Oh gosh dear people, I don’t know what to say other than thank you both for being so honest. It’s important that we all know both the ups and downs of vanlife. I’ve followed you for a while now and always admired both the fun and the serious aspects of your vlogs. I’m so so pleased that you are both ok. Folk quite often forget the impact something can have on the other person in the relationship so well done young lady on keeping more than an eye on your John. I've been snowboarding for over 15 years and always wear a helmet. They have saved my life several times. I really hope John is feeling better and there's no long term effects (although it'll be hard to tell 😝). Merry Christmas both and happy birthday John, the cards in the post 😝
This same thing happened to a good friend of mine a few years ago. After about 5 - 6 hours or so, he started to come back around. But on the 3 hour minibus journey back to the airport (it happened literally on the final day) it was genuinely upsetting to see him literally not remember things from minutes previous. Well done Jess, that must have been awful for you. The big man took it in his stride. What a 'memorable' Christmas Day for you both! Thanks for all the brilliajt content and for being two of the most down to earth and lovely people out there. I caught you literally from the first video on the van build and have watched ever since. Guys you made it 2 Norway, most warmly welcome, God Jul and a happy new year. I hope you will have a safe stay and no more accidents. Don't be afraid of visiting first aid, its all paid for costwise and the staff is pretty knowledgeable on the effects of hurting during snow activities. You could probably get some tips on how to fall to avoid hard effects on neck and head. Drive carefully and do consider winter wheels with studs if you travel north of artic circle as ice is always an issue on parking and roads less travelled. The other wheels can be left at what we call wheel hotels for a small fee. Don't feel shy to take initiative to talk to Norwegians, our culture consider it polite not to interfere in others daily life but will always try to help people that are new to Norway and we all speak pretty decent English. The "posh" place you enjoyed is pretty much just the standard for Norway, as we are a high on costs and income but low on class-differences type of country. To park close to structures that stop some exposure to winds is a double benefit, as it allow your van to avoid being rocked in nights with storms or blizzards and it dampens the temperature draw off the sides of your car. Can't think of much else, but if there's anything you need to know about, let me know I'll try to explain. All the best, your channel is bookmarked. ☺👍
John, I am so glad you are feeling better! Yup! Helmets are life savers and or can have the effect of reducing injury. I am a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol and we see head injuries daily! Helmets reduce the chances of serious injuries dramatically. Hugs to you both! Now get back to having a wonderful trip!
Thanks so much for your kindness, is been magical, even with Jons concussion. They has been so much cool machinery out here, even I’m impressed! I would have got help if he had deteriorated in any way or had any other symptoms but figured that the stress of forcing him into care would have been more detrimental than helpful at that point. 💙
That was a scary end to a stunning video, great that Jon's OK HELMENTS My wife 's helmet saved her from a serious head injury when she fell off a hired bike in Portugal she still broke her kneecap though I (74 years of age)) do moderate whitewater kayaking and have just replaced my helmet, you never see kayakers not wearing a helmet. When you capsize on a shallow rocky river you will usually end up banging your head! Philosophy As you said ,do it while you can, you may not go back. If you save up the big adventures for later in lfe you may not have the health to be able to them, the attitude of you 2 is brilliant

Storm Henk is forecast to remain an intense extratropical cyclone as it continues east across the North Sea, reaching southern Scandinavia on Sunday morning. Conditions will deteriorate rapidly as the system grazes further east during the day, spreading heavy snow and intense winds with blizzard conditions into southern Norway, Sweden, the Baltic region, and southern Finland...so find a safe place guys and not too remote..good luck!

Hello John and Jess, What a lovely place I love the snow reminds me of my teenage years in England as we had loads of snow then. But things have changed there now with not much snow. Great that the switch is working when the temperature goes low great idea that. By the way we live in Denmark but it’s Denmark west Australia and it was 44 degrees last week Celsius that is ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️🥴🥴 and that’s Bloody hot. £50 quid for that lovely meal I would say a Bargain and it looked great to. I think with the two wheel drive works better depending of what tyres you use, makes a bid difference. Mate go get your head looked at just in case and a helmet is a must as you found out. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Norway is looking amazing. May I recommend a visit to Nordkapp. It is the Northernmost point of Europe and is in the Artic Circle, with breathtaking views. Like others I can’t wait for the next video, enjoy.

It’s worth keeping an eye on that head though, if you fall on ice or anything, then a fairly minor jolt could trigger a bigger reaction - checking pupil dilation and if it is not equal or any traces of blood or straw coloured fluid in eyes, ears or blood from nose means a hospital visit - no arguments! Keep filming, can’t wait for the next instalment.

