Hihi Coley!! As a brazillian, thank you so so much for the video!!!!!! Feels like you made us justice hkfghdfjgsrdjf. Responding to the last question of the video, i haven't really been affected by the shutdown, but feel it was kinda stupid... Twitter was, in fact, a platform used by A LOT of people, and with the Miku trend it felt like we were finally getting that recognition :[ After everything, i'm still glad we had our shine, even if for a few days. I'm actually an artist and drew Miku myself, but thankfully i don't rely on Twitter to do so. Thanks for the video again!!! O brasil te ama Coley!!!!!
the brazilian miku trend was especially heartwarming to me since i live in a very,, i dont wanna say racist- ignorant town- so i start to believe brazilians are just "ugly" "thugs" or whatever stereotype. and seeing all the adorable rlly cheers me up- i wish i wasnt so late to it >
Brazilian here! To add some context, we can't use VPN and change our location because the law will actually gives us around an 8k dollar fine if we use VPN (~50k Reais) How will they check who's using VPN and who's not? I have NO idea. Will they ACTUALLY fine someone? Bruh I'll be honest I doubt it, but better to be safe then sorry 😭 Me personally, altho brazilian, I live in another country so the ban didn't effect me.. cus well I'm in another country As for the aftermath, most of the accounts are innactive, but there are still some people willing to risk it and use a VPN. actually, he retracted the VPN ban cause yeah, just like Unity when they said they were adding an "installation fee", he said that without knowing if it was even possible. according to people who work on VPN companies, it technically is? but only if there's a data leak, otherwise it's near impossible.

2:26 another common misunderstanding is the the Brazil Miku trend started the adding Miku and other vocaloids to random things and drawing them as "insert character here". This is not new at all, people have been doing this for years. Mainly for covers of songs or as memes, they would place the hair of the vocaloid on the character or draw a version of Miku (or another vocaloid) as that character. The only new thing is people drawing Miku as their countries.
Brazilian here! One of the things that made Miku's trend is the fact that she's like Spider-Man, anyone can be her.Whether you're from anywhere in the world, male or female, everyone can be Hatsune Miku just like everyone can be Spider-Man!! Not having Twitter anymore has been a pain, it's like I've lost a limb. Most of the people I interacted with were from other parts of the world, especially fanart artists. Most Brazilians are on Bluesky now, and I'm happy that some people from outside Brazil followed us with this migration (thanks Simmers, that's why we love you). It has been a topic of discussion on Bluesky whether or not Twitter will one day return to having a large presence of Brazilians once it is no longer banned. Many people seem to be getting used to Bluesky and other platforms with each passing day.But I hope one day we can all come back. (English is not my first language, I wrote this comment with the help of Google translate. Sorry for any mistakes.)
I'm Brazilian, we're still without Twitter and to me what sucks the most is that there is no date for when this ban will end. But I do find it so cute and heartwarming to see others wanting Brazilians back on the platform ksskksks. Keep hoping for the best, y'all. Cause things are getting weird

Brazilian here! Most of Brazil have moved onto BlueSky, but I have seen some saying they'd risk the Twitter VPN. It's a risk because using one would come at a fine of R$ 50.000 (U$D 8.000). Apparently it's to avoid more misinformation spreading but it was taken to the extreme. It's been sad to be locked out considering so many of us had people we liked talking to in the TL, but we're acclimating to BSky, hoping more international friends will also migrate or we'll get TWT back at some point. (Hoping more for the former though from what I see and I get it lol) We'll all hunting down our friends' accounts so that's the most tightknit we've been fandom-wise, BSky is being more chill. Muitos abraços vindos do Brasil!
Last I heard they were discussing making the VPN think a rule for companies but not for indivudal users (what could justify the fine being so high) but no decisions were made yet @@bea7823

as a brazilian ☝️and also a fandom artist its kinda hard having to start over from scratch… and lot of my mutuals got upset because large part of their money came from art comissions they had on twitter and for accounts that had up to 60k followers to just lose all of that in a day it’s awful. Of course numbers of followers isn’t everything but when you’re an artist, especially one who’s getting money from their art, having a large audience is a great achievement so it’s really bad seeing so many people going through that :(

