Definitely!!! You can really feel the story, feel every line. Thing is I wish it wasn’t about a one night stand because it cheapens it. Maybe it should have been about just a random encounter where the narrator just pines away. Or an event where they meet each other or see each other from afar

I don't know who needs to hear this, but listen to the song. Listen to the pain for the "road not taken". In my almost 40 years of life I can tell you dear stranger, if you are lost, if you don't know which road to choose, listen to your instict. No glory or fame or "success" is real without your loved ones. No career is worth you to lose your humanity. Keep love close. I wish you all the best.
Why is no one talking about how this song is from the point of view of Dorothea 😶 Taylor said on Twitter that Dorothea is a girl who left her small town to chase her Hollywood dreams and came back for the holidays to rediscover an old flame.... EVERYTHING PERFECTLY FITS!! - especially the "I'll go back to L. A" part
@@brooklyn.d2390 I saw some people talking about it, but I don’t think so... anyway, everyone can have a different opinion about the meaning of each song
@@giovannaoliveira3375 yeah of course I just thought because some of the lyrics like "if you ever get tired of being known for people you know and I couple other lyrics seem like she's talking about a friend and welcoming her back to her side. But it's cool to think that certain songs connect and have diffrent sides of storys or visons
omg this is the song taylor was talking about on twitter when she said there's a song about a girl who left her hometown for pursuing her dreams in hollywood and then came back and reignited with an old flame. also i see you taylor, poetess queen, with the reference to the robert frost poem, "the road less taken"
I think Champagne problems is the first song, when she left her boyfriend to pursue her dreams and he wanted to marry her. Dorothea is maybe his point of view when he saw her on Television, and this is the third song when she came back home for holidays after couple years.
@@milenacucak4477 I totally had not thought of that. Champagne Problems is the first part of the story, she left him to pursue the dreams she thought were grander than what she left behind, and she believes he'll find someone whom he will be happy with since she's gone. Dorothea is him saying he'll always know who she really is and wondering if she ever thinks about all the things she left behind, specifically about him. Then Tis The Damn Season is her coming home to visit family, and seeing all that she left behind, specifically him, whom she realizes, she still has a flame somewhere deep down for, and she's asking him to be willing to let things just be as they used to be, but just for the weekend as she plans on returning to her new life, which she knows is full of fake friends and a nonstop chase for the next big thing, and she admits, it's her own heart she's breaking by her unwillingness to stay where she knows she could be truly safe, comfortable, understood, loved, etc.
the fact that Taylor released two albums when I'm going through the aftermath of my first breakup (after 6 years), it's a freaking blessing. The way she puts into words how the holiday season feels when you leave town and comeback, and reminisce about the comfort of that high school sweetheart relationship.

Fun story: When folklore was here I told my sister about it and this time, she told me that evermore was coming. So yeah, full circle. We watched together sitting in the blanket like last time with cardigan.
My sister cant come home bc she still afraid of covid but we chatted each other at the same time 2 mins before the willow mv release. The sister swiftie telepathy.
evermore isn't just an album, it’s a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world filled with thieves. It’s art, the first gift you open on Xmas, a hug from a loved one, everything you’ve ever wanted, everything you need.
i don’t think i’ll ever get over this song. the feeling of something that could’ve been, and second chances that didn’t quite happen, and leaving again with the heaviness of knowing you did this to yourself and have no one to blame, YOU chose to go, chose to break the heart of the one person who could make you happy and your own in the process, because you put fame over happiness. this song is like a yearning ache in your chest spreading through your whole body. it’s melancholic and bittersweet. a masterpiece.
sit with me under the willow love her so much ! 💜 btw i make videos on films! i recently made one on ‘Her’ and ‘Queens Gambit’! if you’re interested, please check it out! heart ❤️
Yikes! The most honest and vulnerable poetic line I’ve ever heard...”There is an ache in you put there by the ache in me.” Holy shit....nobody admits that.
"There's an ache in you put there by the ache in me" I can feel this sentence. such a beautiful poetic turn on the common phrase: "hurt people hurt people"
This song makes me think of back to december. Like “tis the damn season” again and oh “now im missing your smile”, “..your sweet smile. At back to december she’s full of regrets but now she’s like, hey “time flies..” “we can call it even” now.
most people don’t know that this song is from dorothea’s point of view. it’s just as intricate of a story as the folklore love triangle but no one talks about it.

