    Of course there are a few things more that need to be discussed. For example a better weapon modding. What else would like you like to see being discussed?

      No mention of the PVE mode. Think it's nice for extraction shooter/mil sim novices (like me) to dip our toes and adjust to how these games play compared to less in depth shooters.

      @@Thunderking01personally, I think it’s a misuse of resources to have a mode that is strictly PvE. The best way to learn any shooter is to be exposed to every possible threat.
      It’d be better for the developers to put resources into other aspects of the game instead of investing in something that only serves a small percentage of players

      ​@@STSC1300 I'm betting you played a lot of Tarkov and many other FPS games. There are people that have never played Tarkov or know that kind of hardcore action and will need time to even figure out the interface and get used to buttons and healing etc. Troops aren't trained by throwing them into an insurgency. They go through boot camp etc to get them used to gear and weapons and survival.
      Load a map without players on it so you can shoot at some AI and test guns before jumping in and losing gear. Just make it so you don't lose anything you bring in and you can't take anything back out. Doing this would take almost 0 resources because it's exactly what happens for a normal match, just without other players.

      there is a video of another streamer killing people in one of the bases so the spawns are not bulletproof it is really easy to invade them. 762 Ak bullets in starting zone seem to be inconsistent it takes literally a mag to kill AI sometimes i have no idea if its glitch or what but yea

    Those initial stutters are caused by the game compiling shaders. It will usually happen once per every new thing seen.
    EDIT: Hunt style sound cues would help a lot in a jungle fight. Jungle has a lot of creatures and noises in it so they can definitely play with that.

    Hot take but I think as long as you have the items needed to heal you should be able to designate a key as the "Heal" key and the game just uses what you need in that moment. No fuss no messing around in sub menus and less micro in a game where you have to pack mags after every gunfight already.

    8:20 I definitely prefer the Tarkov style magazine packing, although maybe a bit faster. Doesn't need to be quite as slow as in Tarkov, but still slow enough that you have to make decision on how much room do you want to use for your magazines in your rig. The magazine packing has to be slow enough that it's a good hinderence in middle of a firefight but fast enough that it's not too tedious to pack magazines out of combat.
    In my opinion if you don't have a magazine packing mechanic in the game you almost completely remove the need to bring more magazines, not to mention how imbalanced drum magazines become if you can just fill 60 round magazine instantly.

    I agree about the economy. Also wish there were more loot containers scattered around and with rarer loot. Once you get high enough level vendors you can just buy a better loadout than you’d normally be able to find.

    I have a slight feeling that the team didn't quite plan this release as much as saw the opportunity in the Tarkov fiasko. The game definitely still needs a lot of polish, but it looks absolutely promising.

      The game already planned for release since they announced this last year with it being finalized last january. Tarkov's shenanigan just happens to coincide with the game's EARLY ACCESS release LMAO

    you can shoot through glass, even the two panes in a row like you had there, but each time you do there is some deviation to the bullets trajectory, and since you shot through it right as it was leaving the barrel basically, you got two deviations from where you were aiming right upon exiting the barrel, probably making you miss by a lot. Shooting enemies through glass that they are close to works just fine, though it probably shouldn't affect trajectory anywhere near as much as it does.

    Great video Mike!! Super informative and IMO, incredibly fair. The game does have great features and unique design elements, but not unexpectedly, has some things that can be improved with patches. Unfortunately, a few things that you point out could be major game flow issues. As someone that has only played Tarkov a couple times, like how you explain what you mean when you contrast it to Tarkov. IMO, you feedback/review videos are always an unbiased fair and easily digested for players of all experience levels and this is why I always check to see if you made a review on something first before going anywhere else. I know these reviews take a lot of time to collect footage, edit, and produce. Thank you for investing the time to make them the high quality that they are.

    Maybe for landing at the LZ they have a FOB that you land into so at least you have cover that you can only leave.
    Also maybe allow people to group up on chopper extracts. (Idk if it already works like that) so multiple squads can leave and go to an LZ if they only want 4 choppers.

    Team killing should hurt your rep with all vendors pretty bad and eventually kick you into a 4th faction where you're friends with nobody and have some black market vendors that have sky high prices for things.

    I think it would be cool if the game triggered a quest to secure the LZ when enemies are there. Or if each faction has to secure an LZ by default.
    Would also be cool if the game had quests to complete patrols or area clears.

    I think the easiest way to combat spawn camping is if the helis had the option to parachute or rapel down, that way you can spawn in any area that isn't too hot to hover.