0:59 so what you described is a UTAU. You can not make your own vocaloid as YAMAHA is the one that owns that term and unless your software is under them, you legally can not say it's a vocaloid. UTAU is open sorce (with distribution limitation on voice banks based on existing people or characters) and vocaloid is not. I do understand the confusion though as it has slowly become a general term that many peole use so that things are easier.
The highlight of this Miku Worldwide trend for me was my friend's delighted reaction when I managed to find Székely Miku for her. She said 'All these Romanian Mikus are cool but I wish there was a specifically Székely one.' and I knew I had to do epic battle with tumblr's shitty search function for her immediately. Definitely worth it.
i loved this trend, my friend convinced me to draw southern california miku and it was so much fun i’m mainly in the qsmp community (which has a ton of people from brazil + all over) so it was so fun to see all the artist i follow/am friends with post their different mikus then there was of course the devastation at the twitter ban, the qsmp community would be nowhere without the brazilians

As a Brazilian, I'm flabbergasted that Coley talked about Brazilian Miku and the Brazilian ban on twitter! 😱 And yes, it totally did changed how I interact with fandom! Many Brazilians who were on twitter used it as their main social media. It took a heavy tool on many Brazilian artists who relied on the platform to reach their audience. It was really heartbreaking seeing some of my favorite artists struggling, one of them was about to start a crowdfunding campaign for their comic 😢 Not to mention we now don't have access to foreign twitter accounts. So a huge part of fandom is lost for us, since many japanese and korean artists and official accounts are active only on twitter. 😢 Most of us moved to Bluesky, it's a really nice platform, it reminds me of twitter on it's old days, but there arent many foreign accounts there so we are missing out on many things.😢
Historical Event + Internet Happenings should be a playlist on your channel at some point it's happening so frequently istg. Do you have a November 5th Video? It would be so funny! Love the Brazillian Miku video!!!
This trend reminded me of another trend in the past where people drew miku if she was a character from their oc universes (going from various fictional worlds to the real world, we love to see it)
As a brazilian, I kind of feel like a huge part of my connections to fandoms both in and outside of Brazil has been cut off Although I do use other platforms (such as tumblr, ig, etc) it still feels like I'm missing out on a lot And of course, I also lost access to a lot of important resources (again, both in and outside of the country) which is the part that worries me the most 🥹 silly example (so I don't mention one of the many, many serious ones): CHIITAN MIKU PROMISED TO PROTECT BRAZIL AND I WASN'T THERE TO SEE IT LIKE C'MON 😭
Brazilian here :D thanks for covering the trend and acknowledging the first artist to draw brazilian miku! That Miku’s also eating acarajé, an afro-brazilian dish very popular in the state of bahia but also found in many other coastal states of the country! We’ve moved to BlueSky and honestly it feels like a breath of fresh air to have moderation and protection against hate speech in a social media platform again! I miss the japanese artists tho, but it’s alright. Hopefully twitter goes bankrupt and the whole world will go to BlueSky just like the whole world is going to brazil 🇧🇷💖
As a Brazilian who lost access to Twitter: 1- f*** you Elon Musk 2- I don't have access to many artists and fanartists I followed, specially fandom specific ones (like my dear Arknights, which fandom is really small in here). 3- I migrated to BlueSky for now, I might be back to Tumblr someday as well qwq
fun fact! there were regional brazilian mikus too. i remember seeing a gaúcha brazilian miku, a cangaceira brazilian miku,a frevo dancer brazilian miku... shame i lost ALL OF THEM BC TWITTER BOT BANNEEEEEDDDDDD
The only one I saw was British chav Miku on tumblr, and she has my whole heart. Truly captured the true essence of at least one girl in every uk secondary school.
I'm Brazilian, and honestly, even though it's a widely used social network for cool things, it was a lawless land, and it bothers me a lot that Elon Musk thinks he can dictate his own rules within other people's countries. If it continues like this, it will be incredible if other countries don't do the same, until Elon answers for his own actions.
what a dumb take. Twitter isn't even a Brazilian company, they have no need to follow their laws. It goes both ways, twitter doesn't get to change rules in brazil, and brazil don't get to change anything with twitter. Brazil just followed suit with what russia, china, india, etc has been doing, if they don't get the control they want they just start filtering sites out. It's how it should be
I agree, until Twitter and Musk gets their shit together we brazilians will stay on Bluesky, maybe even permanently, it's a very nice platform even if still lacking some features.
Thing is, he has complied with other countries laws, only Brazil he seems so defiant to stand against, when all Moraes asked was a representative and to reopen office because national law says so, Elon's targeting us specifically to push something.
I WAS WONDERING WHY I KEPT SEEING SO MANY VERSIONS OF MIKU IN MY TUMBLR PAGE- Honestly, has to be one of the best trends I’ve seen in a while ( Also, Kekeflipnote jumpscare- )
