This makes me want to crack open a Molson and a bag of all dressed chips. Sending Canada and Rush fans/Band members Love and respect from USA !! Condolences to the Peart Family.
RIP Neil Peart. September 12, 1952 - January 7, 2020 (Age 67). He is and always will be the best drummer in the world. Nobody can't even come close to matching his style. The king of the drumming world. I grew up spending countless hours listening to Rush songs on MTV and Stereo Panama radio station from 1984- 1991. He wrote the lyrics adding a unique philosophy and strong messages that shaped my teenage years. Great nostalgia. Neil Peart you will remain forever closer to the heart of all Rush fans worldwide !
@@cpeacock1973 Bonham couldn't come close to the technical ability and precision of Neil Peart , Rush music is technically very hard to play , Bonham was drunk or stoned most of the time and would be shocked at the talent of Neil Peart !
A kindness. Hey it's been a while but the sensitivity takes it's time to heal. The kindness that there is to allow some close friends to play along with their song while you take it easy and make it look super good. That is just some good Canadian people being themselves. Sometimes, when we shine, we shine so bright.
This song now has a whole new meaning. You're gone but we will NEVER forget you Neil. You touched all of us. You will be missed tremendously. We will all keep you Closer to the Heart.
Mike Smith (Bubbles) You ROCK! because of your fantastic work on trailer park boys you turned me on to rush.... you are converting many a people!, including my 7 and 10 year old! Love you bubs! we got your belly!!
Neil’s passing will end Rush, just as Bonham’s passing ended Led Zeppelin. There can’t be either band, without either drummer. They both drove the engine...RIP Mr. Peart. Michigan loves Rush!!!!
So tragic not just for Neil. Alex commented recently that he has not been inspired since Neil died. Don't know if he still plays golf, which was his other passion. Haven't heard if Geddy has made any statements concerning Neil's death other than the one he put out in the immediate aftermath. Hope at some point both of them can find some peace and inspiration and put out some new music, either together or as individuals.
@@geetarman Granted that Peart was also the lyricist. But to say that Bonzo could just be "replaced" is the most ignorant comment I have read. Bonzo wasn't simply a drummer, just like Peart. He was an amazing talent. They are 1 and 1A in the ranks of the greatest rock drummers of all time. You tell The Who about just replacing Keith Moon. They NEVER sounded the same. Neither would Zeppelin without Bonham. What a stupid comment. Bonzo was every bit the "engine" that Peart was.
im just now starting to watch TPB in january 2022 in oklahoma city....saw Rush 20 times starting in 1980 and have been hearing about TPB for a while and seeing bubbles on the big screen at Rush concerts but never realized it was on netflix....anyway im 5 episodes in and loving it
Lifeson is STILL the most underrated guitarist. Love how Neil is flat out ferocious and completely in the zone. Geddy, well he is always gonna be the bassist of all bassists.
Alex, Geddy and Neil imho never got as much love and appreciation for what they do. They were perfectionists if what they wrote or the sound they weren't doing wasn't to their high standards they kept pushing themselves to get it perfect not just putting songs out there to make money. They are and will always be true "Artists"
when I typed "bubbles plays closer to the heart" I was only expecting to get the scene in the show where he plays a piece of it. I didn't expect to get a whole song.
