. I was thinking to myself why should I have to get a gift card to get my Facebook account back. And what makes it so strange I called them too. He was telling me I need to purchase $100 gift card and he said I was going to get my money back And he said it's the only way to identify me to get my account unlocked. Lucky for me I didn't have the money in my account to purchase a gift card. My subconscious mind told me to do a research on this and this is when I found you,I said oh my God this is the same thing I'm going through. And thanks for sharing this video cuz you had saved me
I got scamed but it was the Amazon gift card scam and I lost £200 so I feel you man.
You should LISTEN to your wife in the first place! So was not Facebook any way. Thank for sharing to help others a learning lesson.
My grandma almost got scammed by that because the person asking for them was really nice but her account got hacked so she sort of believed it
Oh man, i am glad i hear your stories. I also got scam today on buying google play....(sigh) i wish i could refund of my loses.
You could report it to Google as gift card abuse/claimed by a fraudster. If not report you could report the scam to your local police.
This happened to me yesterday. I was at work when I withdrew a lot of money into the Google Play Cards because my money will be "safeguarded".
I got scam. I learned from my mistakes 😔
I bought mine from a store, tried to use it, says need more information to use, contacted Google and they say not eligible for appeal. How about more information or should I just assume someone at Google stole my money.

OMG this happened to me in almost the same manner. The only thing I did was not send the codes to the scammers. I still have $600 since I sold one of them for less money than I paid, but at least I'm getting something. And, I felt like the biggest dummy and yes embarrassed too when I went back in to talk with them. I contacted Google, but they wouldn't refund my money even though they knew they were not activated. I won't ever fall again for it. Rest assured.

I got Scammed by Google Play for Four Hundred Dollars, and it's sitting in my account and I Can't use it because my RUclips and Government name are Different so there's no way for me to update my Gift card info and use my Money. They don't have Phone Support and Email support is slow and crappy. (Legend has it)
I Still can't use my Money till this Day.

I don't know but im getting the "free gift cards" reccomended but i legit don't have th option that lets you never see the channel uploads ever again. Its really sad to see fake accounts posting how great it is. The post literally had 16 comments and 3k likes. And i commented there before. Guess what happened. They deleted my comment.

Shane Filan page messaged me introducing that he himself is the one who sends me a message and require me to buy Google Play Gift Card. But I don’t think so if it is true. I just ignored it.