Thanks for talking about the situation! I should add that we all just moved to bluesky, so if you want to see more brazilian miku artwork we're still making it ^^
2:55 this other brazilian miku is a reference for a very famous brazilian meme of a boy dancing infront of a brazilian flag as the dog ""dances"" whit him!
As a Brazilian i'm actually kinda suprise how little people are caring about it , the sentiment is basically This: "Oh no twitter is gone! Anyways..." Tho most think that banning twitter is a bit much the fact this is all because of Elon musk being a man child with too much money desrespecting Brazilian law, with the excuse of free speach makes most actually OK with it, but the VPN fine everyone thinks is going too far
honestly, as a brazillian that was kinda addicted to twitter, I'm starting to feel lost on internet movements, like, that brazil miku being sealed like gojo, wonderful art that I literally have no way of seeing outside this video, god, in a fandom/meme sense it sucks being separated from the gringo side of trends, really feels like I have no way of telling what is going on, and this also applies to more concerning matters, like world wide news, before I'd see a tweet referencing it well before it appeared on the TV, but now I have to rely on, idk, instagram and tiktok? and it's simply not the same, the premises of those social medias are sooo different, and bluesky and threads will never be the same as twitter cuz, 1- the international community still largely uses twitter, and 2- idk man, the brainrot is not the same, your mom can see what you post on threads, instagram is waaay too close to IRL spaces for it to work
8:36 answering this question (I’m Brazilian), tbh it didn’t effect me at all cause I never liked twitter, so I never used it. I had an account cause I wanted to have access to some Japanese artists, but twitter really isn’t for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But of course I don’t like that it was banned, so many people uses it, or… did use
As a Brazilian I’m so happy you covered this! It’s honestly a shame that we’ll lose so much content and so many creators, and I don’t even use twitter but still we’ll be loosing a lot because of grown men fighting like children. But anyways ty Coley this is q very good video :D💛💚💙
Hi, Brazillian here, we took over Bluesky for now. But the situation is basically what you said, Twitter was violating our laws and our Supreme Court (we call it STF - Supremo Tribunal Federal) had to intervene, and on top of the misinformation and hate speach, foreign enterprises have to apoint a legal representant here, Twitter didn't cause they had an office before it was shut down and the employees laid off, so basically a lot of violations of our laws + the owner attitude about it didn't help. For similar reasons Telegram almost got banned, it did not cause they did appoint the legal representant. And about Fandom, it has not been so bad, my personal problem is ppl I followed and their content are exclusively on Twitter (this regards GOT/HOTD but specially Warcraft), without mentioning the artists and fan accounts I didn't found yet.
I’m not on Twitter, but I did make an upstate South Carolina Miku. I had a three-panel comic (based on a true story) where she got mad about being told she doesn’t see palm trees often (it was a palmetto) and a picture of her carrying a live deer on her shoulders and declaring it hers.
THANK YOU, as a brazilain, I'm both tired of brazlians pretending that the ban of the twitter is something good, and foringers passing the ban as not a big deal, IT IS A BIG DEAL, ITS NOT A GOOD THING TO BE CENSORED, BECAUSE LEX LUTTHOR IS PRETTY MUCH A AUTORITHATIAN
the pride i felt every time you said brazilian miku. VAI BRASILLLLL!!! also my dad and mom's friends use x for seeing the news... unlucky them (we live outside of brazil so that's prob why i didn't hear of this sooner lmao)
2:22 While the Miku Worldwide trend definitely did help push this other trend up, this particular trend isn’t actually new. People have been drawing Miku in different fandoms for years now. There was an apparent boom with this trend during the last year or so in particular. I remember seeing Spiderverse Miku, Mob Psycho Miku, Miku the Killer, Gorillaz Miku, Omori Miku, etc. Popular song covers are also another thing that leaned close towards this trend, with one major example being Astrophysics (the musician), who often made covers using Miku, and then drew several Mikus basically replacing the original artists/bands for the thumbnails. Sometimes people just paste a shitty cutout of her hair on album covers. And this isn’t even mentioning the shit ton of vocaloid anime covers out there… there’s Chainsaw Man Miku, Your Lie in April Miku, Tokyo Ghoul Miku, Attack on Titan Miku, etc. etc. Although, arguably, one could say the same thing about the Miku Worldwide trend. African American Miku, Palestinian Miku, and Filipino Miku are just some of the Worldwide Mikus I’ve seen before it became the gigantic recent trend that it is. But I guess it was still pretty niche back then, and wasn’t as popular of a trend is right now. Miku can be anyone and anything, so I guess this was all bound to happen.
As a brazilian kpop stan who mostly used twitter to follow fandom stuff all i can say is that it's been rough... the brazilian community itself is still pretty united in other platforms but it's a lot harder to get information from international accs, official one's included (pls send help)

