Welcome to the neighborhood, for irrigation you can go with subsurface drip irrigation, it will have initial investment but it will go a long long way, it will reduce your day to day activities time. Thanks for choosing our village for your venture...
Thank you so much for the welcome and for the recommendation! We hadn't thought of doing drip irrigation, but will definitely consider it as we figure out our watering systems. You live nearby??
I subscribed and have watched your first two chapters. Fascinating and beautifully done videos. Looking forward to keeping up with you. Stephanie, I had lunch at Gilbert's with your mom today. :)

Sometimes you have to just follow your heart. Exploring and living in other countries (or even just a different place in your own country) is such an enriching experience - whether it's from the US to Nepal or Nepal to the US - and happiness can certainly be found in every place. I've found happiness here in Nepal, but I also love where I came from too! And we would love folks to come out to our farm and will be so happy share our fruit when it's finally ready ☺
@@Sanzly-oe6do Oh wow, you're in New Jersey now?? Very cool! And I'm sure you'll have the chance to come to Nepal someday too. I'll be here, so no rush ;)

Thanks for your comment Dipesh and awesome you are planning to do something similar! Our land is 28 ropanis. Where are you thinking of starting a farm??
Thank you!! Can't wait to continue following the development of your little piece of paradise in Norway, and very much looking forward to your someday visit here 😊
Awesome you're planning to start a farm! What type of farm are you thinking? Land is unfortunately not the cheapest in and around KTM valley. For our land, which is outside Panauti in Kavre district, it was a little under 10 lakh per ropani. Kathmandu Valley is usually even more expensive that that (sometimes significantly), which is why the hunt for land can be a bit of a stressful, arduous process. You usually have to search for some time to find a piece of land that fits your criteria and isn't a ridiculous price or doesn't involve. It's possible though!
@@StephThorntonNEPAL well it’s just in the planning stage, but we’re thinking environmental/farming tourism? My friend and I (from Belarus I’m American) both have experience traveling and living in Nepal ( during the first kings reign) sounds a bit expensive for land? But, it took you two years to find the right piece of land. If we have anything it’s time… my wife is Korean so kind of an international group effort! We’re going to have to get boots on the ground and do some research? Sounds like there’s already a group of foreign farmers there?
We are thinking in the long term adding a small school for street children, since traveling to Nepal and India I’ve always had this in the back of my mind. First thing is first… finding your video/lifestyle has inspired us and sparked a flame to begin…

hi .just back from Boudha .if you look at the 2 messages ,you first used big letters for your address and later small letters. see you maybe next year ,when you are back ,but it might be to late for grape cuttings and ground apples ,this year, for your farm . one comment on your construction plans: building in rammed earth is great ,but have you researched building in round forms, avoiding corners ? we have earthquake country here and round buildings are far more stable ,if well done . unfortunately most are stuck on expensive and less stable square building designs .you will save money ,if you build forms yourself ,that can be re -used by yourself and others .@@StephThorntonNEPAL
I just wrote the capital letters to make the address clear, email will go through either way - with big or small letters. Maybe we will be able to get the grape cuttings the following year if we miss this one. We had not considered building in round forms, although I have seen some example of this around Nepal. They built our rammed earth house with earthquake safety in mind, and it has a deep foundation and steel framing. You can see a bit more of the details of construction in some of my subsequent videos. We do plan to build small guesthouses on our land in the future, and maybe then we can try using round forms. Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks so much for your message and so cool to know there’s so many people out there interested and working in the same field! Where is your Pasu Palan Farm located?
Hi! That's awesome that you are interested in coming to live in Nepal. Have you been to Nepal before? It is possible to stay in Nepal, although not always the easiest to get a visa. For a work visa, the company/organization/agency has to be able to provide a work visa (which not every company can). And it has been recommended that you try to secure a job before you come to Nepal. There is also an option to get study visa. I don't know a ton about this, but I know there are several places in Kathmandu where you can just take a course that meets several times a week, and get a student visa that way. Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!
