Excellent step by step process. I purchased this vehicle recently and found your video to be one of the best tutorials. Thanks for the video close ups and hard work. The pick is the perfect tool for the wiring clamps!
Thanks so much! I had oil down in my plugs and needed to replace the valve cover on my 2012 1.8L LS Chevy Cruze. My Cruze has been a fantastic car with NO problems over 11 yrs of ownership. Really love the 6 speed stick.
Any updates on leak/seal issues? I hear so many mixed reviews on the brand to get for the replacement. Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated. I have to get this done tomorrow for school and I’m freaking out
My pcv hose is also being stubborn when connecting to the port on the valve cover. You used a silicon paste to get it connected. Can you give me any tips, so I know it is on correctly attached. It comes off too easily after installation.
It should snap on , but it may take a lot of force. Worse case there may be a deffect with the spout . You might try comparing to the old one. Thanks for the question.
hey mate, did you add rtv to the corners even though you had the gasket. i heard that you shouldn't use rtv and a gasket at the same time. would it affect anything. i want to do it to be extra safe with the corners
@@s33therfan I saw that video right before this one. I believe it was the one that you've replaced its orange membrane, the one where you heated and broke part of the valve's cover while you were removing it, and then used a type of glue to fix it. Mine is different than that (same as in this video). By the way, my car is a Daewoo Lacetti Premier 2009 (a Chevy Cruze with the Daewoo logo).
@@s33therfan I bought it in 2009, shortly before Daewoo was sold to GM. Going fine after 14 yrs, except for the transmission, which I've repaire almost 7 or 8 times.
I appreciate the information , I was not aware of these cars. I have replaced the transmission in this Cruze 1.8l also. Seems I remember something with the pressure switches on the techm . They upgraded them after a few years . The transmission is the same for 1.4L but the worst years here were 2011 and 2012 best I recall. Thanks again.
I just got a 2011 chevy cruze 1.8 and experienced a loss of power during high speeds and would blow off huge amount of smoke in the exhaust pipe and ruff idle. When i turned off the engine it would go back to normal. Do think it’s also tye pcv cover that i should replace?
Having the same issue it's hard to duplicate. And it's very intermittent. Going to replace the cam cover and pcv hose with oem parts and see if that fixes it. What else could it possibly be? If it was a mechanical issue it would be burning oil all the time
Thanks for the video. Any issues since installing this valve cover? Want to go OEM but $300 vs $100 for this one. If you didn't have issues with this one, i'll take your word and buy and install this one instead. Thanks!
I know with aftermarket it is sometimes hit or miss , but this replacement was just like oem. No issues whatsover and it was a bargain price. Thank you for the feedback.
So i swapped the valve cover for the one on amazon. Torqued everything to spec. The pcv hose snapped but I tapped it up and ensured it was sealed nicely. Now blue smoke comes out on heavy acceleration. I grabbed the gasket from the amazon cover and threw it on the original valve cover and the same thing happens! Any idea what it can be?? 2016 cruze limited, 1.8L with 170k kms
@@s33therfan It ended up being the valve cover lol I guess my amazon special died prematurely. Used a new OEM valve cover and no more issues, except for a faint oil odour, even though I don't see any leaks since replacing.
Well if it is not old residual oil from the old gasket it does not make sense. It could be a deffective gasket or it slipped out of place during the install slightly. I would get a new gasket and just do it over. Wish I could be more help.
If it was fine before , I would wondering about the spark plugs. Now the oil will mess up the coil packs also , but theres no reason I would think it would be problem if fine before. Hope this helps.
I replaced the valve cover with the PCV, it runs better but still has some missing, hesitation. I dont understand what is happening. Added Lucas to gas. ???
Thank you for the video as I have being doing so much research to figure out why I am getting code PO001 & PO101 and this seems to be possibly one of my problems as my spark plugs were changed 2 different coil packs attempted and caused more problems , engine has too much oil mechanic charged me for spark plugs and said there was nothing he could do more and had to have car towed home , now trying to figure out what needs to be changed or fixed as I will attempt to do it myself would you have any videos on any of these issues I am having ? thx
Anyone have a problem that it drives fine for a bit then will stall at a light. When you go to start it back up the engine goes crazy bucking and jumping and atabilli track comes on and traction control flashes saying check them. Then you wait a bit and starts up just fine?
Yes! Mine ended up being the transmission control module. Dealer wanted 2k installed and programed. I bought one on ebay and installed myself. Had it towed to dealership with my roadside assistance so they could program, which should only be 1 hour labor charge. After all said and done I spent 650 bucks and runs like a champ again.
You could , but you would need the 1.8l wiring harness , pcm programmed to the car etc. I am sure several other things. The easiest way is with a donor car. Transmissions are the same , only difference is shifter lever. Thanks for the feedback
@s33therfan but I just want to thank u for this knowledge that you've given me if I never watched ur vids I would've bought that engine and scammed in person
@@s33therfan I bought a kit of removal sockets and I've been able to give a slack to the screw. Now I'm gonna be ok to buy a new cover and do the job. But tell me, there's no way this 2011 model was in such a good shape when you filmed this video last year! Mine is a 2014 and everything is so rusted in there!! Thank you to the guy who posted this.
I have watched a bunch of these 1.8l valve cover replacement videos. Yours is by far the best and most complete. Nice job.
I truly appreciate the great feedback. Thank you.

Hey , thanks for this amazing video. I’m only replacing the valve cover seal any tips?
There is nothing real critical just put a dab of rtv at the junctions or any curvatures. Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for this video. I finally found my exact model. Your video is bet detail, and now i know i can do this. Again, thank you!
Thank you very much for the excellent feedback.
To get oil out of spark plug holes I always just take my blower stick it in the hole and then hold a rag over it it does a fairly good job
Great tip , thank you for sharing.

Thanks, I Just did mine and your video made it easy.

At 6:25 , what is the name of that hose? Mine snapped right in half from being so brittle. I can't seem to find the replacement.

hey mate, did you add rtv to the corners even though you had the gasket. i heard that you shouldn't use rtv and a gasket at the same time. would it affect anything. i want to do it to be extra safe with the corners
I would put a little rtv in the corners and run a light bead up the curvature. It does not take much at all. Thank you for the question.
Thanks!
You bet! Thank you for watching.
Got the job done today with your help. Thanks again
Don't you have a video on how to replace the PCV valve (the same type as in this video)?
I did one on a Chevy Cruze 1.4L turbo , I decided to replace the whole valve cover here , but I found a bargain. Thanks for the feedback

God I hate this chevy cruze version. Everyone else with a cruze seems to have a much easier time. They made this one so annoying to work on.
