This is "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent erasure. I loved that song when I was 10, went right over my head. Another example can be "Bon Apetit" by Katy Perry. But really, the examples are almost infinite
“Peaches” by: The Presidents of The United States of America actually isn’t about sex. It is literally just about moving to the country and eating peaches from a can. Many interviews have Chris Ballew stating that none of his songs have hidden meanings behind the lyrics.
Very entertaining! "Jelly rolls"? Now when some oldie tells me how dirty and suggestive the music had become and "it weren't like that in mah day" I can tell them a thing or two!
Can't believe you guys forgot one of the most famous examples of all time: "You men eat your dinner, eat your pork and beans But I eat more chicken than any man ever seen" Back Door Man (Howlin' Wolf later made famous by The Doors)
"But those orgasmic moans hidden in the post chorus are telling a different story, and aren't simply from *food enjoyment*" your delivery of the text elevates this video
I personally don't think Closer has much of a subtle meaning even though I think it's one of the heavier tracks from Trent lyrically, the the problem comes with the common misconception of outsiders claiming that it's just a song about pure lust and sex. Closer obviously straight up hits you with immediately explicit lyrics about sex and virility but what most people don't get is the meaning of the track as a whole (which, in my opinion, is a bit harder to contemplate without the context of The Downward Spiral). Closer just uses sex as a vehicle to amplify the intense feelings of desperation, alienation and general uselessness that the protagonist feels, wanting to feel anything other than dread for once. He wants to feel every little inch of his partner from the very inside, outside and everything in-between because he wants to both have AND be her simply to stop his impotence, which in the big picture of the album, is just one of the many pieces that contribute to the crumbling of the protagonist, the instrumental clearly demonstrates this progression into self-destruction that perpetuates the whole LP. It's not a song about sex, it's a song about someone's integrity disintegrating in front of your very eyes.
Props for bringing Weird Al into this! Not to mention My Bologna, a food-inspired de-sexualization of My Sharona by The Knack, which does not hide it's extreme horniness (and statutory rapeyness).
I really enjoy your content. Your tumbnails remind me of the era where I used to read this music magazine called Blue jeans. I hope you'll get the recognition you deserve!
Highly underrated food innuendo song, "Shake Your Coconuts" by Junior Senior (a highly underrated band, I might add). Also, if you want a complete shameless parody of this, there's Adam Sandler's "Food Innuendo Guy."
Bagarre's Lemonsweet is one song where the message is not about juicy sexual organs, but rather about reveling in the ecstasy of the dancefloor with a little help of a drug we best associate with the sunshine, but for this song, equated to an edible fruit of similar description. - guess they were putting drops of lsd onto the slices of lemon garnish from their drinks in the clubs of 1980s italy.
When he says "Not every artist can be a poet of Trent Reznor proportions", I don't think it's a dig at Nine Inch Nails at all. It takes a poet to pull off a seemingly blatant line like "I wanna fuck you like an animal" in Closer (which isn't a sex song) or the famous "fist fuck" shout in Wish and give that a much more subtle meaning. Trent just turns that concept around as there's still an even more devastating subtext to the not so innocent text. I can't find anything like that in the Lollipop song, but maybe I just didn't pay close attention.
The Archie's tune was my elder sister's favourite when she was a toddler. At that tender age, taken at purely face value. But I wonder what she's thought in the intervening years. Yes, inevitably.
Personally I enjoy “we should have each other for dinner, we should have each other with cream” because it’s innocent enough to be played on the radio, and for my younger self to not understand, yet obviously dirty.
"I'm like a one eyed cat, peeping in the sea food store", check out the original lyrics to "Shake, Rattle & Roll", the title alone leaves no doubt. Fish references a-plenty in early blues and western swing! Spinach could have an association with sexuality as well. Although not directly pertaining to the dirty deed itself, it ís a metaphore to marihuana, which is known as an afrodisiac since the dawn of history. Hence the two go hand in hand in a lot of songs from the Reefer Madness-era and there's a lot of cross references to be made. Also, Maghreb pop music and Rai use a lot of food ambiguity because of the heavy censorship these regimes apply. They do like their pastry!
I was waiting for you to mention Mr. Bungle's "Squeeze me Macoroni ' the whole video, and it never happened. That is the ultimate food porn song... Period!!
I'd be interested to know if there's an actual (non comedy) pop song that was about food but not actually about sex... I did think of Sugar Daddy fun Hedwig and the Angry Inch which sounds like it's using sugar as a metaphor for sex but actually it's using it as a metaphor for consumer goods
wow here i am thinking stupid music is a newer thing. lol i guess it just means things are just getting more dumb over time and i am just noticing :D your sarcasm is on point .
Thank you for this video! What about doing a video about song lyrics about cars and their sexual connotations? "Pull Up To The Bumper" by Grace Jones springs to mind.

