  • Travel up north to the beautiful Baker Lake, Nunavut where we not only visited, but had the opportunity to work in the community with youth and families.

Looked so much different in summer time.... Er.. early autumn. Went there last year in April. The lake was still frozen, covered by 2 meters of ICE!!!!
Paula is very friendly and nice Innuit lady. I'm sure she served you all well.

Are the roads like that due to the climate ?

The roads are like this because roads are very difficult to pave in this type of terrain. I believe this is because a thin layer of permsfrost at the surface freezes and unfreezes. Therefore, you cannot pave the road without destroying the permafrost beneath it, which can be quite costly. Obviously I am not an expert on this topic since I am just a young teenager.

No, we have gravel roads, cement roads will just crack and break, so we use gravel. That is my home town

So in isolated communities like these, does inbreeding become an issue? Serious question not being rude

This could have been so interesting because I used to live there. Too bad the infernal music totally drowned out what you were saying making it annoying and stressful trying to watch this. This happens in dozens of RUclips videos with people trying to turn their videos into works of art, instead of informative interesting fact based videos.

Lol it was perfectly fine it’s her video she can do what she wants and she did a good job I caught everything she said. Maybe it’s just your attention span.

@@jacobreyes4573 Hey Jacob, sorry if I hurt somebodies feelings with my snarky comments. I lived in Baker lake during the 1960s and still have friends there, so naturally I was interested in the video. That fact alone will tell you that I'm a pretty old guy, When you get to that age most people have developed hearing impairment, very common is having trouble making out what people are saying if there is any background noise, so it has nothing to do with attention span in my case, though I'm sure that is also very common in old folks.
Anyway my son, it's coming to you sooner that you think, when it does you'll be saying "oh now I know what that old guy was talking about" In the meantime just be glad you still have all your faculties fully intact.
Anyway that lassie seems very charming and is completely free to do whatever she wants, I don't have to watch it that's for sure.
I'm just glad she's up there helping the people. Just sayin man, no hard feelings.
