When Kowaru awoke on the moon, there were many other coffins. I've heard speculation that each of those coffins were a possible universe Kowaru has lived through (and failed) to try to 'save' Shinji.
The only issue I have is that there are not retellings... they are a single story. The "retelling" is really just a repeat of the same history after the last. You can see this in the world itself have remnants of the old world. For example is the first one the water is blue but when "angel rei" disintegrates her blood spills into the ocean. In the second one the water is mostly polluted with a red substance that they are cleaning up. This is the same water you can see at the end of the original with Asuka and Shinji.
There's several retellings of the events in various media, there's a manga version of Kaworu that wasn't originally interested in Shinji until after they hung out more, which is said to be the first loop. Kaworu remembers the loops, with Rebuild being a break from the loops into a true end. The cycle is broken as Shinji fixes the world instead of returning everyone to LCL.
It’s not the same reality - the water IS red just like in the end of eva but that’s because the second impact happend differently - or did u see a giant naked rei corpse anywhere?
@@Cryr213 So you didn't watch the movies then? If it isn't resets and just different reality how did the moon get blood on it in one version of events and the next one still has that same blood on it? End of Evangelion 1:40:00, moon gets blood stained. Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone 1:34:57 You see the blood stain on the moon, where Nagisa wakes up, next other boxes containing copies of him some already opened. He then says "Not the Third again. You never change do you? I look forward to meeting you Shinji Ikari." This shows he likely remembers the past loops.
@@Zeroscifer i know, all very nice call backs the the end of eva film. The blood on the moon in the rebuild comes from one of the 4 adams thrown on the moon during the 2nd impact, this is heavely hinted at. (you see the outline of another adam thrwon about at the very start of rebuild 1.0) The rebuilds are clearly another alternative/parallel timeline than the show. completly different rules, names... besides, why would SOME aspects of end of eva be present but others are not, how and why would the reality start over on the same earth? where is the original eva01 with shinjs mother from end of eva? You could go on and on ....also shini visits the timeline of the show at the end of 3.0+1.0
@@Cryr213 I am not going to try to convince you after this. The movie Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone does NOT show the 2nd impact, Death and Rebirth does though, but that is the TV recap or in Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance it is shown in flash backs and it does show the 4 angels but it isn't on the moon or even show the moon. You are remember incorrect and adding your own context and/or fan theories. These was no blood thrown on the moon EXECPT in the fight I mentioned. Also at the end of 3.0+1.0 there is no visiting the tv timeline, it is the new of the world. This is what I have been trying to tell you, and thank you as it is clearly shown in just this one movie. Unless you want to say right at the end of the movie we change into a different retelling of the movie.. instrumentality happens, the world is then recreated. Each time it happens the world gets recreated and some parts bleed from one to another. It isn't a loop of the same thing every time. It is the new world things happen slightly differently through the choices everyone makes in this new world. Things don't exists because it was not a part of the new world. Also look at the names.. The recaps for the TV Death and Rebirth. The entire seris is heavily inspired by the bible and the Death and ReBirth of Christ. The old world dies with human instrumentality(death) then the world is reborn (rebirth). Honestly just read up on the creator, you will learn about and how he sees the world. That will guide your understanding. I will leave with a quote from the creator himself Hideaki Anno: [”Eva" is a story that repeats. It is a story where the main character witnesses many horrors with his own eyes, but still tries to stand up again. It is a story of will; a story of moving forward, if only just a little. It is a story of fear, where someone who must face indefinite solitude fears reaching out to others, but still wants to try. We hope that you look forward to the 4 new retellings of this story.] First line ”Eva" is a story that repeats. It isn't different reality it is a repeat of the events told a little different each time.
I had assumed that the Mark 9 was made from the salvage/fused remains from unite 00 and angle. I wonder how unite 2 and 8 can operate without a umbilical cable like in the series and two first movies?
