Exactly right. In addition to the mind-boggling fact that Tom Brady owns 34 post-season & Superbowl records (Manning is 2nd with a "whopping" 5 records, to put things into a sobering perspective), I've long said that when it comes to combining both gaudy regular-/post-season statistics AND all-around winning (e.g. 6 SB wins, Divisional & AFC Championships, overall winning %), no other QB is within light years of Brady on both fronts. It's frankly laughable now.

I'm a Broncos fan, so obviously I wasn't a fan of Brady when he was going against Peyton Manning. That being said, I rooted for him in Superbowl 49 against the Seacocks because I wanted revenge for my team. When he was in Superbowl 51, I rooted for him again because I hate the Falcons, and he really won me over with that comeback. Then he went on to reach 2 more Superbowls and win his 6th title in the most recent one as well as the league MVP in the 2017-2018 season when he was 40 years old! He's doing all this stuff at the twilight of his career without any first tier weapons, and all these talking sports heads wanted to say he was washed up and overrated. I don't understand how anyone can doubt him anymore. I can't even imagine another Quarterback winning a superbowl or a league MVP at 40 + years old. If Brady had an AB or another top tier deep threat, he'd literally be unstoppable right now. He only had Randy Moss for a few years. Imagine if he had a Randy Moss right now.

+Mountain Fox Appreciate your OBJECTIVITY. In my many experiences with Brady/Pats haters, what the VAST majority invoke is the "cheater!" label--specifically, Deflategate. And I can tell you that 100% of the time, said haters always brought up something that simply wasn't true insofar as Deflategate was concerned. And then when I called them out on their "facts" regarding Deflategate, almost all of them denied and/or doubled-down on their BS lol. That's when I realized it was/is plain old JEALOUSY/ENVY that was/is behind it.
I'm a rabid Brady and Pats fan, but I'm also OBJECTIVE to call it as the way it is/was. For examples, when Brady and the Pats lost to the Broncos in the playoffs a few years back, it was because Denver had an OUTSTANDING defense. Von Miller & Co. were simply fucking BEASTS. Period. Look at the Pats' 18-1 season in 2007. Was it freakishly unbelievable that David Tyree made an "OMG!" helmet catch against Rodney Harrison in the Pats/Giants SB? Absolutely! 99 times out of 100 he probably doesn't make that catch. But, that catch also wasn't the reason the Giants beat the Pats in the SB; New York's pass rush was RELENTLESS ALL GAME, and their defense was the difference. Period. While Brady was outstanding and threw for over 500 passing yds in the SB against the Eagles, the Pats' D also couldn't stop Foles and the Eagles, and Philly made more plays (including the crucial strip-fumble of Brady near the end of the game) and deserved to win. Period.
Whether a fan is pro or against Brady/Pats (or any other player/team), gotta be able to be OBJECTIVE and tip one's hat when the occasion calls for it.

And winning high number of playoff games with obismal passer rating while other QB with similar passer ratings lose far more games in playoffs. He's always had high end talent around him and most his yards are after reception. The Brady circle jerk will fall apart soon. You all need to be cleansed.

