The outfit you see Taemin wearing for this performance is his look and style he had for his "Want" comeback promotions. So during this time period, whenever he performed "Want" he wore an outfit that was styled similarly and he always had one glove. When Idols promote their new song or album they always have a style that represents that song and/or album and they usually keep that style throughout the whole promotions, so what he is wearing is what you will see him wearing in any performance of "Want" around this same time. You can often tell what time period a video is from by what their outfits and style looks like, because it represents a specific promotional period. And Kpop concert videos are never just a tapping, they are videos of live concert, award show performance or special event performance, etc. It's all live. If you think 1,000 people in the audience felt like a lot, just imagine performing on a regular basis to 55,000 fans who are there to see just you. For example, SHINee regularly holds concerts at the Tokyo Dome in Japan and that concert venue holds 55,000 people. And in order to be allowed to perform at the Tokyo Dome it's pretty much an unwritten rule that you have to be able to fill the place to capacity and sell out. Taemin actually doesn't really have any formal training in any style of dance. Before joining SM, he had never taken a single dance class nor learned to dance from any kind of teacher. He started out by teaching himself dance moves by watching dancers on TV and he was chosen to be an SM trainee with only his natural talent. As a trainee, SM had him focusing on hip-hop and popping and locking because they thought they wanted SHINee to be a hip-hop group. And he didn't even do any type of contemporary dance training until his Japanese solo debut in 2016 with his song "Sayonara Hitori"/"Goodbye" which was introduced and taught to him by the choreographer, who also happens to be the same choreographer who choreographed "Move" and "Want." That's just how talented he is. Dance just comes naturally to him. But that's not to say, he hasn't also put in a ton of hard work to get to this level. There really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out with only self-taught skills, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.
Fun fact since you mentioned this: Shinee fans used to be (still are?) super duper known for always carrying fancy extremely expensive cameras and taking super hq pictures of shinee. They were called cannon goddesses (대포야신) at one time. If you look up that term in naver’s (kind of like Korean google) dictionary one of the definitions is a shinee fan haha
Yes. Besides being well known for using one, shawol is also the 1st fandom that uses fancy extremely expensive camera. Shawols have been enjoying super HQ (or HD?) fan taken pics of shinee since forever hahaha
Yes, SHINee's fans were often used as memes in broadcasts because they carried better equipment than media officials. SHINee's fans are the ancestors of K-pop idol's high-definition photos and fancam culture.
I didn't like to watch live shows until i saw a taemin concert. He's amazing, from the begining to the end, his performance, his crowd control, his charisma, everything. This was just a little taste of it. Him and shinee are definitely artists that truly deserve to be appreciated live.
Taemin is one of the trainees who passed the infamous SM Saturday Open Audition. It's super strict, one of the hardest auditions, and trainees who were picked are called Lee Soo Man's Pick because he's one of the judges in the audition (Lee Soo Man's the founder and former CEO of SM Entertainment). They're also often called the elite trainees because of that. Other idols who passed the same audition: Super Junior Heechul, SNSD Yoona, Red Velvet Seulgi & Yeri, NCT Haechan & Jungwoo, and Aespa Giselle.
"His movement is so fluid" Yes, from what I've seen, he's like that even since predebut. There's one of his audition videos where several kids were grouped, then they had to dance based on the music being played. Others danced as soon as the the music started, but he took a moment like listening to the beat before dancing. His appearance instantly changed from looking shy to super cool. Other kids auditioning with him began to stop dancing and watched him instead. The same effect was also happened in Shinee's Key audition 😂😂
Taemin's actually had none to minimal professional contemporary training. I believe his most official introduction to this genre was with his very first Japanese album title track, *Sayonara Hitori* & no surprise there about who was the choreographer: KOHARU SUGAWARA. Since then however, he's had plenty of exposure to this genre with Flame of Love, Move, Want, SHINee's Good Evening, Criminal, etc. And ofc, all those songs were done by Koharu 😂. But still, no known professional contemporary dance training in his resume as far as I'm aware.
