I don't think we should give credit to the men in her life. I doubt she will ever let another man have creative control over her career again. This is the first glimpse of poppy totally free from titanic. This is 100% her and what she's been trying to do for years
I totally agree, my statement was since it is pure metal I just correlated that with ghostemanes music and maybe he atleast hypes her creativity and freedom to do what she wants.
I am a 54 yr old rock guitarist. I have seen artists make a transformations before, but not in such a drastic way as "Poppy" has. This led me to the same conclusion. That she was chained. I believe you are absolutely right, this is the real "Poppy" and it is where she shines.
@@keihan5 another example of being chained is Kesha (Ke$ha) her 2017 album Rainbow is when she sued her manager and producer for sexual assault and lack of creative freedom. They didnt allow her to release music for 5 years and then in 2017 she released Rainbow with full creative control. And its so far from her biggest hits like Tik Tok, Timber, Die Young etc. etc..
Titanic is a known groomer and she fell into the evil hands early in her career. Now she's fucking blasting this. She's such an amazing talented woman.
IM P. SEED I just had to check, well, It says that will be released somewhere in spring 😅 which can be on April or in May, I think may sounds believable, she’ll probably release the official video and another promo single before the album. Just how she did with I Disagree
The fact Poppy performed at the Grammys is nuts to me, I had no idea until I saw this. Would be sweet to see Knocked Loose or a similar band perform next year, but that will never happen. But nonetheless, it's sweet to see, the only other time I can think of something like this happening was Slipknot performing in '08. Glad you're back! First.
@@100PercentTHCfilmsX420X idk their sources, but like, all you have to do is listen to the lyrics "maybe today I throw it all away, let my body eat itself and finally get it's way" it's not hard to figure out
yeah, she and another artist named Mars Argo were abused by Titanic Sinclair. Both have released statements against Sinclair that I recommend you read if you are interested + comfortable in the subject!!
For just over three years for me now,Poppy has been my favorite artist.During those three years I have seen and heard an amazing amount of growth from her in terms of lyrical content and the forms of the music used along with an ever increasing confidence in her ability to perform live music.I am so very proud of her and I know she has a long career ahead of her and sooner than later she will have the Grammy and perhaps more than just one.I do know she has had help along the way and I wish to thank-Cory,Chris and Zack and all the others for helping to make her dreams come true you people rock and Poppy rocks!!! Good reaction and thanks for supporting our fantastic " Internet Girl" she is special.
Nice to see you quick off the mark with this one! This song is so technical- I was worried she might have nowhere to go after her recent successes, but not any more! And she stuck one to the Grammys too! You pointed out the bridge where everything stops seemed to be in a weird place. I am fairly sure she uses the golden section to structure her songs, so everything is divided into thirds, with key things happening at the 2/3rds point. That's how she pulls of the weird structures and tempo changes. The song is three mins, and that bridge happens at exactly the 2min point. It acts as a bit of a palate cleanser before going head-down into the song again. Khaos x4 also uses this trick to slow right down in a fast song, and Blood Money comes close to using it- but this song takes it to the next level. There is another major change one min in, too, and if you time the sections, you will find lots of 20 and 40 second portions. The middle 1min section also has a golden section built into it. She has pulled off the weird time signatures again- to me, the intro works as 7 beats and 5 beats alternating (you can hear the drummer give 5 clear beats before she starts singling). The 7 and 5 feel comes back several times during the song, including the last two bars. The most insane part is when she is singing the "1,2,3" lyric over the atonal oodling and guitar counterpoint- if you can count that bit as a bar of 3, a bar of 4 and one of 5 (repeated), you quickly understand how complicated it all is. That weird insane random stumbling rhythm also comes as 2x bars of 3/4, then a quick 3/8 the first time, then a shorter bar of 7/8 the next time. That 7/8 bar is almost exactly in the middle of the song. Apart from that, it is drifting between 3/4 with a few longer 6/4 bars and 4/4 sections. That's just my view on the beats going on, but it checks out. How the hell they managed to not just hold it together, but romp through it, I don't know. This song seriously checks out to a deep level- there is serious craft going on. And to be honest, I think she is probably more radical than Ghostmane in many ways, though it looks like they are egging each other on to be more creative and technical. We win either way though.
@@KyleKupczyk I also thought it was fine that Body Count won because Ice T is that dude! Besides, Poppy won all on her own with that performance, so I had no problems with the results of the Metal Award.
glad your back, and you came back with POPPY! i liked it a lot. really wish she would have won. hope you'll give AuRoRa a listen also. metal fans love her. thx!!
if you knew her backstory and have Any Empathy in your bones, ...those screams of Hers will bring tears. My money was on Power Trip winning the Grammy because of Riley Gale, their singer’s death. I figured the performance was a sort of compromise/consolation prize. BUT, I was totally wrong-clearly I didn’t realize just how out of touch the Grammy voters were-Body Count won the Grammy in her category.
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Queens metal band right now in the earth. They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal. And they have a lot fans too. The song is "Winds of Transylvania" Hope you check out, and can enjoy it too. Big thanks🙏
Mac OS X won't allow recording of desktop audio, unfortunately. You have to get additional software to basically emulate another sound source. Also, I'm confused how a Windows update could possibly damage your hardware and cause you to need to buy a new computer.
"Eat" was a bit too too much for me because of the screaming... I guess i'll just download the songs that are more chill on her next album. Still a great song though.

First.
I really liked Poppy before this performance, but I love her now.
It’s quite a personal song to her. It’s allegedly about her struggles with an eating disorder.
