I’ve always believed that the FAR had evolved so completely that they ascended to a new plane of existence beyond that of needing physical bodies. The Seeds and the life that comes from them were their last creations and served as their eternal stamp on the universe giving us a “Here is a testimony to our existence.” moment.
In my personal opinion, I like think that a part of the reason that the first ancestral race were possibly facing extinction or some form of degration is that they may have hit their genetic/evolutionary threshold, and thus realizing that they could evolve no further, and possibly hit a disastrous dead end for their species in many ways set about creating successor races derived from their genetic code that would be able to adapt to the environments around them in their place, leaving behind a legacy so to speak of genetic successors that would be able to take many different routes of evolution in order to increase the odds of survivability.
my theory is similar to yours, using reverse evolution to follow another path of evolution so that the bottleneck can be broken/Avoided since they may have during their evolution taken steps that limited their growth in future
After over 20 years, I finaly get a wholistic handle of the worldbuilding of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Thanks for that! Interesting fact: "Seele" is the german term for "soul"
Right. I've seen countless explanations about what this series was about and none had every explained the actually beginning clearly. This video is a godsend.
And the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become as one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live for ever” -Genesis 3:22
When thinking about the First Ancestral Race, I think of the Ancestors from Stargate, since they were rumored to be the first humanoid evolution, and mankind descended from them, while the Ancestors themselves ascended to a higher plain akin to godhood/demi-godhood.
If the Ancestral Race is dead, why do they care if their "descendants" attain divinity? Shouldn't be their goal? This makes me suspect that the Ancestral Race isn't dead.
I always just thought that their "divinity" was part of what caused their ultimate death. Hence the desire to ensure their descendants didn't go down the same path.
They are powerful and complex beings. Probably the energy required to reproduce and survive was vast and inevitably led to scarcity in whatever recourse was needed for them.
Nothing scary about the end of earth via building-sized monstrosities called Angels just to fuck with expectations and comfort zones to-do with positive energy sources.. I regress
What is kinda of frustrating as a viewer from memory a lot of this backstory was only hinted at within the TV series and the old movies. Then it was rebuilt where they went a bit deeper from memory. Also Rei 2 (the one that we have for the majority of the TV series) has some emotion nd personality due to her connection with Gendo and later Shinji. Rei 1 we only see in flashback
The most scary thing in evangelion is when humanity take a fruit of knowledge from Lilith and created a weapon to strike its bringer its was supposed to be used for survival of species, damn i love that series love to watch it many times even the remake never tired of it
German Here :) To all those "Zeeeelay" haters... Yes his pronunciation of "Seele" my me wrong, but its still better then using a complete different Name, Like in Dragon Ball where one the Charakters name is Tenshinhan and not TIEN 😂😂😂 Or, to even further, calling Mr. Satan , Hercule, because of some maybe bad influence to children😂😂😂
When I first watched Evangelion, I was so confused, although once I watched it again, I connected the dots, it is such a deep and great anime that's due for some justice.
It only took about 25 years but I'm glad this anime is finally getting the reconciliation it deserves it's a beautiful story and I remember watching it almost 20 years ago.
It's strange at how everything suddenly made sense just by having someone explain the creation lore in this universe. I've watched many Evangelion explanations, but all of them focussed too much on the wrong things and skimmed over these key features.
It's always worth remembering that almost all of the Abrahamic references and religious overtones are almost entirely because they sound cool and weird, Anno has been very clear on this.
I can see that because Lilith in the bible is the mother of all Demon. This series makes Lilith feel like an empathetic figure which could create a door into the occult which is typically a pipeline to becoming antagonistic toward the Abrahamic God.
Ya know this is why you have more than a stick to keep as a back up and the angels should have been given basic intelligence with a basic understanding of there mission. The moons should have been in contact and have been sense where each moon was relative themselves with an instinct to avoid each other.
10:37 i think there is a picture of the construction of Unit 01 where Lilith was cut in half across the waist and regenerates into two blubbery giants joined pelvis to pelvis lying in a cross shaped tank of LCL. I assume this means when they eventually grew enough that they could be separated like conjoined twins, they lobotomised Unit01 and used the entry plug to control its motor functions through the a10 interface
10:25 I mean, is there any evidence that Asuka’s mother was actually in her Eva? I thought it was pretty clear in the anime that she died by suicide, hanging herself and a effigy of Asuka which means there would be no way to get her soul into the Eva. her having a mental breakdown at the end of end of evangelion and saying that the AT field was her mother protecting her I mean, I don’t know. What I do know is that Rei didn’t have a mom to have inside her Eva and if Asuka didn’t also, then that is not most that is Shinji had his mothers soul in unit 1 which occurred during an accident and literally set Gando on the path that he’s on now. I think you have drawn a conslusion that nothing in any of the audiovisual media supports. if it’s not in the audiovisual media, it’s not Canon to the audiovisual media. The manga is its own thing.
It depends on what particular Angel Godzilla would fight. And what version of Godzilla you'll choose N2 bomb can damage weak Angels, even penetrate their AT-field. So, most godzilla versions have chances to win some of Angels
Spoilers for end of evangelion ahead We do know that the entity that was greated in the movie was very similar to the first race, the angelic being that ray became is a true combination of adam and lilith, body and mind. That is all but a copy of their original form and was powerful enough that its existence created a time space rupture. The ruputure that resulted in time looping over and over again to prevent its creation. The final loop being the rebuild series, the one that ended the loop and prevented that being from coming into existence but who knows how many times the loop happend and how many times the world ended before it finally changed enough to prevent it from happening
@Starlight_Offical_44 yeah, some do, many don't, but it's never been as big a problem as people say, as a professional artist myself I know the ai image generators are just tools like any other, blanket rejection of new tech because of fear mongering over non issues like that is something people have always done
I will make it real easy for you all: Just replace the FAR with the word God and there you have it all. And maybe with all the plurals regarding the FAR switched to singulars and we call it a day. *grammatical chaos ensues
also the Roland Emmerich movie MoonFall is a rip-off of Evangelion's origin story with the Earth's moon being an alien spaceship that seeded life on Earth, minus the cool mecha-monster battles, lol.
Moonfall is a boring eva? I can see it. But no one can change my mind that he played Majora's mask for the first time and had to make a movie about a killer moon.
Please do a video of what would’ve happen if Guts axcepted the axe of the gnomes and continued to use it along with the dragon slayer and the berserker armor. You could explain the powers of all of the elemental weapons provided by Flora and the possible powers of the axe. I think Guts could use the axe to alter the landscape raising the ground or create small earthquakes that crack open the ground creating fissures. I think if they decide to introduce the axe in the story again it could be what Guts needs to defeat Grunbeld.
Why are you reading the titles/questions like that?! Is it a joke? It's like you're making fun of it! But I think you just think it sounds cool, but it's actually very off-putting and cringe
Something I've always noticed is how the FAR did everything to ensure, the two seeds of life never met, implying that something too powerful and horrifying would be created. We saw this 2.0, with Shinji merging with Rei to kill Zeruel and save her. TLDR Shinji became a being so powerful that even the FAR, a race that could create dimensions, time-travel, etc., were TERRIFIED of.
No. You are overthinking it. No evidence of anyone being horrified. It's usually that that being would be equal to god, to the FAR. Ever heard of the Bible? There is just the tiniest influence of that book in Evangelion. Génesis, Tower of Babel, etc.
I’ve always believed that the FAR had evolved so completely that they ascended to a new plane of existence beyond that of needing physical bodies. The Seeds and the life that comes from them were their last creations and served as their eternal stamp on the universe giving us a “Here is a testimony to our existence.” moment.
This is the clearest and most concise explanation of this series, and it does not have enough views!

