I think if we didn't see so much from the trailers that the movie would've been a smash. EVIL DEAD could've sold tickets off the name alone. A 10 second tease could've suffice
I get why they did a full trailer but most trailers these days show way too much. I felt like I knew the layout of the film before it even came out. Thank you for watching and commenting!
The hype killed it for me. The reviews of “greatest HORROR experience” had me mentally prepared for an experience of 2013 levels, while this felt like a mix of Ash vs Evil Dead and a pinch of 2013. Our theater kept laughing at everything which sucked the suspense out of it. I was sitting there waiting for the movie to finally kick into high gear and blow the crowd away, but it never did. After the gore started it just kinda cruised at the same level. Still enjoyed it and will be sure to watch it as often as I do the rest of the franchise, I just hope they go harder in the next. Aside from all of that I loved the entire cast, incredible performances all around!
Agree with pretty much everything you said mate, I definitely want a direct sequel with Beth and Kassie and hopefully a cameo (at the very least) from Bruce!
I thought Danny was just a good looking kid who I thought was just gay LOL. I dont really care if characters are gay, bi, trans, straight. If the movie is good and the actors play it well, thats a thumbs up! The thing that is an issue is when the movie "pushes" an agenda and it feels forced, which is a problem. Anyways, nice review. I really enjoyed this Evil Dead movie. However, I think the 2013 version was a better movie and better crafted.
I didn't even realize the actor was trans until people were talking about it online. And I totally agree that I hate it when it feels forced or disingenuous. I appreciate you watching and for commenting. And yes, I like 2013 better too.
Ash is a character that stands out like Michael Myers, Sam and Dean from Supernatural, Jason, and many more. I would love to see Ash get dragged to hell and fight Lucifer or another king of hell. Evil dead 1-Army if darkness are creative, these new evil dead films is all about gore.
Glad you called out the bigotry of the close minded hive mind online. I felt casting a trans person imo was a pro to the film. Overall however I feel its the weakest entry as it just lifts everything from other films. The climax is 2013 and when Beth quote’s Ash towards the end it felt undeserved and out of place. I think as Beth was a guitar tech she could have quoted a cool lyric from a famous metal song as her punchline. Would have been find if she got to use a guitar as a weapon at some point. Its fine just felt it rethreaded Evil Dead 1’s plot and we already had that with 2013.
I enjoyed the film but felt like wanting more.. It was well paced and filmed but the kills weren’t as intense as the 2013 film. A few amazing lines from the deadites and performances but didn’t hit as hard as the 2013 film. The lead deadite has a line to Beth outside the peephole door that made me LOL. Best part of the film for me haha. Like I said, good movie but felt empty at the end and I wanted this to be just amazing. I’ll give it a 7/10
@@GavinLovesHorror thank you, I also felt the blood at times looked CGI and it took away from the brutality of it. Even when.. SPOILER…………………………..Bridgette was on fire, it looked a little CGI. The creature at the end was super cool but it was kept in the shadows a little too much.
Was a very good movie but I also allowed the hype to make my expectations way too high. I also don’t think they did the monster hybrid thing at the end well. The concept was good but if anything it felt like the demons were better off separate. This movie is worth a watch alone just for the mother she was incredible.
Was a cool movie but after the 2013 remake, standards were pretty high. Definitely want anywhere near as disturbing, fun or frightening. Had some cool moments , but something just felt kinda off about it.
So many things wrong besides the best actor being the mother Ellie, the kid and young actors were honestly really bad The Gore looked less real than anything I’ve ever seen, like actually fake looking. I’m with you and could care less about the actors gender/sexuality what have you I was excited from the beginning, it set up stuff well, the cabin scene was fun, then the title screen looked like it was an art Project made in WMM by a middle schooler The effects were cheesy, in a very bad Count Blackula (1972) bad kind of cheesy The kids felt almost nothing like a family, the mom felt so far removed from her kids it felt like a stranger in a mom role, however the character Ellie was still the best actress And the kills were somewhat tame and lame from what I’ve seen and experienced
The film was fantastic. It had all the bullet points on had for it to be woke, but instead it really didn't play on those themes at all. I didn't have a clue about the transgender boy until you've just mentioned it. Just viewed him as weak. The sister had the look and mannerisms of woke but again played the role very well. The possessed mom was incredibly well acted. The Hellraiser remake last year I did know about the lead role being trans and it was a garbage performance and awful film. Evil Dead Rise for me is still film of the year.
What is your favorite kill in the Evil Dead series?

I feel the exact same way. The hype leading into it gave me unrealistic expectations.
My theater was dead silent and when the sister said “come get some” there was audible groans and one guy yelled “AWW COME ON!” 😂
That 2013 sucked ass too
@@ggyugcxzzf Strong disagree. What didn't you like about it?
@@gatorbreath shit acting, shit storyline, shit character motivations, stupid telegraphed jumpscares, shit plot, heavily clichéd agenda driven garbage.

Great franchise but it NEEDS better treatment
A new movie that had the soul of the old ones would be magical
I'm super anti woke but that wasn't woke. Danny's sexually preference wasn't a part of the movie.

Evil dead 1 is the best this movies sucks rise is better then 2013
It was definitely fun but after the 2013 remake
I mean how do you even top that?!
I had no problem with the wood chipper because I thought they use it effectively during the 3rd act the film.
Glad you called out the bigotry of the close minded hive mind online.

Not sure at this time but I will stream again in the near future. You'll be the first to know

Hugely disappointing movie. I was expecting something so much better. They didn't push it enough and stuck to a very much tried and tested formula.
How far did you want them to push it ? Like seriously
My favorite kill was henrietta.
That's a great one! "Swallow this."
It was not even 1% good very disappointing scary movies sick now of days
Yah can't agree more
😂😂😂😂 I've got v1-4!
It's got some good songs on it 😂😂😂