Maybe is just me, but I feel like “leaving the meaning to the listener’s interpretation” is a pretty lazy move from artists. I know, I know, art is up for interpretation, but, man... you are supossed to say something. You have a voice. Making your message unclear can devaluate art very quickly. And don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of great songs like Teen Spirit with plain lyrics and virtually no meaning, but at least Cobain admited that he wasn’t even sure about what his song meant and never tried to overlook it. Milkshake means nothing. Is just a poppy metaphor for whatever was trending at the time. Is not deep, just catchy.
Bo Carter, who recorded "Banana In Your Fruit Basket," also did a song called, "Please Warm My Weiner."
And another one called, "Your Biscuits Are Big Enough For Me."
Such an underrated channel
For real.

I love that track after discovering it on Absolute Radio 90's. So infectious! Peaches by The Stranglers though is definitely raunchy.
If the writer says it, it must be true then...
Very entertaining! "Jelly rolls"?
Now when some oldie tells me how dirty and suggestive the music had become and "it weren't like that in mah day" I can tell them a thing or two!
Pour Some Sugar on Me also features the line "You've got the peaches, I've got the cream". Yep.
That's Glam for you
Peak glam.
The oldest songs are hilariously unsubtle, clearly this isn't a new thing lol
That banana song killed me
Omfgggggggggggggg I died

I always noticed the dirty nature of older music that no one said out loud
food porn takes on a whole new meaning.
Honestly listened to Closer like 50 times and still can’t understand the meaning? It’s very subtle

Milkshake and Kelis appreciation? Yas I'm here for this
Milkshake was every girl’s fav song at age 6 and we were clueless
"When is a milkshake not a milkshake?"
When it's a metaphor for oil.
"An ode to the many do's and don't's of banana storage. " Classic Trash Theory.
Props for bringing Weird Al into this! Not to mention My Bologna, a food-inspired de-sexualization of My Sharona by The Knack, which does not hide it's extreme horniness (and statutory rapeyness).
Did someone say KNAAACK?! Oh, sorry. Wrong community
there has been a tiny part of my brain continuously devoted to the Milkshake video since 2003.
All I thought about during this whole video was "Food Innuendo Guy" by Adam Sandler.
I don't know if I'm hungry or turned on...
Absolutely amazing video!!!
Thanx!!!
"Travelling Riverside Blues" by Robert Johnson was recorded in the 30s but not released till the 60s.
I really enjoy your content. Your tumbnails remind me of the era where I used to read this music magazine called Blue jeans. I hope you'll get the recognition you deserve!
4:30 the "Lemon Song" was a cover of "Killing Floor" by Howlin' Wolf. Howling wolf used the lyrics of Robert Johnson. Johnson lifted it from McKay.
Man you missed some Serge Gainsbourg songs
That France Gall's song story is crazy, Serge was a lvl 100 troll

Tutti Frutti the first rock and roll song? Rosetta Tharpe begs to differ.
Maybe the real milkshake was the friends we made along the way.