Tbh I was never a twitter person. I mainly use IG and tumblr but followed like 4 artists on twitter cuz they don't post anywhere else anymore. Guess I'll have to accept my eyes will never be blessed w their art ever again :(
as a brazilian, i have to say - first of all, loved Chiitan standing up for us, love them. second, i love all the international community and the fandoms rooting for us, we love you guys. third and a bit more of context on what's going on: i hate Musk as much as the next person here but I gotta say he was not in the wrong in this specific case against our government, and I'll explain why - our government asked twitter to ban some hate speech accounts but they put some government opposition and non hate speech accounts on the list they sent twitter -> Musk refused due to his free speech thing -> government threatened to arrest all twitter employees in Brazil -> Musk removed all representatives in Brazil so nobody would be arrested -> government blocked twitter in all national territory -> government will give a $8k fine to whoever uses VPN, for twitter or not since they can't know what it's been used for -> government asked Google and Apple's app store to remove all VPN apps -> government put twitter fines on Starlink since they are from the same guy -> Starlink refused to pay, too -> all Starlink money and anything money-related was frozen -> our fricking MILITARY and a lot of frontier services are on Starlink -> Musk said he'd continue to sent us internet for free -> government removed VPN fines since it was against our constitution -> huge political movement to force an impeachment on the judge that gave the order since he's been abusing his power for quite some time, to the point that he's been going against our own law -> now we're waiting, i guess? this saturday it was our Independence Day and there were a lot of protests. We have no idea if twitter will be back here, but I gotta say - a lot of Brazilians had twitter as their main source of income - artists and some influencers, but mainly artists. A lot of them went to bluesky but most is having a lot of trouble since a lot of the people that bought their arts were from other countries! As for myself, I used twitter as a lot of things - from searching news to interacting with some moots, I miss seeing a lot of people I used to interact with, I miss receiving news from multiple media in one place, I miss seeing my fandoms news and all that comes with it - it's been some hard days, but I at least got in touch with some friends in other social media so we are at least interacting... I think the worst is realizing how our lives and what we do daily can be completely changed by a single person that happened to be the leader of the Supreme Court and acts like a 5yo having beef with a billionaire across the seas that also acts like a 5yo - today is twitter, tomorrow? who knows....
In the first days some of us kinda decided that we would live (literarily) tweet like making a compilation of things we would probably post and read it out loud for friends and/or coworkers. It was fun. Lots of them was about wanting to eat, no money and self delete. It was great.
5:53 As a Brazilian, I want to add to this the fact that Elon Musk did try appointing a third party as X's legal representative, but nobody accepted due to a certain powertripping egghead that shall not be named threatening to arrest X's employees. So nobody he approached wanted to get involved in the mess. Said egghead also froze Starlink's and SpaceX's money to pay for X's legal fees, which is not legal because there's no fraud involved here that would justify freezing another company's money to pay for a different company's fees. Oh, did I also mention the egghead made R$50k (about 10k in US dollars) a fee for anyone using VPN to access X? (Don't ask me how they plan on tracking that) Mind you that minimum salary here is R$1.412 a month (about US$252). The problem goes beyond this, but I'd need to write a mega essay to explain the whole conflict, so I'll leave you with the short explanation. Send help, please.

