Selena was an amazing genius who was cut off way too soon before her full potential could be realized. She had a weakness in judgment which was not her fault. She needed real professionals around her instead of hiring 'friends' like Yolanda and putting them in positions for which they had no business being in charge. Fan club president is one thing; but the manager of international operations for a string of boutiques and a line of clothing and perfumes? Her heart was too pure for her own good; she believed everyone was good and this prevented her from exercising unbiased attention in business matters. She was simply too young, too inexperienced, too innocent, too optimistic, and way too successful to have branched out as quickly as she did without third-party professional business experts like CPAs and agents flanking her interests. Simply put, there comes a point where 'family and friends' no longer cut it, and you have to sever those ties in a professional sense when it comes to big business, especially if you're planning on going international with your stores and merchandise like she was. A lesson in life for all of us.
