This is my favorite song from Evermore for exactly the reason you so eloquently explained. She acknowledged the negative times in her life and took accountability for her poor decisions during them, but then she used those situations to learn how to love in a healthy way; not just love the right guy, but to love herself and her life.
As a young woman who have went through a lot of painful things and never been in a relationship, this song gives me hope about the future. Whether I know what I need or want, someday it will come.

Lover era: "All the king's horses, all the king's men, couldn't put me together again." Evermore era: "Pushed from the precipice, climbed up the cliff again. Long story short, I survived." Taylor is basically a self-healing Humpty Dumpty.
she never fails to make me feel comfortable under her shade. she never fails to encourage me whenever im about to give up. whenever i listen to this song i feel like she's sitting in front of me, im sharing my feelings and all my problems and she's holding my hands and saying "everything will be okay". i cant express how much im thankful for everything she gave me and she's still giving me💔
"Past me, I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things, your nemesis will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing" A few months ago these words meant much less for me. I noticed Taylor Swift's lyrics tend to become deeply meaningful at some point in life, at least in mine.
this song is definitely about the 2016 kanye/kim drama. "long story short, it was a bad time." and the lyric, "long story short i survived" told that she survived and is past all the drama. there are also some lyrics about joe. "and hes passing by, rare as the glitter of a comet in the sky." this song tells a really cool story.
also, "you passed right by, i was in the alley surrounded on all sides" the you is joe, and the surrounded on all sides is about all the drama and media treating her badly. im so happy for taylor that she moved on and found someone that treats her well
Long story short, actually summed up the lyric "i don't love the drama, it loves me" as "i tried to pick my battles until the battle picked me" more professionally and with more lyrical maturity. It's even more poignant and not badass too.
Long story shory - and I cannot stress this enough - is genuinely the best song in evermore: the confessional lyrics, the fast-paced storytelling summing up the last 4 years, the melody and the upbeat tempo, ALL OF IT!
" I always felt I must look better in the rear view" I HAVE A THEORY only for this line. It probably means that people like to watch her turn her back and leave. People like to watch her fall, like when she disappeared. People like to watch her be broken. Like a mirrorball.
I think it means people appreciate her more after time has passed. For eg, her album Red was liked when it was released back in 2012, but it wasn't that acclaimed. But now it has taken a cult status and was named one of the best albums of 2010s. As they say, hindsight is 20/20 ^_^
I sort of agree but rather than her leaving I think people like leaving her (since when you drive away you can see her in the rear view). You only realize what you've lost further down the road.
@@capp12249 I totally agree!!And also in ‘the archer’she wrote about people leaving her...‘easy they come, easy they go, I jump from the train ride off alone',‘Who could ever leave me darling but who could stay?'

Everyone catches the folklore in Gold Rush. But no one catches the evermore in Long Story Short (We do not talk about the evermores in evermore ft. Bon Iver)
Ok but I LOVE how she uses the journal and cup of tea in the lyric video. Like as someone who journals a lot, it can be such a profound thing to write down how you've changed, how far you've come, your thoughts and feelings. This paired with her song about changing for the better and reflecting on her past relationships makes is mwah chefs kiss.

