    Ooh, I love these! My wife and I go out for Mexican food a LOT and every time we go we get an order of these and some queso dip for the tortilla chips. Good to dip the chips in the queso dip and then put a chunk of the chiles toreados on top of the cheesy chip. Goes great with a large draft Dos XX Amber. 🌮🍻👍

    Awesome! I go to a little taco shop and the have them quartered and cooked at room temperature in a bowl next to the salsas, pickled onions, cilantro, diced onion, and lemons! They are like having fries with a burger! Delicious:)

    these peppers are also extremely easy to grow in a home garden or even a container........one good size healthy plant will produce an AMAZING amount of fruit. Great hot summer vegetable to grow.....it loves the hot weather.

    This is my favorite 'chili head' channel.
    I used to throw three halved j's in the pan and incorporate them in my fabulous low carb/high fiber tortilla which I'd make pliable by warming directly over the gas flame.., with arugula, Greek yogurt, veg chx tenders, or falafel, and Tapatio aaand some cheese crumble of sorts... Stuffed to the gills... Wrapped that baby up in wax paper and again in foil.. Easy transport to work and, well, suffice it to say, my lunch was a most delicious one.
    I miss my walking and food prep routine. I really miss it a LOT!!
    I love the different flavors in the different pepper varieties. I'll choose a Serrano over a jalapeño as the j's are very unpredictable with their heat. I like it spicier than not.
    Ok, thank you for another delicious video.
    🌶❤️

    When we walk into "our" Mexico restaurant, for 20yrs now, they make these for us without asking every time. No charge, too!
    With salt and lime, made on the flat top....mmmm.
    We just call it grilled jalapeños and onions
    They cut ours unto coins...also, i take in my habs and ghosts that they'll incorporate...dang I'm droolin"

      Most taquerias/taco trucks(if they have them) give them for free if you ask for them, but well when you become a frequent client most Mexican restaurants/food vendors will do stuff like that and we Mexicans love it and appreciate when people from other countries/races start enjoying things like this when they usually aren't known for liking spicy food 😉

    • @JuniorFarquar
      @JuniorFarquar 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Kuinsy I think it because we're friends, not as an homage to our liking of their food and it's "heat"; It costs them nothing and the main guys, Joel and Luis, the owner and I, are all the same age and Joel and I share the same birthday of 9/16...Mex Independence Day!
      Not some cultural exchange; they are legal citizens, Americans, and are quite upset at the state of things, as are the rest of the staff.
      They've had family/friends succumb to the horrors of what used to be the border.
      Egregious actions ( or inactions) yield egregious results.
      Yum yum

    Agree, this works great with any hot pepper. Just depends on your heat tolerance. Long hot peppers, Hungarian hot peppers, Calabrian hot peppers, the sky's the limit.

    This is a flashback of my 1st date with Serrano peppers 30+ years ago. I and my wife were in a Mexican restaurant in the old Shara casino in LV on vacation and the waiter kept walking by with these on several occasions and my interest got the better of me and I stop him on his next trip out with them. He looked around and said take one, no one will tell the difference between 12 or 11. LOVE AT 1ST BITE.

    😂 I eat this all the time whenever we go out to get Mexican food. I love it on fish tacos or by itself as a snack while I wait for my food. I didn’t know they were called chiles toreados 😂 I like it with both Serrano and jalapeño peppers along with white peppers(I’m not sure what it’s called maybe, Hungarian wax pepper).

    I like the taste of the Jalapenos. But they bred the heat out of most and made thicker skinned. So started adding Serrano Chile. Love when I can find hot Jalapenos.

    WARNING!! (for men only) Made a batch last night and this Was like a candy. Put a lid on them after turning the fire out and made everything so tender. The only problem I had after cutting the Jalapeno and Seranos was I had to go to the bathroom - quickly. Washed my hands with soap and water, but it didn't help. I was running around the house for 5 minutes singing "This Man is on FIRE) I hadn't had that feeling for years.. I'll be wearing gloves the next time. :)

    Does the cooking moderate the spicy heat from the peppers? If a raw Jalapeno pepper is a 10... what would it be after being prepared like you suggest? A variety of opinions are welcome.

    • @Kuinsy
      @Kuinsy 2 месяца назад

      Umm not really, if a jalapeño is a 10 on heat this cooking method will push it up a notch in spiciness since "toreados" is a term that pretty much means "making them angrier" (from bull fighting) so if you want to get to know the flavor but without much heat I'd recommend you start with jalapeños that are on a brighter green since those are usually the less spicy(from my experience as a Mexican) but (at least for me) those are the least tastier ones
      Edit: forgot to mention that if you want less heat on them just remove the seeds before doing this

    I can share with you my recipe for marrinated chillies. I make it with long red chillies and jalapenos, but it is made traditionaly with Bulgarian hot peppers - Shipka and Ribki (Shipka are not very tasty in general and are brutally hot although they give them 15-30k Scovilles, Ribka are mild but very tasty peppers, and by mild i mean they can be not hot at all). Do you have a way to find those in US? Hit me up if you are interested.

    Love what you are doing here. Jalapeños in the market suck! Grow your own. Serrano is the new Jalapeño in the supermarket. Those too can be lackluster as well. Moral of the story is grow your own!