To add some context, we can't use VPN and change our location because the law will actually gives us around an 8k dollar fine if we use VPN (~50k Reais)
How will they check who's using VPN and who's not? I have NO idea. Will they ACTUALLY fine someone? Bruh I'll be honest I doubt it, but better to be safe then sorry 😭
Me personally, altho brazilian, I live in another country so the ban didn't effect me.. cus well I'm in another country
As for the aftermath, most of the accounts are innactive, but there are still some people willing to risk it and use a VPN. So we aren't extinct and will never be lol (A gente é que nem barata)
But Rest In Peace Brazil Twitter, you'll always be remembered, and so will you Brazilian Miku 🇧🇷💚💛💙
Edit 2 : Bruh, after a bunch of legal stuff, Twitter will be returning to Brazil. What a mess 😪
Edit : Krl, gente c vc é brasileiro ent responde em português pelo amor de deus 😭
actually, he retracted the VPN ban cause yeah, just like Unity when they said they were adding an "installation fee", he said that without knowing if it was even possible. according to people who work on VPN companies, it technically is? but only if there's a data leak, otherwise it's near impossible.
@@octonine6212 Thx for the explanation!
Also piracy is barely a crime here so.... VPN fines were never gonna stick
The VPN thing was more of an idea raised than an actual law, seeing as it didn’t even last a day.
im also brazilian who lives somewhere else currently, its not like twitter wiped out an entire race off their platform.
even when i go back to my hometown, i dont see it as a giant loss in terms of posting art, i have pixiv!
Yeah, those talkloid videos that dubbed over memes were my favourite things ever lollll
@@WinterDewdrop Yeah they were great. Just put the hair over the original meme

Muitos abraços vindos do Brasil!

the brazillian Miku trend ia amazing! I'm a Brazillian fro the northeast reagion of the country. The baning is happening and is real, but a lot of the population has still has access becouse the ANATEL (Brazzilian National Telecommunications Agency) banned access from the biggest serves of internet in the country, while the smallest ones are still not upteded, so most people in the capitals of the stades lost access, but a lot of people in the country side are still able to connec. But, they seen to be uptading the ban, for example, from this morning i was umable to connect to Twitter, and i have a smaller company's plan, so the order is still being emplemented
I love this trend because in France everyone started to draw miku based on traditional regional clothing, which is pretty rare to see in anime style art