*Hey guys check out the male version of this album on my channel*
This gives off such “the 1” vibes and I don’t know why
My whole history of dating:
“Long story short, it was the wrong guy” 😩
Oof this hit too close to home
But when you find the right person it's: Long story short: it was the best time 🥰🥰
I feel ya🙌😝
There’s no greater truth in my life 😂😭
Mine was "long story short, it was no one"
"Past me, I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things, your nemesis will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing"
A few months ago these words meant much less for me. I noticed Taylor Swift's lyrics tend to become deeply meaningful at some point in life, at least in mine.
I'm living it ❤
guys! i just noticed the whole album runs 1:07:32 which if u add up all the numbers is ✨13✨!!! could this album be anymore perfect??
um well not really because 32 + 7 + 1 doesn't equal 13 but I get what you mean 1 + 7 + 3 + 2...
"so how's your 2020?"
taylor: *long story short, it was a bad time*
Future: Long story short, I survi-i-ived, and came back proudly saying that I made it through 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Omg it fits so perfectly
Yeah lol
lol
😭😭😭
Im surprised how no one is saying that the melody sounds a lot like the last great american dynasty. I love this so muchhh
Especially the beginning
It doesn't to me
That’s the first song I thought of! particularly the intro sounds pretty similar!
Was scrolling through the comments if anyone heard the intro as well.
YESSS
this song is definitely about the 2016 kanye/kim drama. "long story short, it was a bad time." and the lyric, "long story short i survived" told that she survived and is past all the drama. there are also some lyrics about joe. "and hes passing by, rare as the glitter of a comet in the sky." this song tells a really cool story.
also, "you passed right by, i was in the alley surrounded on all sides" the you is joe, and the surrounded on all sides is about all the drama and media treating her badly. im so happy for taylor that she moved on and found someone that treats her well
Things we never got from Taylor Swift:
1- A bad song
not when superman exists lol
@@Lanerusher why, i love superman🥺
Bad blood and Me!
cardigan
@@emilygrac3 Cardigan is my favorite from Folklore.
*Taylor : “long story short I survi-ved”*
*Me : shivers, everywhere, my whole body*
SAMEE! that little “ I survi..vied “ gets me every time! 😭😂✌️
@@sophievandercook6826 ikr!!
Not me getting 300+ likes 😲🥺😻
That’s from the folklore documentary
@@monicamilian7188 yes 😅
*Long story short, Taylor Swift is the Music Industry.*
" I always felt I must look better in the rear view"
I HAVE A THEORY only for this line.
As they say, hindsight is 20/20 ^_^
This lyric really hits home to me.
I sort of agree but rather than her leaving I think people like leaving her (since when you drive away you can see her in the rear view).
You only realize what you've lost further down the road.
@@capp12249 I totally agree!!And also in ‘the archer’she wrote about people leaving her...‘easy they come, easy they go, I jump from the train ride off alone',‘Who could ever leave me darling but who could stay?'
beacuse they are always talking behind her back
2:52
*"Pushed from the precipice"*
*"Climbed right back up the cliff"*
*"Long story short, I survived"*
THIS.👏😭
Hate bandwagon to Reputation to lover to folklore to evermore to grammys and now to Brits
Long story short she survived ✨🖤
Everyone catches the folklore in Gold Rush.
But no one catches the evermore in Long Story Short
(We do not talk about the evermores in evermore ft. Bon Iver)
Wait why don't we talk about them??
Yeah why do we not? 😃
@@kawtharr If it's anything like me, I don't particularly care for the vocal collaborations she's done with male singers...
This reminds me of a mix of “the story of us” and “last great American dynasty”
And Call it What You Want
Yes yes yes
Ok but I LOVE how she uses the journal and cup of tea in the lyric video. Like as someone who journals a lot, it can be such a profound thing to write down how you've changed, how far you've come, your thoughts and feelings. This paired with her song about changing for the better and reflecting on her past relationships makes is mwah chefs kiss.
Although her birthday will be in next two days, she is giving us birthday presents (the whole album) instead. 😭
“Nemeses will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing” Kim and Kanye are getting a divorce.
Oh my gosh!!!kjjjjcfshnsks😱🤯🤯
She really predicts the future
😂
Karma is real
Mind=blown
She really said if you don’t wanna listen to my last few albums just listen to this song
Why? You didn't listen to her last few albums??? Why o why????
@@markjosephcayanan9504 noooo I did! I'm just saying she kind of summed them up in this song- hence the title of the song haha
I loved how she rhymed "it was a bad time" with "it was the wrong guy" and with "i survived" ..
Is it only me or anyone else having problems in choosing a favourite track?
They're all so beautiful 😭
Same here. It’s impossible to choose a favorite track.
Yes! It’s so hard. I think it’s safe to say that this one might be my favorite. But idk. Cowboy Like Me is also up there.
Long Story Short would be my no. 1 song that I fell in love instantly..
Choosing between champagne problems, tolerate it, cowboy like me and this pretty track long story short 🥺
this track is like the “the last great american dinasty” of evermore. the beat is soooo similar
love it
🇧🇷
Yeah I can hear it
my thoughts exactly
It feels like the beats from last great American dynasty and sweeter than fiction had a baby
YEEESSS EXACTLY
I'm proud of her she improves herself everytime even she is the best
deadass
I love what she does with her voice in this song. It's so unique...the quavering, girlish sound of it is amazing...
Who's here after her "nemesis defeated themselves before she got the chance to swing" (Kimye)
yes...just.... YES
Such a powerful line!🙌🏼
Everyone who dissed or hated Taylor had their karma served to them' Tayvodoo is real y'all
Karma is real
Listening to her low-key tone songs makes me feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere having fun alone. I love it.
Me: take engineering course
Taylor: Long story short, it was a bad choice lmao
oh the feels lol hahahaha
Hahahahahaha!!!
HAHAHAHA SO TRUE
Hahahha
Being an engineer is my dream tho!!!
Been a Swiftie since 2009, but I have to admit that I just recently "discovered" this song as I would normally skip it. "Pushed from the precipice, clung to the nearest lips, it was the wrong guy"....I think I've said this way too many times. Taylor is a lyrical genius and this song has some of her best lines. Now it's on repeat. 😅😄
History will never forgive u for skipping this song.
@@India_first-k6n😅
“now I just keep you warm” and “my waves meet your shore” ANYONE ELSE GETTING PEACE VIBES?? I AM NOT OKAY 🥺🥺🥰💗🙈💞😍💞💕🥺🥺