You're talking about his fluidity and you don't want to call him feminine but I get what you mean because it's an important aspect for Taemin. If you look back on SHINee Sherlock era Taemin had long hair and his concept was the image of an androgynous boy. He greatly suffured during this era, he wanted to be seen as a man and not mistaken for a girl. But since he debuted his solo carrier and even more since his title "MOVE" he made a statement that he embraced his androgynous side fully and want people to stop put a gender on dance, that's why you seen male AND female on stage as backup dancers. This is what he said in an interview : "My aim was to find a middle ground, mixing both masculine and feminine movements into the choreography together. My body shape is like that of a dancer’s,” he said. “It’s not too masculine or overly muscular and I wanted to take advantage of that. I thought I could show the soft lines like the dance movements of a ballet dancer by adding subtlety to my choreography. I wanted to break the idea of what male performers are supposed to show, what performances girl groups are supposed to show. I really wanted to break those labels, showing that dance is a form of art."
Taemin does not have any formal dance training at all, let alone contemporary training. That's what makes him so phenomenal. His first foray into trying contemporary dance was thru Sugawara Koharu when she choreographed "Sayonara Hitori" for him, followed by " Flame of Love. " She is also the choreographer for both of these songs.
Well, I'm sure he did have dance training as a trainee and an artist in SM. He was already talented and self-trained when he joined them, but I'm sure they also put lots of effort into developing his skills.
@@helenas7948 I think what Saddlemomma's saying is Taemin doesn't have a training in classical/ballet style. Before meeting Koharu Sugawara he was really into popping and MJ influenced style, but I think this meeting and now friendship between these two really transformed him and made him an even greater dancer.
Thanks for your reaction to Taemin ❤️. He is incredible. he truly deserves all the recognition he has and more 🙌🏻. I love him so much 💕. And also I envy his hips 🤭.
There is that performance of Want with that circling camera on RUclips and there you can see the freestyle intro part of the song even better. And it might be one of my favorite Taemin moments ever because he makes it look like the music possessed him when the beat came in and it's so satisfying. Highly recommend checking that out as well.
Funny you said that while Taemin is alone at stage you don't feel that something is missing, because no matter how hard I tried I can never concentrate on backup dancers anyway 😅 I'm pretty sure they do an increadible job BECAUSE they dance for Taemin and this is the best proof of skills for any backup dancer in kpop, but no matter how many times I saw same video, I could never take my eyes from Taemin's body lines for longer than 3 seconds, he is mesmerising ❤❤❤
I am waiting someone to react for this want performance. Glad u did. I'm start to love kpop because of this performance. Until now,I am stand taemin + shinee. Their live performance more than MVs
AMEN !! Thank you for this reaction !! One of my favorite live performance from him. And trust me you took the perfect video for this performance. The official one is a mess, they film the audience or the fireworks while the choreo is going hard !
This performance was for like a JOINT CONCERT, Korea always have those, where different artists perform, around 60.. close 70k audience probably. But Taemin already hold SOLO CONCERT & TOURS in KOREA and JAPAN (outside SHINee) mainly, performing in 15, 20, 30k/show arenas in multiple days.
Watching Taemin performs is always a blessing! I love his Want era outfits so much. With all those belts accentuating his waist and the long glove (ofc the connection with MJ). I love how it highlights his hips movements even more! I love it so much!
For a live you should really check out sexuality it is sexy, sensual and soul snatching. This performance is like if prince and Michael Jackson had a baby taemin would be it. Fan made video is always hard to hear the performance so a filmed one is better. But pleeeeeeease be a sweet heart and check out sexuality thank you.
Chris thanks for the reaction. I think this may have been a fan meeting. He was speaking Japanese between the songs. If you want to see something from a first generation kpop group, try Shinhwa. They debuted in 1998 and are STILL active with all original members. Also from the same time frame for a big solo artist, you can't beat Rain. He debuted in 2002. Still active and one of the best.
Taemin likes dancing to Move coz as per him it’s so chill.. easy dance to sing to.. coz it’ not intense and all. Taemin was into popping and locking debut days.. then he ventured into more and more, different types dancing.
When I tell you fans’ cameras are usually more fancy than the press m mot joking. There’s a term in kpop called “canon goddesses”, it’s used to refer to SHINee fans coz of all the fancy, super pro canon cameras they use to take pictures of SHINee. Super nice pictures too. Brovo Taeminnie ^^ This is from 2019 Dream concert (one of the largest K-pop joint concerts in South Korea. Each year, a number of the most popular K-pop artists of the year join the event for performance.)