There's also 'Sweet like Chocolate' by Shanks and Bigfoot and 'Salty Chocolate Balls' by Chef from South Park.
Clicked for the Stranglers. Was not disappointed. Thank you. :)
0:38 interesting you say that, considering Closer also includes the line "I drink the honey inside your hive"...
offended at the exclusion of Tori Amos' "Raspberry Swirl" ,,,
I was waiting for a Jesus & Mary Chain reference that never came...

Fun fact: Wish won a Grammy and Trent joked about it

Kelis has a recipe book and there is a recipe for a milkshake
I'm sure she does....
I think you mean euphonism. Ambiguity means cloaked, hard to discern from one thing or another
I like the way he said FUCKING
the snark in this snack-based video is fucking hilarious
Talk about woman in hip hop and how they express their sexuality freely
You could say please
Beyonce and the milkshake one-hit-wonder are not hip hop. They are trash pop. Disposable like a used tampon. Trash.
I was waiting for you to mention Mr. Bungle's "Squeeze me Macoroni ' the whole video, and it never happened. That is the ultimate food porn song... Period!!
This video raised my blood sugar.
The “other colas are available” was 👌
"sex is an essential part of life, a base level need". Guess I'm dead then
I swear, this whole time I thought peaches by the presidents of the United States was literally about the fruit.
This changes the meaning to the song “Froot” by Marina and the Diamonds now 😂😂
Used to be obsessed with that song! Never got why it was spelt with two O's but I think now I do
Well say " freaky money's " snack pak line is great ...&lick it lollipop by rupaul

King Crimon's Cat Food is a criticism of modern, industrialised food markets and their canned goods.
Sounds like musicians trolling

Great video 👏
Aqua’s “Candyman (Lollipop)”
I was taught "milkshake" was slang for the seductive way the hips of a boluotuous woman move when she walks.
U were taught wrong it's titties
It is about hip movement, but not when walking exactly ;)
The word is ** V O L U P T U O U S **, you pathetic fool.
I was expecting a reference to Froot by Marina
Great, now I'm hungry!
Nice video!
I was under the impression that the Peaches line in partition was just that it's a common stage name for exotic dancers
Thank you for this video! What about doing a video about song lyrics about cars and their sexual connotations? "Pull Up To The Bumper" by Grace Jones springs to mind.
I would literally kill for you to explain why Beyonce's crazy in love is one of the most influential pop songs of the 2000's.
Yay! A new video!
6:14 - 6:25 is he serious? I laughed
‘Little stick of Blackpool rock’ - Max Bygraves should have got a mention.
Now this is epic.👌👌👌
You forgot to mention the mid 90’s single “Peach” by Prince.
You missed Candy Shop by 50 Cent
I'm surprised there was no mention of "Sugar Walls" by Sheena Easton.
"My Boy Lollipop" actually started out as "My Girl Lollipop" by Robert Spencer of the Cadillacs in the mid 50's.
Kelis is savagely underrated
Why?? she didnt write it
Not in my house
Yeah right she didn't even write it plus that song is boring put some sugar on me by Def Leppard is a better song than milkshake

Now I know where my nickname came from :0
I 10000% think Beyonce is referencing Peaches the artist in Partition
No mention of Prince (cream/sugar walls)? He could sexualise a park bench... Great channel. 👌
This was fun and a Brit is presenting it. Win, win.
I feel like this video needs an update that explains what the hell is going on in the Watermelon Sugar video.

“eat dat bootie like groceries!” comes to mind🍑🤤🍑....tho a bit less cryptic than previous food lyrics

is the group Peaches featured here the same Peaches who made Dynamit nitroglycerin baby?
Peaches is a singer
Didn't Chuck Berry have a lyric that involved cherry cola? ...or am I just confusing something like "My Ding-a-ling" with someone else's lyrics?