You can watch all of Evangelion 3 times and still not understand this much
Seeing Vegeta's and Nappa's capsule ships reused as Moons made me laugh more then it should've😂
I kept wondering whether Vegeta was Adam or Eve.
Ghost Nappa is now pseudo cannon and I love it!
yeah dog?💀
The capsule ships are distracting man

@@MichaelDeHavenyeah, divinity means you can not only ruin all the planets in the universe but also ruin the antiuniverse as well.
they could end in a infinite loop never ending like this anime
If you wanted to have children wouldn't you want the best for them? Maybe being God-like was just their ideal.
With the ancestral race being so powerful the only thing I could see that was threatening them would’ve been in fighting.
Infertility and limited lifetime.
They are powerful and complex beings. Probably the energy required to reproduce and survive was vast and inevitably led to scarcity in whatever recourse was needed for them.
Evangelion was my childhood... and that's why I'm fucked up. 😆
End of Evangelion truly messed me up.

Please do this for the rebuilds. I feel like there’s a lot in the movies that could use some more explanation.
really appreciate the in dept explanations. but i'm still as confused as heck. lol
Welcome to the NGE fandom

Always wondered the origin of Adam and Lilith. Eva has so much unanswered plots.
Still answered considering if some of the rebuild lore or alternative reality theories are true
Still Answered questions considering if you take in the rebuild lore and alternative reality theories cannon
It seems like, instead of causing the second impact, they maybe could have taken Adam and sent it to Mars or Venus. Problem solved.
Who write the Dead Sea scrolls in NGE? And how did they know the knowledge?
Honestly, Evangelion is a vibe, not great deep thought out lore. I wouldn't worry.