      1. Bill Belichick is 68-76 (47.2%) in the regular season as a head coach without Tom Brady and 219-64 (77.4%) with Tom Brady
      2. Bill Belichick is 1-1 (50.0%) in the playoffs as a head coach without Tom Brady and is 30-11(73.2%) in the playoffs with Tom Brady
      3. Bernie Kosar, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Matt Cassell, Jimmy Garroppolo, and Cam Newton have a COMBINED 11 Pro Bowl selections, 16 playoff appearances, 6 conference championship game appearances, and 3 Super Bowl appearances with 8 different head coaches in their careers. Those same 6 quarterbacks have made a TOTAL of 0 Pro Bowls, 1 playoff appearance, and 0 conference championship game appearances with Belichick as their head coach
      4. Belichick has 8 full seasons as a head coach without Brady under his belt. In those 8 seasons without Brady, he has failed to make the playoffs 7 times with 6 losing seasons
      5. Belichick was fired from the Cleveland Browns prior to the 1996 NFL season. The Browns were then promptly relocated to Baltimore where they won a Super Bowl in the 2000 season
      6. Belichick was hired as the Browns head coach prior to the 1991 NFL season. The Browns played in the AFC Championship game in 1986, 1987, and 1989
      7. Belichick is 32-32 (50.0%) as head coach of the Patriots without Tom Brady. He saw an IMMEDIATE 6 win increase and Super Bowl win as soon as Brady became starter in 2001 and saw an IMMEDIATE 5 win dropoff and playoff miss when Brady missed an entire season in 2008. Then he saw another IMMEDIATE 5 win dropoff once Tom Brady left for the Buccaneers in 2020
      8. The 2008 Patriots scored 179 fewer points (11.2 PPG) than their 2007 counterparts and Matt Cassell threw for 1,113 fewer yards, 29 fewer touchdowns, 4 more interceptions, and had a 27.8 decrease in passer rating from Tom Brady in 2007 with the only subtractions from the team being Asante Samuel and Tom Brady. The 2008 Patriots also had the 5th easiest SOS and were 2-4 against playoff teams while still missing the playoffs. The 2007 Patriots had the 8th hardest SOS while being 6-0 against playoff teams in the regular season
      9. Drew Bledsoe made the Pro Bowl with 3 different head coaches, but couldn't with Belichick. Drew Bledsoe also threw for 3,691 yards in 18 games with Belichick, but the moment he goes to Buffalo, he throws for 4,354 yards while posting a better record (being a win away from making the playoffs) and making the Pro Bowl
      10. Pete Carroll took the Patriots under Drew Bledsoe to the playoffs twice while Belichick could not do it in his season with Bledsoe. In his 3 seasons as the Patriots head coach, Pete Carroll went 27-21 with 2 playoff appearances and 0 losing seasons
      11. In his 6 years as a head coach before 2001, Bill Belichick had never had a top 10 ranked scoring offense. The Patriots offense ranked 25th in 2000 with Drew Bledsoe at quarterback. In 2001, Tom Brady's first year as a starter, the Patriots ranked 6th in scoring offense
      12. Drew Bledsoe has had 10 career 40+ point games in his career, with 3 different teams and 3 different head coaches. His highest point total under Bill Belichick was 30 points which was achieved just once in 18 games
      13. Drew Bledsoe's worst career record of 5-11 was achieved with Bill Belichick as head coach. Bledsoe has produced a better record with every other head coach and team he's ever played for, including the Buffalo Bills
      14. Vinny Testaverde's best season under Bill Belichick was in 1995 when he threw for 2,887 yards and 17 touchdowns. The very next season Bill Belichick was fired and Testaverde threw for 4,177 yards and 33 touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl under interim head coach Ted Marchibroda. Testaverde now sits at #15 all time in passing yards and #16 all time in passing touchdowns. He has 7 seasons that are better than his best season with Belichick
      15. The Patriots offensive coordinator Charlie Weis from 2000-2004, produced 3 top 10 scoring offenses in 4 seasons with Brady as his starting quarterback. Without Brady, he has only produced 1 top 10 scoring offense in 5 seasons