I love this performance and the outfit is absolute fire. He had couple of variations of this outfit in 2019 for Want era, the other iconic one was a purple one he had during his Xtm tour (Jun-August 2019). If you want a great live performance by Taemin please react to MAMA 2016 and KBS Song Festival 2020! Also Sexuality from his Budokan concert is a masterpiece! :)
I think you’re right to call it femininity. Taemin, in a couple of interviews, has said that experimenting with femininity, masculinity, and androgeneity is an important part of his artistic style-particularly with Move. He said they specifically aimed for a middle ground.
To add to what everyone else was saying, his dance training and Forte is actually pop and lock and hip hop. He's received company training starting at age 12 (and he's now about to be 28) and he debuted in his group SHINee at age 14 almost 15. So he's literally been performing on stage as a lead dancer or solo artist for the last 13 years... part of why he's so commanding on stage. But if you watch his first solos, such as Danger, Press Your Number, or Drip Drop you will see a lot more hand hitting hip hop choreo. He has delved into new styles more recently, with Move and Want, but now he seems to be gravitating back to his older styles while bringing that new stuff with him, as shown in Idea and Criminal. So yeah. His dance is a joy to watch, I would love to see you react to and analyze his development over the years, like watching his live stages of his solo songs in chronological order. And! "Sexuality" live is something you need to see to complete your image of him haha. I would also suggest "Artistic Groove", and of course the MV for "2 Kids"... he freestyled through that instead of having any choreography.
idk why you wouldn't do an actual live stage? there's a few i love i can suggest: taemin 'press your number' live stage (the blue thumbnail, because you'll hear why when you see it), taemin 'artistic groove' live stage, and taemin 'guess who' live in japan.
TAEMIN es el rey del performer Multipiesa Es único en la industria Sus videos y Concierto increíbles MAravillosos ver SAHONARA HISTORIA . FLAME OF LOVE DRID DROD videos . SEXUALITY, TIGER, DOOR concierto Japón . fantastico ARTE .👑💎🙏
SHInee fans are fan pages (each member has their own as well as OT5) always carry huge professional cannon cameras and reporters at some point complained fan pictures and videos are better quality than professionals in news industry. That is why shinee fans are called cannons and you always can see these lenses in the crowd
This his performance in Dream Concert 2019. It's an annual concert where popular kpop groups or soloist perform in one event. If you want to see the fans he was waving too there is a lot of SHINee World or Shawols (SHINee fandom name) videos of them cheering during events because our color Pearl Aqua Blue is the most illuminating out of all lightsticks. here's a fancam of the fans he was waving too > ruclips.net/video/M8sGcQHreEg/видео.html As you can see fans are usually divided by section Hence the different colors that you can see. Shawols were the original Canon Goddesses because of their huge cameras to take photos of SHINee. There were a lot of anecdotes before how media reporters were shocked that shawols have greater and more expensive cameras than their own staff. Here's a sample photo of taemin taken by fans during this performance at dream con '19 > pin.it/1AaozyL
I love your reactions!! Please react to Kick Back from WayV!! Btw, WayV is another sub-unit from NCT so you can include them in the NCT playlists. Pd: if you watch NCT 2020 Resonance you will see all of the 23 members❤️❤️
Pls check it out Sexuality Live Performance at Budukan! Swear, u will not regret it! His Concerts are so so amazing, his stage presence is so incredible!
There's a better fancam - for the life of me I cannot remember by whom - but the fancam has 3 cameras, including one in the press/video pit. Sometimes SHINee's fancams are better than the official videos. Taemin's waving to the SHINee World section - fandoms are divided in the seating for Dream Concert. He's also made a point of studying how performers get the attention of the crowd - he's an incredibly smart man.
also here: ruclips.net/video/PAqfl06hScI/видео.html this is a funny link around the time of SHINee's debut, where you say taemin was good at moving his hips but here, you see how bad they were during debut it was so cute and awkward and hilarious lol.
I know he has a tattoo on his arm. Tattoos cannot be on tv with out being covered in sk. Most people put skin coloured tape overtop like the khiphop community, instead Taemin's stylist uses outfits like blazers with one arm or gloves that are extended.