I love "Polish Miku" cuz it's either Miku in traditional folk clothes or Miku in some adidas sweatshirt going to a shop called "Żabka" (eng. Froggy). We started joking that polish Miku has 2 genders and they are both dating. In Poland we also have some jokes about receipts from a store called "Biedronka", which recently started printing over 1 meter long receipts, and someone drew Miku with these receipts instead of ponytails. I love it xD

as a brazilian ☝️and also a fandom artist its kinda hard having to start over from scratch… and lot of my mutuals got upset because large part of their money came from art comissions they had on twitter and for accounts that had up to 60k followers to just lose all of that in a day it’s awful. Of course numbers of followers isn’t everything but when you’re an artist, especially one who’s getting money from their art, having a large audience is a great achievement so it’s really bad seeing so many people going through that :(

As a Brazilian, I'm flabbergasted that Coley talked about Brazilian Miku and the Brazilian ban on twitter! 😱
And yes, it totally did changed how I interact with fandom! 😢
Most of us moved to Bluesky, it's a really nice platform, it reminds me of twitter on it's old days, but there arent many foreign accounts there so we are missing out on many things.😢
The amount of Polish Mikus, ranging from various regional folk outfits to tracksuit Miku drinking cheap booze in front of Żabka store, was insane
Historical Event + Internet Happenings should be a playlist on your channel at some point it's happening so frequently istg. Do you have a November 5th Video? It would be so funny! Love the Brazillian Miku video!!!
This trend reminded me of another trend in the past where people drew miku if she was a character from their oc universes (going from various fictional worlds to the real world, we love to see it)
Oh, now I get where all these Brazilian and other country Miku versions I've been seeing on Instagram the last few days have been coming from 😂
That California Miku was gorgeous omg
As a brazilian, I kind of feel like a huge part of my connections to fandoms both in and outside of Brazil has been cut off
Although I do use other platforms (such as tumblr, ig, etc) it still feels like I'm missing out on a lot
And of course, I also lost access to a lot of important resources (again, both in and outside of the country) which is the part that worries me the most 🥹

It's how it should be
TL;DR: I hope twitter gets taken down in every other country too it sucks as a platform

Anyways..."
Tho most think that banning twitter is a bit much the fact this is all because of Elon musk being a man child with too much money desrespecting Brazilian law, with the excuse of free speach makes most actually OK with it, but the VPN fine everyone thinks is going too far
honestly, as a brazillian that was kinda addicted to twitter, I'm starting to feel lost on internet movements, like, that brazil miku being sealed like gojo, wonderful art that I literally have no way of seeing outside this video, god, in a fandom/meme sense it sucks being separated from the gringo side of trends, really feels like I have no way of telling what is going on, and this also applies to more concerning matters, like world wide news, before I'd see a tweet referencing it well before it appeared on the TV, but now I have to rely on, idk, instagram and tiktok? and it's simply not the same, the premises of those social medias are sooo different, and bluesky and threads will never be the same as twitter cuz, 1- the international community still largely uses twitter, and 2- idk man, the brainrot is not the same, your mom can see what you post on threads, instagram is waaay too close to IRL spaces for it to work
I remember there was a faction in DC Comics called the Batmen of all Nations, and this art tend is literally that but better.
Oh I'm early???? Wow. Happy almost legal age Miku. Tbh I found a lot of artists to follow through this challenge.
I love all of the Mikus lol
Brazilian Miku being so popular just for twitter to get banned there is crazy 😭

YEEEEESS
the pride i felt every time you said brazilian miku.
Love this tend bc of Australian Miku KEKEK bc on one hand, you get awesome as hell Aboriginal themed Miku designs, then you get the Eshay looking Miku designs, I love this trend so much
Tbh I was never a twitter person.
You are churning out these videos like nothing. I'm impressed.

Send help, please.
descreveu bem, o egg head querendo brincar de Deus, mas uma hora a conta chegará para ele
So i dont do Twitter and i didnt realize what happened until your vid, i feel kinda bad I got to the scène so late with my Dutch Miku. The Musky Husky must really upload a sense of irony in his brain after yet another debacle
I love this trend, honestly; maybe international Miku will help me out of my art slump 👀 Or media Miku at least, whichever inspiration strikes first
As a Brazilian fan, I feel seen right now. Thank you Coley ❤
I'm gonna design another miku because of this