      16. Josh McDaniels who was the Patriots offensive coordinator from 2006-2008, and then from 2012-2021, has had a top 10 scoring offense every single year Brady has been his starting quarterback. McDaniels left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010. In those two seasons, his scoring offense ranked 20th and 19th respectively. McDaniels was then fired and became the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams in 2011 where his scoring offense ranked 32nd among teams
      17. Bill O'Brien became the Patriots offensive coordinator in 2011 where he had the #3 scoring offense in the league. He then went on to be the head coach of the Houston Texans, where, in 6 seasons with the team, he never produced 1 top 10 scoring offense, even with players like Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins
      18. Before Tom Brady, Bill Belichick had never coached a team with either 4,000 passing yards or 30 passing touchdowns in a season. In fact, he didn't do it when Tom Brady missed an entire season in 2008 or in 2020 after Brady left via free agent one year following Tom Brady throwing for over 4,000 yards at 42 years old
      19. Bill Belichick fully expected to be fired in the 2001 season before the Drew Bledsoe injury. According to Charlie Weis, Belichick called him on the phone and told him to put his house up for sale because he didn't think they were going to last too much longer. According to a Jets coach, in week 2 Belichick and Charlie Weis were talking to them before the game and were saying "We're going to get fired". The Jets coach then detailed how Belichick told them how they didn't want Bledsoe, but he was a big locker room presence
      20. Bill Belichick had 3 quarterbacks to start under him that were drafted 1st overall in their respective drafts. Bill Belichick has gone 16-15 with Vinny Testaverde (drafted 1st overall in 1987 NFL draft), 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe (drafted 1st overall in 1993 NFL draft), and 7-8 with Cam Newton (drafted 1st overall in 2011 NFL draft) for a COMBINED record of 28 -36 (43.8%) with 1st overall draft picks at quarterback
      21. Bill Belichick has gone 14-21 (40.0%) with quarterbacks that have gone on to make the Super Bowl with another head coach. Bill Belichick has gone 5-13 with Drew Bledsoe who made the Super Bowl in 1996 with Bill Parcels as head coach, 2-0 with Jimmy Garroppolo who made the Super Bowl in 2019 with Kyle Shanahan as head coach, and 7-8 with Cam Newton, who made the Super Bowl in 2015 with Ron Rivera as head coach.
      22. In 2016, when Tom Brady missed 4 games due to suspension, the Patriots went 3-1 with Jimmy Garroppolo and then Jacoby Brissett at quarterbacks. In those 4 games, the Patriots played 2 games against teams who finished the season with losing records, 3 games at home, and they were shut out 16-0 to a Buffalo Bills team at home whom Brady put up 41 points against 4 weeks later on the road. The best team the Patriots played in those 4 games were the Houston Texans, who had 16 touchdowns to 17 interceptions on the season and had the same number of fumbles lost as rushing touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett threw a grand total of 0 touchdown passes in 10 quarters played during that 4 game stretch
      23. Art Modell is 305-253-8 (54.7%), with 18 playoff appearances, 8 conference championship game appearances, a NFL championship (1964), and a Super Bowl championship (2000) as a NFL owner in games Bill Belichick was not his head coach. In games Bill Belichick was his head coach, Art Modell is 36-44 (45.0%) with 1 playoff appearance and 0 conference championship game appearances
      24. Robert Kraft was 54-42 (56.3%), with 4 playoff appearances, 1 conference championship game appearance, and 1 Super Bowl appearance in 6 seasons as a NFL owner from 1994-1999 (bought the team in 1994) without Bill Belichick as his head coach. Robert Kraft is 32-32 (50.0%) with 0 playoff appearances in 3 FULL seasons with a Bradyless Bill Belichick as his head coach