That’s not the case with Want era however, since back then he didn’t even have a tattoo (it was in 2019 and he got his tattoos early 2020). The glove and one short and one long sleeve was a highlight of his costumes for Want era - like a signature element of his styling.
@@Auntie67 That is true, thank you. I forgot that it he got his tattoos after. I guess this can be more applied to more of his newer stuff. Some reactors never know about the stigma that tattoos have in korean media, I just got timeline wrong.
Thanks for the video, bur you choose a really bad one to react. You know, Taemin held several solo concerts when SHINee was in hiatus and even before that, and you can have much more fun watching some of the performances that he does there. I recommend Sexuality, Guess Who, Famous... etc. :)

there's a few i love i can suggest: taemin 'press your number' live stage (the blue thumbnail, because you'll hear why when you see it), taemin 'artistic groove' live stage, and taemin 'guess who' live in japan.
TAEMIN es el rey del performer Multipiesa Es único en la industria Sus videos y Concierto increíbles MAravillosos ver SAHONARA HISTORIA . FLAME OF LOVE DRID DROD videos . SEXUALITY, TIGER, DOOR concierto Japón . fantastico ARTE .👑💎🙏
Yow🔥
Taemin is living art. But can u just give us Kai's iconic red suit love shot fancam please.
SHInee fans are fan pages (each member has their own as well as OT5) always carry huge professional cannon cameras and reporters at some point complained fan pictures and videos are better quality than professionals in news industry. That is why shinee fans are called cannons and you always can see these lenses in the crowd
it's okay to be jealous of them hips!
didnt taemin once say that he never got pro training and that he just self taught?
can you please react to taemin at mama 2020??
This his performance in Dream Concert 2019. It's an annual concert where popular kpop groups or soloist perform in one event. If you want to see the fans he was waving too there is a lot of SHINee World or Shawols (SHINee fandom name) videos of them cheering during events because our color Pearl Aqua Blue is the most illuminating out of all lightsticks.
here's a fancam of the fans he was waving too

As you can see fans are usually divided by section
Hence the different colors that you can see.
Shawols were the original Canon Goddesses because of their huge cameras to take photos of SHINee. There were a lot of anecdotes before how media reporters were shocked that shawols have greater and more expensive cameras than their own staff.
Here's a sample photo of taemin taken by fans during this performance at dream con '19

Please react to Taemin " famous, drip drop, sexuality, 2kids, danger!
And to Key" i wany you"
I love your reactions!!
Please react to Kick Back from WayV!!
Btw, WayV is another sub-unit from NCT so you can include them in the NCT playlists.
Pd: if you watch NCT 2020 Resonance you will see all of the 23 members❤️❤️
Twice has a cover with this you better check it out!😉
Pls check it out Sexuality Live Performance at Budukan! Swear, u will not regret it! His Concerts are so so amazing, his stage presence is so incredible!
Taemin does androgynous the best
There's a better fancam - for the life of me I cannot remember by whom - but the fancam has 3 cameras, including one in the press/video pit. Sometimes SHINee's fancams are better than the official videos. Taemin's waving to the SHINee World section - fandoms are divided in the seating for Dream Concert. He's also made a point of studying how performers get the attention of the crowd - he's an incredibly smart man.

this is a funny link around the time of SHINee's debut, where you say taemin was good at moving his hips but here, you see how bad they were during debut it was so cute and awkward and hilarious lol.
Please react to Move (Taemin) Cover by Twice (Momo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung that's really cool
우리나라는 공연할때 보면, 대부분 백댄서들 의상에 너무 신경을 안써준다.
남자 백댄서들 의상을 약간 타이트한 제복 스타일로 했으면, 더 멋있었을듯.
Please react NCT 127 - gimme gimme and Wayv - Kick back dance practice
Please react about IZONE Lee Chaeyeon's Studio Choom video and also her other videos like the one from Idol Room. :)
please react to sb19's "What?" MV
It seems like his dancing is natural not taught.
There is no kai stan here talking about him like how taemin stans doing in kai video, y'all miserable
Thanks for the video, bur you choose a really bad one to react. You know, Taemin held several solo concerts when SHINee was in hiatus and even before that, and you can have much more fun watching some of the performances that he does there. I recommend Sexuality, Guess Who, Famous... etc. :)