Glad John is alright and completely agree, wearing helmet should be mandatory. Many people have died due to Injuries. Look what happened to Michael Schumacher. You guys are living the dream, I always wanted to do snowboarding and have pestered my husband about this. We do have a place where you can learn and do it, using artificial snow but the dream is actually have a winter holiday. Plus, you guys are saving so much money on plane tickets and accommodation. An absolutely superb video! Other than bruised brains and bums everything looks fantastic - Norway is so beautiful, the buffet and the spa look first class and the van, of course! I hate cards to I say to everyone there just thrown in the bin and turned into toilet roll so Iv told my family to just give me a roll of toilet paper with my name on it. Cuts out the middle man and saves me a trip to a 24 hour shop on Xmas day when I forget to buy it myself 😂

I know so many people who've fcked themselves up skiing, broken legs, arms, wrists ect. Last time we went my cousin broke both legs and was airlifted off the mountain and my mate two hours later broke his wrist 😂😂😂
Good to see you doing ok - that kind of stuff is a bit scary. At least when you damage sticky-out bits like arms and legs you can see what's going on. Some kind of CT scan would have been fun to see what he keeps between his ears - cobwebs, bungees, pictures of tractors maybe? I can imagine if he gets a bang on the head in the future his first thought is going to be "is it my birthday?" 😂 You both take care out there, and have a great New Year 👍👍
Great vid again..heres a tip to help with sea sickness..just have a big greasy breakfast, with lots of greasy bacon and sausage, a couple of slippy eggs, and fatty black pudding, with deep fried bread, and covered in ketchup...always helps 😂
I know this is a older video, bit would you guy's not look at doing a splash board for the side of the bed. Just to prevent your bedding from the cooking. Could be portable just for when u do cook Jess.
Yeah we did think about making something like that but after 8 weeks on the road with it we never got it on the covers once so ideal, it’s quite a bit further than it looks on camera too 😁👍

Don't be afraid of visiting first aid, its all paid for costwise and the staff is pretty knowledgeable on the effects of hurting during snow activities. You could probably get some tips on how to fall to avoid hard effects on neck and head. Drive carefully and do consider winter wheels with studs if you travel north of artic circle as ice is always an issue on parking and roads less travelled. The other wheels can be left at what we call wheel hotels for a small fee. Don't feel shy to take initiative to talk to Norwegians, our culture consider it polite not to interfere in others daily life but will always try to help people that are new to Norway and we all speak pretty decent English. The "posh" place you enjoyed is pretty much just the standard for Norway, as we are a high on costs and income but low on class-differences type of country. To park close to structures that stop some exposure to winds is a double benefit, as it allow your van to avoid being rocked in nights with storms or blizzards and it dampens the temperature draw off the sides of your car. Can't think of much else, but if there's anything you need to know about, let me know I'll try to explain. All the best, your channel is bookmarked. ☺👍
John, I am so glad you are feeling better! Yup! Helmets are life savers and or can have the effect of reducing injury. I am a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol and we see head injuries daily! Helmets reduce the chances of serious injuries dramatically. Hugs to you both! Now get back to having a wonderful trip!

My wife 's helmet saved her from a serious head injury when she fell off a hired bike in Portugal she still broke her kneecap though
I (74 years of age)) do moderate whitewater kayaking and have just replaced my helmet, you never see kayakers not wearing a helmet. When you capsize on a shallow rocky river you will usually end up banging your head!
Philosophy
As you said ,do it while you can, you may not go back. If you save up the big adventures for later in lfe you may not have the health to be able to them, the attitude of you 2 is brilliant

just to let you know there is a big storm coming to southern norway on the 31st..we in the uk are getting it today... Storm Henk is forecast to remain an intense extratropical cyclone as it continues east across the North Sea, reaching southern Scandinavia on Sunday morning.
Conditions will deteriorate rapidly as the system grazes further east during the day, spreading heavy snow and intense winds with blizzard conditions into southern Norway, Sweden, the Baltic region, and southern Finland...so find a safe place guys and not too remote..good luck!

It’s worth keeping an eye on that head though, if you fall on ice or anything, then a fairly minor jolt could trigger a bigger reaction - checking pupil dilation and if it is not equal or any traces of blood or straw coloured fluid in eyes, ears or blood from nose means a hospital visit - no arguments! Keep filming, can’t wait for the next instalment.

Glad John is alright and completely agree, wearing helmet should be mandatory. Many people have died due to Injuries. Look what happened to Michael Schumacher. You guys are living the dream, I always wanted to do snowboarding and have pestered my husband about this. We do have a place where you can learn and do it, using artificial snow but the dream is actually have a winter holiday. Plus, you guys are saving so much money on plane tickets and accommodation. Thank goodness you are recovering and doing more importantly improving. As a 30 plus year skier and instructor with kids that raced I always advocate helmet wearing they definitely save lives.

Try skiing, a lot easier to learn as it is more natural. Glad John is ok. Norway is beautiful. Always wear a helmet is the right rule.

Congratulations, all your planning for this trip seem to have paid off. When you said that the buffet cost only 50 pounds each I couldn't believe it...Norway and cheap meals😮 Hope the rest of your travels are as good, especially when the temperature really drops .