I wouldn’t say it’s his IQ. I think it’s Tom Brady himself that leads the team. Brady doesn’t carry himself like a GOAT. He carries himself like he did when he was drafted 199. Tom Brady plays like he has something to prove. And I think that’s what makes him a winner. People can look to him and follow cause they know he’s going somewhere.

But I still think he has the best game IQ of anyone playing at his level. The fact that he gets his teammates to believe in him and in each other is the cherry on the cake and what allows him to get his guys to keep him safe in the pocket for long enough to make those godly plays. Hes the GOAT. I can respect that hes humble, but I hope we get to see him let loose a bit now that hes out from under Bill's iron thumb. I lost interest in sports over the years and only recently read up on TB. His life story is an inspiration to youngsters. I was 2nd string in HS, made only only one play and got injured and my team only won one game the whole season so I quit the following year! TB didn't play as a softmore either, the San Mateo Padres lost most of the games too yet TB went out as a junior and played as a starter when the first string QB didn't go out for that season!!! Amazing resolve. All the SB rings,Supermodel wife, millions he made, team affiliation don't matter to me. It's his Model for success that matters. It's difficult to pin point. His focus on the goal, training, Heath, diet, mental state, and his high values, that's what I admire. If I left anything out, my bad and not intentional.

AFC EAST is strong, what Tom Brady has done in the division is incredible. My point I want to make is this. In Superbowl vs Rams V1 Tom had the lead, defense gave it up, Tom saved it late. Vs Panthers same. Vs Eagles V1 was straight forward played from in front. Giants V1 and V2 Tom left the field with a 4thQ lead in both, he sat there and watch the defense give them both away. He did his part. Vs Seahawks they trailed by 10 and he made the amazing late comeback to gain the lead against an insane defense, then sat and watched the defense get walked 79 yards from 20 only for Malcolm Butler to finally have the defense do their part and protect Toms work. Malcolm Butler didn't give Tom shit. Vs Falcons was brutal as the Falcons played great in the first half, again Patriots defense gave up bulk points before they played well late, the Falcons got to Tom in the first half pick 6, sacks and all. Some would say he played poor in the first half. But they don't give the trophy at halftime. After halftime he did goat things to win. Vs Eagles V2 He took the lead in the 4thQ yet again. The defense had chances all night to be great and failed so bad, 33 points 500 yards and lost. He more then did his part, but was out their late trying to win the game for like the 5th time. Full credit to the Eagles great strip sack to win their 1st Superbowl. Tom still drove the ball with no time and left and got it into the endzone on a hail mary to Gronk but didn't go. That is incredible. Vs Rams V2 Full goat here. In the most tight arm wrestle ever in Superbowl, the game called for a hero to drive the ball and be great, Tom answered the call. He had a 4th Q lead in 8 Superbowls!!!! And OT in other. Ain't that something. He put his team in a position to win in all 9 Superbowls.

  • @9753Lukas
    @9753Lukas 5 лет назад +2

I think the 2001 Patriots are the actual most interesting case-study of the Patriots.
Brady was still very raw/underdeveloped compared to what he would later become.
He was absolutely still clutch, but I would not call 2001 Brady an elite QB by any stretch of the imagination. And by this I mean he didn't quite have the ability to take over a game like he would a few years later.
Yet the 2001 Patriots still won the SB.
The Raiders game was a lot of heart, a bit of luck, and an amazing kicking performance by Adam Vinatieri.
The AFC Championship game against the Steelers was actually won with Drew Bledsoe playing most of it as Brady suffered an ankle injury in the first half. The game was won off of the defense forcing multiple turnovers and Troy Brown going full god mode on special teams. (2 TD's). Gotta give that game to an amazing coaching job.
I think when people talk about all time great defensive performances in the Super Bowl you'll hear the 85 Bears, 2013 Seahawks and 2015 Broncos come up. Maybe even the Patriots performance in this past Super Bowl. I think one that is worth putting in the conversation is the way the Patriots defense completely shut down the GSOT offense for 3 and a half quarters. I still to this day think that was the best offense of all time because none of the other great offenses could shred you both through the air and on the ground like that one could. The defensive gameplan put together by Belichick for that game is maybe one of the greatest (if not the greatest) of all time. If not for a stupid holding penalty by Willie McGinest on a 4th & goal in the 4th quarter, it wouldn't have even came down to the game winning drive and amazing kick to win it.
The drive to win that game by Brady was amazing and lets not forget about the GOAT kicker, Vinatieri.
What I will say is very few coaches would have had the balls to try what the Patriots did after the Rams tied it. The Patriots had just over a minute left, zero timeouts and were backed inside their own 20. Most coaches today wouldn't attempt to go for it there, let alone in 2001.
I think 2001 is enough to prove that you didn't need elite QB play to win the SB. 2001 Brady was an incredible teammate, presence and clutch QB. But he was hardly playing at an elite level that year.