      I just thought:
      "Satilite heat imaging"
      Give the player the ability to "call in" a satilite image feed for an area of his choice (like an LZ or a piece of jungle where the enemy is "not moving".
      Should be on a reasonably long cooldown and not show too big of an area, but might work to combat campers?

    bullets can go trough glass, the game has hyper realistic bullet physics so just like in real life the bullets ricochets in random directions upon hitting the glass.

    My main concern is that the public complained when the Devs sent out streamer keys only. This was an excellent way to start seeing and ironing out bugs, but then the devs caved which resulted in unfair reviews. We all knew from seeing the streamers there were many bugs, and they still complained about them and reviewed negatively instead of just being patient and letting the Devs with streamers help with reporting and fixing.
    Another thing is this isn't Tarkov, it may have elements, but it reminds me way more of DayZ. I do hope they fix TKing but I also hope they give as much focus and love to PvE for those, like me, who already get enough PvP from other games and want something like this to just chill with friends or even solo.

    Depends on the glass you shoot refraction of bullets is in the physics. But some are definitely not working right.

    Games got issues but I'm enjoying this game a lot. The PvE mode is a nice chill environment for whilst I'm at work and just want to explore.
    Re the Team Killing, I believe it's two reports and that player gets kicked from that server, which means they lose everything they had on them too.

    It's wild to me how much Hunt does right that other extraction shooters don't in the name of "being hardcore".

    So the glass issue could be a flag the the game sets on passthrough. It looks like multi layered glass that is causing the problem. It passes through the first glass, gets flagged probably as penetrated cover, then hits the "next cover" but has the penetrated status. already so it just stops. Not defending, just probably what is happening. Try shooting through a open car door. That will probably penetrate.

    For me the game is a breath of fresh air. Yea it needs work but for an early access I think it's pretty good. Especially since most studios don't know ue5 that well yet. Performance and qol and biggest for me would be audio. Audio is trash and needs fixed asap

      The first time I saw someone shoot an NPC in the foot over 10 times to get a kill due to the "blood loss system" only counting direct heart and brain hits as lethal... I decided I'll pass for now.
      No ragdoll, no limb injury system, which for NPCs should be easy. TTK is important.
      Don't want to play a game where I spend minutes loading my ammo only to waste half of it on one guy because I'm not tapping his heart like a maple tree lmao

    Its 30% there. The devs told us this. If youre playing right now its should be because you believe in the game and want to support it. If youre dunking on it, then you just dont get it. This is pre-alpha and people are reacting and reciewing it like GZW is AAA release ready. Touch grass folks.

    little addition, you are not immune to damage in your base, actually enemies can raid your base and then spawn camp you....even with the adjusted AI that guard your Base after the playtests it is still possible and also pretty easy to do if you have a group of 4+ people attacking

    Personally I think the decision to only give coordinates for the first quests was a good idea. It lets the player know that you can get coordinates from the map. Which then incentivizes communication between players to trade info on where quest locations are. Most quests give you a general idea where it is by giving POIs and then it’s fun having to search for it or asking others where it was and getting coordinates.

      The only issue is that sometimes there are no people at the POI and then it gets annoying. Otherwise I agree :)

    I like these early impressions vids, an in-depth discussion is more helpful for deciding whether to try out a game.
    On one hand it's good to know what to keep an eye on in the hardcore shooter genre, on the other hand my game time is too limited for undercooked games, especially when Hunt is so good lol.
    Part of me hopes CryTek just releases a Crysis multiplayer that is a sci-fi reskin of Hunt.

    I think I another issue with pvp. Is that in my first pvp experience, the guy I killed just respawned, told a bunch of people on his team he was killed. And they all took choppers to where I was. After I died. I did the same thing. And it was almost endless respawning and killing over and over again. I feel like they need to address how many times you can take a chopper to the same location. Other than that I think the game is great. Just needs some performance and pvp issues fixed.

    I think both ways of reloading mags are okay. It depends on the game for me. If it's a more 'casual' game like GZW with it's main focus being PvE I kind of like the way they did it.