This is simply a Masterpiece!? Wow, I mean, incredible job on "Bubbles" part, he really has some decent talent on rhythm guitar. RIP Neil. You are performing with all the GOAT and they are smiling.
Awwwwww. This is 💯 Awwwwsem. My fellow Canadians Rockin out. Ive seen Rush 7 Times Live, dtarted eith The Permanent Waves Tour in '80, inChicago/LA. & San Diego Cali. The actor who plays bubbles actually REALLY likes rush, so I get a big bubbly happy feeling seeing him in this video. Like, good for you dude! I'm happy because that's happy-Makin-all-around stuff.
You've come so far, dude! From living in a shed with your kitties, to being a big-time actor, rocking with Rush, and being the goalie for the Arizona Coyotes! A huge inspiration and role model!
BUBBLES AND RUSH. WHAT AN AWESOME COMBO. RIP NEAL I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING RUSH FOR 43 YEARS. THERE A BIG PART OF MY MUSICAL LIFE. GLAD I GOT TO SEE THEM IN 2013 BEFORE WE LOST NEAL.
Not only are the members of Rush the three GREATEST MUSICIANS ever to be in the same band, but better still they're really good guy's. That's a nice thing to be able to say about your favorite band!! :)
Imagine being so talented as a band that you just go into a studio to record a little shabang for fan service and satire and you fucking make a masterpiece. Who could do this? Rush. Rush does this. Or did. RIP to Peart aka “The Professor”. The man who literally reinvented the way people not only look at the drums but how drummers and other musicians look at other instruments. Rush: what a fkn concept!
Rush is type of music that is uplifting, feel good, replenishes my soul !!!!!! I hope they have many, many, years still to play and tour!!!!! When they come to my town I hope to see them again. Hats off to you guys !!!!!
After the Different Stages vid this is my second fav performance of this classic Rush song. The accompaniment and harmonies are what make this sound so special.
Woody81 You are on crack. Ginger Baker sure. I think you'll need to do research. Many drummers concur Neil is the best in interview after interview. Intricacy of an orchestra. Skill beyond any. Size of drum kit makes him less talented wtf does that mean? He knows how to use many more percussion instruments and therefore is less talented. There weren't many before GB to mimic, modify, or emulate in that style. By the way GB style is simplistic with not much stop times and or time changes. Rush was recording near heavy metal 10 years before you were born sir. Professor, songwriter, hall of famer. To be fair GB is a famer as well, but he hasn't done diddly since Cream. Rush has done how many albums since Cream disbanded. GB is also a douche in interviews and in general.
How bad ass would it be to put those headsets on, plug in and actually have your playing recorded in a studio with Rush?! As Bubbles would say that would be "DECENT"!!!
Anytime I want to raise my vibration, I watch this video. The end always makes me laugh out loud when Geddy Lee speaks of a different song being in there.
Recorded in Metalworks studio 1... only realised it years later, after my wife noticed, "Hey isn't that the same studio you guys recorded in?" I was already awestruck having the opportunity to record there with all the gold records, posters and autographs all over the place. Now I watch this and remember all the great times my band had in that room. That Neve Console was a thing of beauty.
Bubbles is the only person I know who can meet his favorite band, perform with them and still stay in character
Character? What character? Are you talking about that bit Bubbles does where he pretends to be some cocksucker named Mike Smith?
Love you bubbles