WOW!! There is really nothing that anyone can say regarding Brady being the GOAT!! I've shared this w/all the brady haters and haven't heard from them since lMFAO, it comes to a point where as Forrest Gump said stupid is as stupid does, life is short and I don't have to justify myself with the stupid things people are always gonna say about the GOAT, after watching the video, if ur a true fan of the game, regardless who u root for, you just have to accept what u see in front of you!! years from now people will wish they could have seen what he's been able to do! ENJOY & PEACE TO ALL

Undefeated in four Super Bowl appearances, Montana completed 83 of 122 passes for 1,142 yards and 11 touchdowns with no interceptions, earning him a Super Bowl record passer rating of 127.8. The first player ever to win three Super Bowl MVP awards.

I wonder what you take is now that TB12 won a SB at Tampa Bay, without ole Billy boy. I think TB made Bill, not the other way around, and certainly they didnt make each other.

I think Father Time is gonna end up asking Brady for a truce and maybe just call it a draw.

Very good video. Here is another point. The rules were tougher on qbs back then. Before 1978, Def backs could bump receivers multiple times all the way down the field until ball is in the air. Rule was changed in 1978 to allow DBs only one bump inside of 5 yards from LOS.
Before 1977, off linemen had to block with their forearms, could not extend their arms & use hands to push def linemen away. In 1977 OL was allowed to use open hands without grabbing, & that gave the qb more time.
But the QBs for both teams played under the same rules. Pre 1978, QBs put up less passing yardage, TD passes, yards per attempt, etc. But a win is a win. All QBs in the pre 1978 era who won didcso with no advantage over their opponent.
If TB played before 1978, his numbers would be lower, but he still wins rings.
The TB haters have no case at all.

I’m a ravens fan and I absolutely hate the patriots with a passion . But when it comes to the GOAT without a shadow of a doubt I tip my hat off to Brady . His high level of play for 20 years its undeniable and you gotta show your respect to greatness . Will never see anyone like him .

I love Brady but he has a long way to go to top Bill Russell. Russ is the greatest winner in American sports history. Two NCAA titles, Olympic gold medal and 11 NBA championships in 13 years. No one close!

adi racquetball Russell played in an era with 8 team, no salary cap and his competition was mainly 5ft11 White guys in tiny shorts. Hardly compares with the competition that Brady faces today in the modern NFL

That is the absolute dumbest response I have ever seen. If you did any research you would see know that the average height of the NBA teams in the 60s was about a 1/4 inch lower than todays . Not much of a difference. In reality in the current NBA there are really only 6 teams max that really have a chance to win the title. In fact with 9 teams there were better players on the court than today. So playing against Wilt, Oscar, Jerry, Elgin, Willis Reed, Hal Greer, Nate Thurmond, Bob Pettitt, Paul Arizin....every night you played against quality players. Russel won all the time. The two years he lost he was battling injuries. There is no one close.

adi racquetball Go find ONE person who even considers Russell a top 5 NBA player of all time. Literally no one has ever said Russell is even the greatest Basketball player ever let alone team sport. Brady is unanimously the NFL GOAT - Russell can’t compete with that when he wasn’t even greater than Jordan or Kareem in his own sport

    • @adiracquetball
      @adiracquetball 5 лет назад

Foolishness. He is clearly the greatest winner ever in any pro sport. He won at every level. He was an athletic freak. People tend to ignore defensive genius. Russell made his teammates better. That is what greatness is. Jordan was a ball hog who didn't win anything until he got Scottie running shotgun. He tried to take over games and didn't make his teammates better until later in his career. Everyone ignores the older players. Russell was the most dominant force of a generation that influenced Magic and Larry. Who did they name the playoff MVP trophy after......hmmm I wonder why?

The 80s-early 90s Saints had a whole bunch of top 5-10 defenses but no playoff wins. Whats your point exactly.
No mystical advantage in having a top 5-10 defense over a top 15. Especially in todays nfl where an elite defense gives up a bunch of yards and points still.
