Hey Alan I was waiting for this, good one! I wanted to highlight an error, the strain damage from powers is applied only if they are activated successfully, while in the video it seems to me that you applied it even for failure. It's not exactly clear from the rules on page 61 but is stated clearly on page 103. Eagerly looking for the next battles!
Cool! I’ve always been more of a fantasy-medieval fan myself, but Stargrave has really brought out the Star Wars/Star Trek fan in me and I’m really enjoying Stargrave right now.
Thanks! I was rather impressed myself with how he turned out and became my favorite figure (and character) as the campaign went on. In case you were wondering, he has Falcon’s body from a Marvel set that came out around the time of the video, his Mohawk is from a Berserker stand-alone minifigure pack, his trench coat is from a generic cape pack I bought on Amazon, and I found his face at a local pick-a-brick store that has a bunch of random heads and parts. And a few episodes in, the figure gets a slight change (that I won’t spoil) which I think fits really well with his character and makes him even cooler.
50:00 Create Robot is also an After Game power. Good way to replace a lost soldier from the last battle for free, although it is restricted by the usual crew limits so you won't always be able to use it productively.
@@bricksblocksgaming8017 It's super easy to miss. It's on Page 19 under "Choosing Powers." "Once this is done, you may decrease the activation number for two different powers by 1 each, regardless of whether or not these powers are core powers."
@@philhelm1318 wow, thanks for pointing that out! I’ve already started filming for my 2nd battle, so I’ll probably “award” these bonuses to the Captains during the wrap-up to that battle.
I seem to recall saying something previously about splitting the party, i.e. DON'T :p But I'd say the problem was more that the Crash Crew had an incredibly hot die! (how suitable that it was flaming red)
@@bricksblocksgaming8017 This game's a little less punishing about splitting up, though. The reason it hurts so badly in other XXXGrave games is the way supporting figures tend to decide melee fights. Stargrave's much more shooting oriented with almost every figure having a ranged attack, so melee is relatively less decisive. Still important to position carefully, but grenades will make you regret not spreading out real quick.
It's a very good idea to play with lego's miniatures and it's is easier to build the map for the scenarios than to create them for my plastic miniatures. Next time, play with another bricks and blocks lover.
Playing with bricks definitely makes it easier to create scenario specific terrain then change it up for the next battle. And if storage is limited, you can easily break down terrain pieces and rebuild them next time. Being ruined buildings makes it that much easier. When this channel started it was Dads Playing Games and I had a cohost that made a couple battle videos with me, but it just didn’t work to get together to game. I play most of my games between 10pm and 2am after my family is in bed (or a weekday I’m off work and the kids are at school) - it’s great for keeping my hobby time from interfering with family time… but not so great for including other people in the process. 😂

Thanks Chris for pointing out the error! I see what you mean about p61 not being totally clear. I’m glad you’ve been looking forward to the content!
I love the narrative intro and the music! Great job, very immersive.
Thank you! I thought it would be neat to try something by different with the intros. It was fun to make!
Love this with the legos! Awesome stuff.
Thanks! It’s cool to see another content creator commenting on my videos! I enjoyed your Stargrave review videos - your stuff is really informative.
@@bricksblocksgaming8017 Thanks. Looking forward to the stuff you come out with :)
Finally finished the other stuff. Really excited to see stargrave since I tend to like sci fi more than I do fantasy.

The model for Sytem Crash is rather awesome

Hoping to get the Hope Eternal expansion book soon, and this looks super fun!
I haven't actually played through Hope Eternal yet, but the story and scenarios in it look fun.

Good catch on that power! It’s similarities to Frostgrave’s Animal Companion made me assume it was a Before Game Power.
Does this game have permadeath? Are your crew reset after each battle or do they level up like dnd?
Really great batrep, thank you👍👍👍👍
You're welcome and thank you!
It's worth noting that the Captain gains a -1 bonus to the activation value of two different powers of your choice during creation.
Hmm... are you sure? I haven’t seen anything about that.

😂 I thought about you when I mentioned the splitting of the team being their downfall. Yeah, System Crash’s team had some good rolls in the last half.
Never mind that I would probably have done something similar, still fun to point out (and it's always a good excuse when it fails)

@@richmcgee434 good point about the grenades. I don’t think any were thrown/fired in this battle. In the next battle however...
