There is nothing like coming home from school on a Monday and seeing ed has released a new setup wars video, it really makes my day a little bit better!
Blacked out setup is my favourite. It's very well-done and is different than the kinds of setups that are featured on the show, with the attic setup being a close second for me. Both setups are definitely inspiring me to slowly improve mine! :)
albert's desk layout makes perfect sense though - he has line of sight to the door where he's guaranteed to notice movement with peripheral vision, he's never going to be spooked by something unexpected being in view from his streaming camera, and if anyone comes into the room there's no way they can appear on camera by accident, they have to intentionally walk into frame if they want to be seen. honestly the only "concern" is that there's not a lot of moveable space for the chair; if he spills a drink or something, there's not really space to jump out of the way and it might get into some of his expensive peripherals/pc
I think albert also chooses this layout, because of his feet. The brown Box is probably for to lay his legs on & if the desk was on the wall, there wouldn't be the space for his legs.
I think the RGB clouds people are doing lately look awesome but I'm a little concerned about it being a fire hazard like if one of the leds shorts and overheats, especially on some of the cheaper led strips where the leds and the pcb they are mounted aren't covered by a silicone barrier or a short at any loose connections (like between the power supply and the controller or where two stips are joined together in longer setups. Again I think they look really cool and if you want to do it. Here are a few suggestions. I would recommend using a decent power supply and not covering it the power so it can "breath" and keep cooler. Only use strips that have a silicone barrier covering the leds and the front of the pcb ribbon and securing/covering any connection points with heat shrink, electrical tape or hot glue. Also, real cotton is probably much safer than using polyester batting. Ideally you could also make a structural frame for your clouds out of chicken wire (chicken wire is cheap and easy to shape), this will keep the clouds from coming in contact with the led strips completely, allow for better light diffusion and allow you to use less cotton over all making the setup a little brighter.
Just a suggestion with the rgb light clouds. Maybe use a standard defuser behind it, and if needed, cut a slice into it every 5-10cm so it can bend the way you need it.

Secondly Antonie wins it for me today. Great setup. Clean cables, great monitor setup, great gaming room and a nice powerful little PC!
Antoine's setup is pretty organized similar to a lot of previous set-ups. The nanoleaf panels are placed to balance out the wall art. Love the mini fridge placed in the corner under your desk. Everything is placed just so it's minimized and de-cluttered. I also love the backboard you made. It blends with the layout of the desk while popping out as well. Though honestly, I'm still wondering why no one really puts their monitors in the corner, but that's just me. Also, I dig the custom platform setup for the game racing gear. Solid thumbs up. Michael's setup, ngl is probably my husband's favorite cause anti-rgb. I love how your competitive gaming monitor is the smaller of the 2. Plus that sound bar is very well hidden. Props cause I never noticed that until it was pointed out. Also, A+ for the cable management and drawer organization. It made my inner pc nerd cry. While not completely anti-rgb, the rgb is very minimal and well-executed with the minimalistic set-up. A++. Albert’s setup is pretty well executed for being in the spotlight. The cloud I agree is very well done, except you can see all the freakin LEDs through it! I agree with changing the layout so the desk is in the corner, but that’s me. I also agree with rearranging the webcam so it faces the wall. You can change the rgb cloud to be on the wall more about where the clock is and bring it slightly lower or another spot on the wall, just the wall isn’t so plain. Tim’s setup is well executed but I have a couple of complaints, starting with the way the monitors I laid out. It might just be me, but I hate that the 3rd monitor is a tablet. I get when you are on a tight budget, but I’d rather have uniformed monitors, especially since I can see better on another monitor. I’m pretty certain that thing to the right of the monitors is a spot for folders or magazines, but couldn’t those be tucked away in a drawer? Other than those 2 gripes, everything else, is well-executed. Willem’s setup on the front looks great, but my dude! Why are the cables behind the monitor? Especially the powerstrip! I normally don’t like the look of cable racks, but that would be far better than this. Love how you used the top of one of your speakers to display a stack of rubik cubes. Plus your server PC absolutely DOES NOT belong on the floor!! It’s better putting it behind the monitor like my husband.
I love the minimal sleek setups, I’m going for something similar with industrial look black shelves and metal but with more natural looking wood and plants and space themed
Referring to top intake fans, it doesn't change much from a cooling standpoint. It makes a little bit of noise since there is some turbulence while air is pulled in the back. For me, I did it for maintenance and visual reasons, and also this gives VRM-s a little bit better airflow since the fan in the back actually has a purpose. When top fans were exhausting, the back fan would interfere with cooling a rad so it had to be a little toned down, now when things get hot it spins fast so VRM-s get nice air (a little bit warmer but still airflow). Air is pulled from the top so it goes through a rad and filter on top so dust doesn't go to fans directly so it's easier to clean and since my PC is standing on a desk I can see my RGB fans and radiator doesn't hide it. Although one of the PC here might have a little problem there because it didn't have exhaust in the back of the case but maybe temps weren't affected. Edit: Also the last one might not need this that much, since the radiator is in the front, but still from the cooling standpoint, it doesn't change much.
gonna do some upgrades for my gaming bedroom mostly focusing on the color schemes and RGB strips upgrades. Thanks for posting this and all the people who submitted their setup because it really helps me even as a super budget gamer to find a way to make my gaming bedroom look nice.
I get why Albert chose that desk position, because if someone walks in your room you'll see them enter, it makes me paranoid if I sit with my back towards the door, especially if I have headphones on

Watching your videos on my 18" monitor in 30 fps, dreaming about having a gaming setup one day. Gotta start a part time job on the weekends i guess (im a highschooler)
definitely I would recommend doing that, I wanted a sick setup since highschool. went to college and never got a part time job, now that I have my career and a decent paying job at a bank, I finally built my setup, but don't have too much time to game :(
you must be from US, i m from India where part time jobs among teens is kind of a taboo, its considered very poor as the jobs pay minimum wage of 200 usd a month at max. I really hope, i lived in US so i can be financially independent and work my ass off to get a lay of the real world, now just focussing on my university studies to land with a sweet gig
Oh I am FIRMLY in the anti-RGB camp. It looks juvenile and gaudy. I use dim white setting on my keyboard purely for practical reasons. Functional, clean and classy. That's how I like it.
About the fan configuration, maybe it's about positive or negative pressure inside the case. In my experience, having positive pressure means less dust inside the case (obviously having filters in the fans) my neighbor has his PC with a negative pressure configuration, and it have a lot of dust in the PCIe covers, under the case, the radiator, and GPU compared to my choice.
Hot air rising doesn’t happen fast enough. But using the top as exhaust can suck your cold intake right out of your system. When you use the top and front as inside every single Pci slot near the graphics card is an exhaust vent. My thermals improved.
I love watching these Setup Wars broadcast, but it does "sadden" me a lot every time I watch. The reason being is that I see all these great setups and PCs and know that at least in this part of my life I will never have anything like them. :(

Michael's setup surely was refreshing to look at. Such a classic look that never gets old..!! Not that I have anything against RBG but too much Rainbow Puke in setups these days.
I do have a desk setup facing towards the door instead of the wall. I understand why people like their desks facing the wall. However it is considered very bad ‘fengshui’ when you place your back against others all the time. It’s just like a typical office setup. Think about all those successful people’s office, I believe most of them sit facing the entrance of the room like a boss.

I’m not an rgb hater, I do prefer minimalistic setups, however, when there is an appropriate amount of brightness and it’s simple and not a spew of colour, I think it looks really nice imo