    The biggest problem I have with the chopper mechanic is that heading out is fine, but heading back to base could just as easily be a loading screen, there is little to no value added by taking a chopper ride back to base.
    I really don't like that I can't run up to the vendors and interact with them in the world. They don't exist in the real world, they are just UI elements in a menu. I'm not saying I don't like the menu version, but I would like the option to run up to them and talk to them in the same way I can load my hideout in first-person view and interact with my Workbench, Generator, Medstation, and Firing Range in EFT.
    For that matter, give us a personal quarters system that we can upgrade over time. My favorite thing in Tarkov is upgrading the hideout with the stuff I can find, let me do that here as well.
    As for the economy, I feel like the vendors are horrifically ripping me off when I sell stuff to them, while charging me an arm, a leg, my soul, and my firstborn child if I want to buy anything. Why does Gunny buy a base AKM for $144? A properly kitted M4 will run me anywhere between $1k to $3k or more, depending on my scope options. They seriously need to add a "valuables" category that is just there to act as a source of income, stuff like gold/silver watches, gold/silver coins, rings, necklaces, statues, etc.
    A really minor UI complaint is that pressing Esc will completely close the entire menu, not just the inspect window, and there is no hotkey available to immediately use an item or immediately drop an item. Allowing us to rebind the direct Inventory (I) direct player health (U) and big map (hold M) hotkeys would be greatly appreciated as well.
    Another UI complaint is that some things are really unclear about whether they are "good if they go up" vs "good if they go down". For example, you want "recoil control" to be a positive number, but you want "reload speed" to be a negative number. Adding Blue/Red colors to numbers on the stats lines of equipment to indicate an upgrade/downgrade over current stats would be amazing.

    Most hot areas have other lz relatively close. YBL for example. I always use delta walk in especially if i die once there

    im really enjoying the game. Arena breakout looks good as well. very curious about this but I enjoy this Gray Zone Warfare... haven't had the experience of the window shooting - maybe it could explain why i didn't kill someone through the car though and didn't pay attention enough due having multiple contacts and bleeding.

    Coming from the Arma milsim area and I find the game completely unmotivating in terms of tasks. The missions is the same repetetive sludge we got in Tarkov but at least there you got a game around that. You got faction PvP here but no incentive to actually do that, yeah you can shoot people and that can be fun and maybe they have a gun you like but you can't take over territory or do anything for your faction so the entire gameplay loop boils dow nto arma 3 level PvE where occasionally someone will shoot you from a bush. This game needs faction based objectives and a reason to actually go out there and do stuff.
    Also how does this game somehow play and look worse than Arma Reforger but runs horrible and excpects you to have a 4080. Reforger also has much better forest design imo, bushes are only at the edges of forrest because that's where they get light so while a force is hidden from outside the forest, entering the forest lets you very easily spot enemies, in Gray Zone it just looks like someone waved the foliage brush around a bit.

      @@ninochaosdrache3189 the PvE sucks tho the enemy just stands around in the open and people without armor tank multiple headshots. Play SPTarkov with SAIN or Stalker Gamma or even Arma Reforger as barebones as it still is.

    I'm playing with a 3080ti and the first thing i did was turn all the graphics settings to minimum but still at 4k and the game runs fine and barely looks any different.

    Okay, there is work to do, but man, it looks awesome, those little bird flights are closer to reality than ever...
    I got an eye on it.
    Its american tradition to land in hot zones, so dont disappoint the pilot with any clever tactics^^
    I think Hunt:Showdown was one of the games grow out early access the smoothest, lets see how that "interactive tropic thunder" 🙂 will do.
    Bush Campers should have to fear some tactical dogs, there even holstered to operators theese days. Sniff, Bark, Call back and nuke the bushes.

    If someone on your team kills you AND loots you, the game should ask if you want to report them. You might want a squad mate to grab your stuff so having it optional is nice.

    Btw could you test the Joint Operation server? The AI felt pretty buffed up there which is at least for me a fun killer if they are too strong.

    The helicopter element is the main thing killing the game for me, especiall exfil. If you only have time for a quick session, you can't extract from the higher-tier POI's with any kind of consistency. Sometimes you can call a heli straight off, sometimes you are playing "Call Transport" tag with your other faction-mates for 20-30 minutes, and it isn't fun... In PVP you still have to deal with being domed you the moment you get off of or onto a chopper. I gave up on PvP after being murdered immediately by a teammate straight off the chopper the second time. TK'rs get kicked from the server after 2 reports, but can just relog into the next server, rinse and repeat or keep the TK's to once-per-server.
    When doing infil, many players just call for their own private 1-man chopper, don't communicate, and bork up transportation for others. Really needs queuing and to give more information on the map about the choppers FULL flight path.
    Honestly prefer the way EFT or Incursion Red River handle infil/exfil, simply because it removes time-wasting elements.

      "Time wasting elements" like the 6-7m of loading screen for every raid in tarkov 🤣 and another 2m to load back out. Several times I've been flying outta base or back to base in gzw and so many times people have communicated, asked where it's going, etc.
      Haven't been tk'd once. Don't know what game you're playing.