*Spoiler* from what i can understand in rebuild is this is a time loop due to Kaworu writing Shinji name in the book of genesis and kept repeating and slight changes like re-living their life but it different every time and which is why shinji for some reason is a bit more passive rather than naïve well that what i understand pls feel free to correct me
This is roughly correct. It's implied that every Eva continuity is one of these iterations. All of the manga, video games, side stories, etc. Someone, somewhere, posits, based on the fact that there is one version of Kaworu who is initially cool and disinterested toward Shinji that that version is actually the first time they meet. Kaworu states that he can't truly die until protons decay. Protons are so ridiculously stable that their half-life might be never. If they do decay, it will take 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (10^31) to 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (10^33) years to for only half of the protons to decay. For scale, the universe is thought to be about 13,800,000,000 (13.8*10^9) years old. If we presume Kaworu derives this power because his own name is in the book of life, then he has kinda cursed Shinji to immortality, and Evangelion can technically not end until there aren't enough protons in the universe to support the story. While Shinji doesn't retain his memory of his past lives, they do seem to leave a mark, leading to the same people being returned to the story. I'm not sure how much of this conjecture is "true" given the creative team behind Eva often make choices in projects without talking to each other (like the mangaka who took the concept of the Mari character and made her a friend of the Ikari's from before Shinji's birth. That was just something they did on impulse. Is Mari actually the same person (making her 42 to 44 years old by the end of Rebuild) or is she, like the other pilots who aren't Shinji, a clone in this continuity? I prefer to think she is the same person from the manga and the photo seen in Rebuild itself. It's a tidy explanation for why Fuyutsuki would help her knowing her goals were at cross purposes with Gendo's. It also makes sense to assume Mari Iscariot is a reference to their shared past or Mari's real name. None of that works if she's just a clone like the Ayanami and Shikinami series. But I digress. Everyone in rebuild is at least slightly different from their NGE counterparts except Kaworu from Gendo actually caring about Shinj and Rei on a real, if deeply buried, level to Asuka being a literal clone created to pilot Unit 2. It's implied all of that is bound to Shinji altering things each time he reboots humanity. What it actually means is probably intentionally undefined. Anno has said he is finished with Eva but Eva isn't necessarily finished. I think the fundamental continuity is being left open for future inspiration, either from the other creators or whoever owns the rights to Eva in the future.
Well sadly due to production issues if I remember correctly and issues overall with Anno San we had a completely different movie that we could have since the teaser is interesting what is shown after 2.22 you’re can not advance but must say to the 3rd film that we got is a good film
Sir I just want to say thank you for making this video ! I’ve been waiting on someone to put out a full length scene of all the Eva’s because it helps explain the tech progress in NGE ! I wanted to make this series but I know hats off to you how long this probably took !
Its not a time loop (noting in these movies suggest this), its a different realty. The water is red from the 2d impact (clearly stated in 3+1) and the blood of the moon comes from the body seele buildy m6 out of. The only individual who experienced multiple realities is Kaworu
@ not a loop like a flat circle, but think of it more like loops on a rollercoaster. yes, different realities, but occurring one after the other. things like the red sea or asukas eye patch ofc have explanations in the new reality but exist as echoes from prior timelines or anchor points. even the title “thrice upon a time” is hinting at this. NGE, EoE, then 3.0 + 1.0.
I think it's the Adams soul, rebuild is different in key ways to the original. Shinji and Kawrou are impact triggers while Gendou used the key thing to transcend humanity. I'm still trying to work out how stuff works in rebuild too, like how Lilith relates to the five Adams and the other angels
9:40 + 9:46 You should have used shots of the mark 9 here. Using these images of a transforming unit 2 will most likely misdirect anyone who hasn't watched this movie, since your choice of words somewhat match what is happening to unit 2 in these shots.
This has to be the most fucked up and confusing mecha/non mecha anime ever!!! I own the the original series box set and have watched all the rebuild movies. To me it's like trying to understand all the major religions and their separate entities of the same thing only different. And trust me I've studdied them all and continue to daily. Gundam is so much more straight forward. So is macross. I guess that's why i love eva so much. It keeps me coming back for more and is never ending on it's surprises and twists. Fkn infinity!!! 😮😊

In 3.33, it was shown that both 2 and 8 units need battery packs.
Its shown in 3.33 that WILLE gives both units portable battery rechargers, wherein they just slot in their wrists and wait a few to fully recharge.
