Top video. Top game :)
Great video Kyle. The game has come a long way over the last 14 years.
Excellent recap of how far this game has come! Kings of War truly is the best community out there!
P.S. glad to see you making videos again my friend.
amazing content !! the french community is growing, hope it will continu
Probably my favourite thing about the game is that its smooth rules really let the hobby and social aspects of events shine. The emphasis on clarity and consensus keeps arguments to a minimum so you can focus on meeting new people and enjoying their beautiful creations!
I chose my career literally based on the game, it's community and the company behind it.
Great and accurate overview of KOW, well done!
Great video! I cannot agree more about Kings of War being a streamlined, multi layered game which is easy to learn, hard to master. Its easy to look past the simple fact its only in its 3rd edition on its continued journey of being the best rank and flank gaming system and community in the world.
KOW is truly the best tabletop fantasy game that I've played and it's allowed me and my local community to have large scale mass battles in half the time as the games are fast, clean and most importantly my head doesn't hurt after multiple games. You can get a 2000pt game done easily within 2 hours.
The other cool aspect is the hobby - KOW allows a lot of focus on hobby with multibasing and dioramas which are awesome and lends itself to having more players who are hobby focused.
Brilliant video, well set out and put together, I've dipped in and out of KOW over the last couple of years but always enjoy it when I do play 👍 have subbed, looking forward to seeing this series continue
From a 12 page pamphlet in 2010 to all this beauty in 2024. They went a long way in 14 years.
Great game. Super fun to play and multi-basing makes armies look amazing. I love it! 👍
with twilight kin coming out I've been itching to get into the game. Bought myself two ambush sets, one for the kin one for eod now and hope to get some friends into it as well. Now's the time, after all.
whilst all the images focus on the tournament scene this is also a great club/garage game, being able to get a game played to conclusion in an evening due to the straight forwards rules is a real plus.
Wow these armies were magnificent! Would make me look at the game if I weren’t already two and a half armies into it 😅
Just picked up a 2 player starter box and some Ambush sets to play with my kids. Cannot wait!
fantastic work, good video, king of wars is a great game that must be taken into account, greetings and like😊
Yea the current rulebook has all the army lists! And the latest Clash of Kings supplement will feature the updates from the rulebook. 1 main book and 1 supplement is all you need to have all the rules and all 28 army lists of the game!
Cracking video sir, well done 👏👏👍
Love the relationship between Mantic and the community, I wish more people would try anything other than GW, they do not deserve the unflinching loyalty they somehow have.😊
Started my first army this year. Hoping to have it finished and try a wargaming tournament for the first time.
Great vid. Can't find the Discord link in the description - can anyone link me please?
Played my first game of it the other day. It's so simple and easy to play. It doesn't take all day either like warhammer always does.
Edition 3.5 as i like it to call it (the red book) is probably the best rule book i have ever used for wargaming.
Old world is a fun nostalgia trip but this is the better game for me by a large margin.
Rank and file. The linguistic evolution to 'flank' is understandable as players who don't know miniature gaming enter but it sounds really odd in a video about the history of this sort of game.
The only issue is that cok '24 is not worth buying unless you play twilight kin

Great game
Let's hope KoW continues to grow
Kings of War is such an amazing game I really hope The Old World crashes and burns leading to those buyers looking for options and finding Kings of War.
I know I'm salty. I don't care.
Amazing video
The only problem I can see is the quality of the miniatures.
My gaming friends flat out refused the game because of it.
And now old world is out. Unfortunately Warhammer is back baby.
Ugh, I've been wanting to play this since near the middle of second edition. Stores hardly carry it and everytime I try to mention it to players all I get is "oh you mean the bad warhammer fantasy game?". Finding players to game with is so hard to do with practically any game not produced by GW thoigh. I hope everyone else is having a better time with the KoW experience then I have had.
This is exactly why I wanted to make these videos. There's a real resistance to players playing and stores carrying product. I hope that as I release the videos in this series, you'll get some more assets to share with people that can help get them to consider giving it a try.
Here in Berlin (Germany) we‘ve had similar struggles. For years it was just 3 of us. Recently we‘ve had some success in attracting new players by playing in 10mm, thus massively reducing the barrier to entry. We currently have 8 players who play semi-regularly. Don‘t give up!
Yes this is a Great game. The game engine concept is very good and different. But the darkside is that you need to buy new updated Clash of Kings update books (think Codex's) each year. The lists in the "New" rulebook I just bought a year ago are already out of date, unless I use the Clash of Kings 2024 update. Without the free Mantic army builder that makes updated lists, my friends and I would be done with the game. Great game. But its too bad the company is turning into GW.
Hmm I think more like day and night different.
-Mantic is a free update once a year to keep up interest, growth and do some minor balancing tweaks, with rules developed by expert commmunity design team. Yes you can purchase a single (one, 1, uno), Clash of Kings update book a year IF you want all the new lore, but you can instead just use the free app as you say, which is what many of my local group do. This is day.
-GW is very expensive codex power creep and wild imbalances every couple of months, and an incompetent design team in charge. This is night.
It's only one book per year, and you actually don't even need to buy it, because the Companion App updates automatically.
While I don't play the game (wish I could find players) but having point update are huge. I play Team Yankee and Flames of War and those games don't get point updates which is a huuuuge balancing problem. Oh boy I'm glad the most battle tested combat vehicle in history (the USA M1A1 Abrams) is 100% worthless in my games!
So while you may "need" to get a book points update once a year. Its better then GWs every 6 months and new edition every 4 years, or the opposite of never getting a points update and looking at your cool models and going "wow I wish I could use those but they get removed from the table as fast as I put them on it".