    Havent played it but comparing to other fps games and addressing "camping", lacking a prone stance makes it more difficulty for someone to vanish into foilage/terrain and terrorize teams or just "waste time" by making you believe he is still active when they ran off and have no intention of coming back. I know its a "realistic" take on modern military shooter but i dont think you can keep the setting (which needs thick jungle areas) and also "fix" that those areas (which from the map tend to be most of the play area?) are going to be static camp fests.

    I feel every extraction shooter on the market should take notes from Hunts sound design. Been playing Contractors Showdown in VR recently and I'm finding it unplayable because I can't use sound to detect which side my enemy is coming from consistently. Hunt has ruined all other death match shooters for me.

    I prefer Tarkov style for mags. While loading them up is a lot of downtime, you still have to consider your loadout and it makes you think if you want to hunker down and load up after a gunfight or loot and leave as quickly as possible. I'm sure there's a middle ground somewhere

    Thanks for the Video, was curious when your feedback will drop - because im really, really intrested in this game and wanted to wait till i hear some feedback, because of the whole performance problems.
    The Problem with Tarkov imo - the learning curve is to steep. I really like to play Hunt, because its easier to get into and has this fun PVP, but i also would like to have a easy to pick up, Modern Day Looter Shooter with Modern Weapons/Attachments and pvevp.
    The biggest fear with GZW i have atm, that they unblanaces stuff , like for example having to strong armor/guns. afaik Tarkov has some late game armor, which makes it unbalanced and people with weaker weapons dont standing a chance.

    I understand where your coming from with the windows I think it also has to do with the type of ammo your using because I had that problem at first to but then as you get much better ammo windows are not a problem anymore at least that’s my take on it

      Not sure if it was a cheater. But logged into a server that had someone killing my faction in spawn. So enemy player with no audible gun shots (maybe he had a suppressor and was far enough away) mowing over everyone in base over and over again. I did end up getting some loot off the NPC guards which was pretty cool.

    radar maybe if some one stay in a 100m radius of lz with out a caled chopper for more then 1,5 2 minites it get pinnged for players heading there . In like every 30 sec or somthing like that,

    Tarkov prioritizes how you heal, how you throw grenades, what mags get reloaded. And if EFT does it, there's no reason why GZW can't. Saying it might be too easy isn't reasonable IMO. Are we saying EFT is too easy?
    I'm fine with the key issue that you have. Just go do something else. Or chill at your LZ for 10 minutes and go back in. AI respawns pretty quickly.

    In my opinion some of the heals take too long and there isn't enough available helicopters. I have sat at an LZ and spammed to call in for MINUTES straight and keep being told that it's not available. The game certainly has a solid foundation, but they definitely need to put in some serious work. Also there's like no loot available currently and it gets boring pretty quick. Overall good video though with a lot of insight.

    The glass inconsistency is not a bug. It is the defining feature of the game. The devs made this game with the core feature being making the ballistics as realistic as possible. This means that bullets will interact with different materials in various unpredictable ways. You have been trained by other games over the years to think that shooting through glass is perfectly fine when it is the opposite of the truth. Glass fucks with bullets really bad. Your bullets might go in the general direction of where you are aiming when shooting through it, or they could deflect in completely different directions. There is no reliable way to tell which will be the outcome, but the solution is simple. Don't shoot through glass unless you have no other choice. If you have to shoot through something, drywall, wood, and very thin metal are your best options. On the opposite end, if you need cover, sand bags, thick metal (Not cars unless it's the engine block!), or concrete are your best choices. Hiding behind boxes, metal fences, or even trees, like other games have trained you to do will get you killed.

      You see him shooting half a mag into glass and it literally stopping the bullets. There is no way that was a chosen design feature, especially since some of the glass breaks and bullets go through while others are like transparent steel. Bullets break glass man. Yes, shooting a single bullet through glass will cause it to go somewhere you didn't aim, but the next bullet is not shooting through the glass anymore because the first one broke it. If the first 1 or 2 bullets didn't hit the target but the next ones did after the glass breaks, I would agree with your chosen design feature argument. Stating that "realistic" ballistics means that normal glass is bullet proof doesn't make any sense.