Bubbles, I can't express how jealous I am. Freakin Decent!
At least it was bubbles and not Corey or Trevor.. those two are fuckin dumb
Mike Smith/Bubbles was a guitarist in a band before.
Nithin Patil yep, Sandbox, a band from Atlantic Canada.

Man , I miss RUSH…. 😢 soundtrack of my youth. Thank you. (Love you too Bubbles 🐈⬛)
A TPB, a BNL, and RUSH. Awesome dose of Canadiana!❤️🇨🇦❤️
Peart was great, Bonham was the greatest
Stop being a wuss
@@cpeacock1973 Bonham couldn't come close to the technical ability and precision of Neil Peart , Rush music is technically very hard to play , Bonham was drunk or stoned most of the time and would be shocked at the talent of Neil Peart !
WELL SAID BROTHER!
Well said sir well said 😎👍
A kindness. Hey it's been a while but the sensitivity takes it's time to heal. The kindness that there is to allow some close friends to play along with their song while you take it easy and make it look super good. That is just some good Canadian people being themselves.
Sometimes, when we shine, we shine so bright.

This never gets old as many times I watch it RIP Neil you gave us great music
Man, I get so emotional when watching them play this song in person. Best trio to ever exist and RIP The Professor

+stealth combat7 He knows, it's from Trailer Park Boys. Ricky kidnaps Alex Lifeson and tells him to play "that Diane Sawyer song".
+stealth combat7 its a tv show
This song now has a whole new meaning. You're gone but we will NEVER forget you Neil. You touched all of us. You will be missed tremendously. We will all keep you Closer to the Heart.
I cant believe its been over a year already that he passed ..RIP Neil ...
This is my favorite version of the song! totally worth watching!
Rush ended when Neil announced his retirement from touring. Alex said they wouldn't continue without him
thebigfranker For F sake...the point is, death brings finality. If Neil we’re still walking the earth, the POSSIBILITY would remain.
@@mikemeyer7759 nope his hands and wrist were "shot". Full of arthritis and severe pain.
Not every day you see something this frickin cool!! Bonus Rush tune with backing vocals!
This makes me proud to be Canadian. Rest well Mr. Peart and we thank you.
I can’t watch anything by Rush without experiencing a moment of fleeting but abject sorrow. RIP Neil Peart.
Don't forget Ed Robertson, from the Barenaked Ladies also jamming on this tune and providing great harmonies with Bubbles and Rush!
I was wondering who that was.
I was waiting for someone to recognize him!
Thank you for that!
I love how Ed from Barenaked Ladies is playing with them
I was wondering if that was him.
Thanks for clearing that up. Always wondered who that was.
Thanks for giving me his name. I was like, I know that dude from somewhere. He was such a kid back then.
Thanks Ed@@jmb8989
im just now starting to watch TPB in january 2022 in oklahoma city....saw Rush 20 times starting in 1980 and have been hearing about TPB for a while and seeing bubbles on the big screen at Rush concerts but never realized it was on netflix....anyway im 5 episodes in and loving it
Lifeson is STILL the most underrated guitarist. Love how Neil is flat out ferocious and completely in the zone. Geddy, well he is always gonna be the bassist of all bassists.
Alex is a f’n beast.... as a drummer myself I’ve always felt he was under appreciated.

Lots of magic in this video. Great song. Great guys jamming with Rush. The guys n the band are having fun.

when I typed "bubbles plays closer to the heart" I was only expecting to get the scene in the show where he plays a piece of it. I didn't expect to get a whole song.
Haha same thing here 7 years later!❤❤
Best live version ... hands down !

This is simply a Masterpiece!? Wow, I mean, incredible job on "Bubbles" part, he really has some decent talent on rhythm guitar. RIP Neil. You are performing with all the GOAT and they are smiling.

He was also in a band called sandbox, check out curious. Great track and Canadian band.
What’s this about Bubbles playing for Arizona Coyotes?
Alec Giroux the goaltender in Arizona, for a time, was named Mike Smith. Even had a pic of Bubbles on his helmet!

BUBBLES AND RUSH. WHAT AN AWESOME COMBO. RIP NEAL I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING RUSH FOR 43 YEARS. THERE A BIG PART OF MY MUSICAL LIFE. GLAD I GOT TO SEE THEM IN 2013 BEFORE WE LOST NEAL.
Geddy , Alex, Bubbles, Peart what a pleasure to see 😊!!!!!
Three and a half minutes of Smile!!!
All the years I heard Rush and never really liked them, then I see Bubbles play with Alex on the show and suddenly I was a fan. Really good stuff.
Geddy! Alex! Neil! Bubbles! Ed (from Barenaked Ladies)! what's not to like?
Wow this is a priceless video .OUTSTANDING GENTLEMEN .❤👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋❤
Man....I've got a lump in my throat listening to these bros.....its epic!....im a 25 year old combat vet.....I love RUSH
Not only are the members of Rush the three GREATEST MUSICIANS ever to be in the same band, but better still they're really good guy's. That's a nice thing to be able to say about your favorite band!! :)
Nah Bradley Eric and bud 😬
Imagine being so talented as a band that you just go into a studio to record a little shabang for fan service and satire and you fucking make a masterpiece. Who could do this? Rush. Rush does this. Or did. RIP to Peart aka “The Professor”. The man who literally reinvented the way people not only look at the drums but how drummers and other musicians look at other instruments. Rush: what a fkn concept!
I don't think i've ever seen Alex play a tele! This was awesome!
This is one of my favourite Rush songs off the brilliant ' Farewell to Kings' album.
Oh my frickin God! I love you BUbs. And the holy trinity togather. Dreams i never knew fulfilled
This is awesome!!! Listen to Geddys voice, so crisp!
Might be the most badass thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on

Mike Smith had to have a blast with this, congrats bubs.

This sounds so good with the two deeper voices singing harmony with Geddy, really awesome!

Woody81 LOOKS LIKE WE GOTTA SHIT STORM TROOPER
Woody81 lol
