Thanks for sharing the footage from the Frankfurt Christmas Market, it brought back so many memories for me. I was stationed, three years, in Aschaffenburg in the late 80's and fondly remember the Christmas Market there and in Frankfurt.
We went to Frankfurt Christmas market too last weekend. Couldn't believe the amount of food. We had a lovely time. I was kind of surprised. It was very busy.
The year we went to Germany for the Christmas Markets, we ate bratwurst and hard rolls just about everywhere we went (Munich, Karlsruhe,, Rothenburg, Freiburg, and Werttemberg). My favorite cookies are Pfeffernusse with the white hard glaze and the gingerbread. Also ate a lot of the sugared hazelnuts and almonds. I make sugared pecans and almonds every Christmas. Love those.
I lived in Wüerzburg back in the early to mid 90's and the Christmas Markets are by far one of the things I definitely miss the most from there. I always loved the sights, the sounds, and especially the foods.
One year I had the good fortune to have a business trip to Germany just before Christmas. I was in Köln, and my hotel was just across the river from the city center, so I decided to visit the Christmas Market for my last dinner, as it would be more fun (and less expensive for the company) than eating in the hotel or in a restaurant. I remember I had a bratwurst roll with mustard, some glühwein, and sauerkraut sautéed on a griddle and mixed with sour cream and caraway seeds. All wonderful, and the sauerkraut preparation is now my standard technique for serving it. Most of my ancestors were from Germany or from the German-speaking areas of Schweiz, and I grew up on many old German dishes, so I enjoy this channel a lot.
@@cooking-the-world And thank you! I agree the best way to spend a cold December evening is wandering among the food tents of the Christmas market picking out supper one piece at a time!
Wow, there are a lot of interesting Christmas food options in the Christmas market. I think it would be really fun to try the food. It was fun to watching. Thanks.👍👍
I was lucky enough to live in Germany in the 90's and visited this Christmas market. This made me miss it so much. Living in Germany was probably the best time of my life!
Now I'm curious as to where in Germany you lived, as I was in Wüerzburg at around the same time. And I wholeheartedly agree, it was the best time there with all the markets, fests and wonderful foods.
Brings back many good memories from time stationed in Lahr Schwarzwald back in early 80s (Canadian Army). Loved my 4 years there and very much enjoyed German food … and the beer! Christmas time almost seemed magical. Thank-you for your channel.
I couldn't stop smiling at everything my family has decided that we will be watching your Christmas videos for Christmas this year and it's a real blessing to see how much you share with us it warms my heart and fills our home with joy thank you so much may you have a truly great holiday and may your family be blessed with the lord and your faith in each other grow forever stronger merry Christmas from your biggest fans in west coast Oregon USA!
Everything looked so good! It's definitely on my bucket list to visit Germany, especially Germany's Christmas market! Christmas is my favorite time of year and the way Germany celebrates Christmas is so beautiful! I hope to find myself visiting Germany one day, it's where my great grandparents came from in the early 1900's! Thank you for sharing all those yummy foods, looks like you both had fun!
Oh thanks for watching! I think this is good plan! I love Christmas time here in Germany. Christmas Market is one of many reasons. Also restaurants offer so many delicious dishes, like duck and goose. So wonderful:) thanks for watching!
Thank you for this beautiful video. It reminded me of the Stuttgart Christmas market so much, made me very happy to see. The crowds were so amazing and the food so good. I only can wish to get back there someday. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers
Oh those two are wonderful! I went to University in Trier so I have a nice memories with the Trier one:) but Nürnberg is also very nice. I personally like also the one with Stuttgart, mostly because of the food. Thanks for watching Justin!
I miss the German Christmas markets so much. I hope we’ll be able to travel to them next year. The Cologne and Berlin markets were amazing 2 years ago just prior to the pandemic. Thank you for sharing this video.

German tourists are blown away by our food in my country Albania. If some of our dishes were to be adopted and cooked in Germany, German people would love them.
We made some of these foods at home in the US (Chicago) this weekend, thanks to watching your videos from last year. very tasty with some Gluhwein! Its interesting to see Reeses at the German market - we dont usually eat these until Christmas morning when we pull them out of our stockings. But they are also a staple treat at Halloween.
Your Christmas market looks like it would be so much fun . I wish we had that tradition here. I'm going to have to make potato pancakes sometime. Have a great week !
Hi Marta, one of the staple foods of every Christmas market for me and many of my friends are the fried buttom mushrooms (small Champignon) with a garlic sauce. Also, since you´re living in the area anyway try out the Christmas markets in Michelstadt and Erbach/Odw 50km south of you when the the pandemic is at least partly under control again or even over. The one in Erbach was canceld a few days ago due to Covid and I guess it may happen to the one in Michelstadt too if the current number of incidences stay that high as they are now. Both are pretty cozy (the one in Michelstadt is totally run over on the weekends though).
Yes I agree, very populated, but Michelstadt has had an exceptionally good Weihnachtsmarkt. Between about 1985 and 1998, I went there almost every year.
Thanks for sharing this video, it was lots of fun. And the Christmas Markets in Germany are so beautiful. Only problem was, I got so hungry watching it!
Ahhh the Frankfurter Weihnachtsmarkt, so many memories. Especially that one winter it snowed heavily. Glad to see it's back open. BTW, my favorite Raclette is with walnussbrot and topped with eingemachtes preiselbeeren. Not sure which markt I would buy it at. So long ago.
good to see you again! those potato pancakes look really good! i'd like to try them. i'm not a big carb guy - but i do make exceptions from time to time, lol!
I usually find decent if not really good potato pancakes locally where I live. Very delicious. One thing I had learned over the years and potato pancakes was the first example, was never to trust the tastes of tourists from Illinois. Every time I had seen a crowd around a restaurant and it was of Illinois tourists, they would claim the food to be great. I have been disappointed. What I see in your video looks very good. Even the kidneys.
You forgot the most delicious item at any German Xmas Market anywhere - (Schwenkerpfanne) Champignons mit Knoblauchsauce (Grilled Button Mushrooms with garlic sauce), well they're not always grilled on a swinging frypan... but taste is awesome! My favourite!