      @@randyweiss2748 At no point did I state that glass is bulletproof. And most modern glass will not just shatter and fall apart when bullets go through it. Unless you are stacking the rounds perfectly through the holes, it is still going to deflect the rounds and even a few degrees of deflection will cause them to miss the intended target. Try shooting through multiple panes of glass at different angles, like the "half a mag" clip you are talking about, and you have no hope of hitting your target. The devs have a whole demo video dedicated to showing off the in-game ballistics vs different materials. It is the main focus of the game. I find it very hard to believe they fucked up so bad at implementing their core feature that glass is accidentally bulletproof. Mike's complaint is that shooting through glass is inconsistent, but shooting through glass IS inconsistent. It is the whole point. I give Mike the benefit of the doubt from a lifetime of playing games where glass is irrelevant, but in THIS game you should avoid shooting through glass because it can and will make you miss. The problem isn't shooting through glass not working. The problem is shooting through glass and expecting it to work.

      Yep the devs youtube channel has a terminal ballistics demo that shows how bullets can deflect off materials or shoot through but change trajectory depending on the ammo type. If he had used AP rounds in the video he likely would have hit the target through the two panes of glass there

Glass may deflect bullets but it does not persist after and it does not block bullets like is happening in the clip. No one including yourself believes this is how bullets behave when hitting glass so chill with the "Well actually" BS. There is no "realism" at all in Mike's clip.

    Pushing the game out a touch early because of the Tarkov drama could backfire, well it appears that way. It's also a pity of how hard abused Early Access/8 year BETA's have been in the past few years, this has seriously affected gamers perception of pre-release.

      @@PsychoghostGaming you could in theory just farm npcs for mags and guns. I hope when they open up the end game content its just ungodly expensive so you actually need to care about not dying. Also the ai can basically see through brush where as you cant.

    Sadly the game is unplayable right now for me. It isn't even the performance but the "clunkyness" of the game. When I start running, than ADS, run again and ADS quickly the FOV goes nuts. I get like a delayed zoom for a sec and than it switches back with a few minor graphic glitches. And I really don't like that you stop sprinting when using A and D keys, but I guess I could adapt my play-style to that. To me the state of the game feels more like alpha instead of open-beta or even early-access. In my opinion a months work wouldn't have hurt the release at all. I'm not gonna refund and rebuy it later, but I think there will be a lot of refunds and a lot of them won't come back later... :|

    The first time I saw someone shoot an NPC in the foot over 10 times to get a kill due to the "blood loss system" only counting direct heart and brain hits as lethal... I decided I'll pass for now.
    No ragdoll, no limb injury system, which for NPCs should be easy. TTK is important.
    Don't want to play a game where I spend minutes loading my ammo only to waste half of it on one guy because I'm not tapping his heart like a maple tree lmao

    What about the headbobbing? I will never understand how shooters like that overdo that so fucking hard... our eyes/brain compensate for that in real life, that's why putting a gopro to your head and going running doesn't look at ALL how it looks for you while you do the run... these games just forget that and give us these ridicolous bobbing for totally normal movements while, in real life we would not even notice it, because our eyes and brain automatically compensate for it... its idiotic honestly that games are so focused on these way overdone movements... My vision doesn't move like a pendulum when I open a door or run up some stairs guys...
    Here it seems okay in normal movement, but that door opening and some of the stuff? OOOF!

    Chopper LZ camping solution: Highlight enemies within 50m for 20 seconds. Give 20 seconds of immunity to anyone landing.

      While you are "in" the chopper, are you inviciable?
      My first though was "different LZs for each faction. How does the game handle it, if 2 choppers reach the same LZ at the same time (same faction)?

      @@Nugire Yes, you are invincible on the chopper and when two approach the same LZ one of them circles a bit and lands a bit later, this works pretty well and looks nice.

      I don't agree. That's such a gamey solution and dramatically breaks immersion.
      Instead, they should focus on more realistic solutions to solve the problem. Like when calling a ride, the operator tells you the LZ is hot before you get on. They could add a small minigun to the heli. They could add smokes being deployed by the heli when you land. They could add some structures around all the LZ's, to make it harder to snipe people from the jungle. They could add more LZ's, ones that are a little further away from the POI, so you can go in on foot. The heli itself could fire on enemies. Maybe the squad leader can have the option of diverting the path somewhere else before it lands.
      Any one of these options more closely fits what they are trying to do at this point. They don't seem to want UI elements all over the screen.

    I think realistic mag loading times would be better, as it would incentivize the use of a secondary and also the importance of mags. Quick reload mags or huge drum mags would have much more impact. With the current implementation, it'd be hard to justify having more than 2 mags of any kind. If you cant kill whatever you're shooting at in 60 rounds, you should already be dead.