I love how she says," it always leads to you and my hometown", twice at the end... As if she feels the need to reiterate just how much she is aware of the love she has been harbouring and no matter where she is, she'll always come back to him. It kind of reminds me of Aristotle and Dante, when the latter says that he loves swimming. Random but he repeats it again, casually throwing Ari too in the sentence this time as if he didn't just declare his feelings. "I love swimming--- And you."
Aristotle and Dante? Are those Ninja turtles? And I disagree. I think that she thinks of him when she comes back to a world that she left for a reason - she's an artist and a performer, and something about the hometown was chafing her. Yea, when you go home you wish you had someone, but in this song it's clear that she couldn't settle down...

" 'Tis the Damn Season" is a song about how the narrator is returning to her hometown during the holidays from L.A. She doesn't really like being alone and "cold" during the holidays. "Lingering like bad perfume" might refer to one of the previous holidays when she might have rudely left which made everyone feel bad. She can never fix that. Which is why the boy seems to be "cold" towards her. She says that she'll never ask who the boy is with while she's in LA or somewhere else. So she strikes a deal with the boy she liked since school, that they could pretend to date during the holidays. They could take the road (or decision) they had never taken. She says that she'll never ask him to wait if he doesn't want her to stay. After the holidays, she can go back to LA, to her "so-called" friends, who'll write about her, if she can ever make a name for herself, while she longs for the boy who can tell is she's faking a smile. She's saying that she's only breaking her own heart by staying away from him. By saying that everything leads back to her hometown and him, she's saying that the boy feels like her "home" too. Love you Taylor ♥
i think the same! i feel like dorothea and the guy must have been close since they were kids, but dorothea to pursue her career left town without telling him or something on christmas eve or christmas morning, and she left without telling not because the guy was unsupportive of her following her dream but because the deal she had struck, wutever record or something, it was not what she really liked, like it might be a cringey pop record deal where she didnt write her own songs, while her main thing was writing songs or something like that. so when the offer for the deal came the guy sensed that this was not the path truly meant for her and she deserved much more so she should not sign up for the deal, and disapproved of it. while she wanted to cus idk maybe she felt it was her only chance(low self confidence and stuff), and she was considering not signing up for the record and they were getting romantic feelings involved, but then *something* happened between the girl and the guy and she got heartbroken and scared and she left on christmas morning without telling him to go pursue her career, but then he gos to her house to apologise on christmas morn and finds out shes at the airport and he goes after her to bring her back before she potentially ruins her career and signs up for something that isnt her true passion or whatever but shes already pretty much checking in so all he can do is stand there helpless and watch her leave... and theeennnn its the future nd some big scandal has happened in her career since shes a celebrity and all, so she has come back to her town as a slight break from the media and all to lie low in her hometown and then all the stuff u said happens.

Honestly, this song reminds me so much of a Hallmark movie, about the girl who left her small town and came home, especially the more emotional miracle of Christmas movies, but with such a poetic writing to it I love this song so much
Evermore I think has a trio, Champagne Problems where she leaves, Dorothea where he is saying he'll always be there if she ever needs someone real, and Tis' The Damn Season where she's home and realizes there's something still there between them, but it's complicated because of her life she's made in LA, even though deep down she knows it's a life filled with phony people.
Kyle Storsin that could be true! Especially how in Champagne Problems she mentions his “hometown skeptics called it” and in Tis’ The Damn Season she says it leads back to her hometown 👀 could be related??
@@briellechan1276 I personally definitely think so. He's willing to forget just how much she hurt him because there's a part of him that will always love her. She knows this, and deep down, there's a part of her, probably the truest part, that knows he will always love her and she still loves him to, because he's the only person whom really understands her and that could ultimately make her happy.

Also Tolerate It and Coney Island being from the guy's pov. In Tolerate It, the guy isn't making her a priority. In Coney Island, the guy admits to not making her his priority while also is aware of how much he hurts her.

Illicit Affairs lyric: “Put the perfume on the shelf, that you picked out just for him” Tis the Damn Season lyric: “The holiday lingers like bad perfume”
I think the girl who sings illicit affairs is the one sing this one. There is a line from the poem "road not taken" in each one and yes the perfume thing. I am thinking its August because in illicit affairs she was acting as a mistress to a guy who was cheating on his gf. So this must be in August's perspective. "It always leads to my hometown and you" also says about who much she misses this guy and how much she regrets it.

I think tis the damn season and illicit affairs are the same story of the same people. Too many shared mentions. It starts out in tis the season and ends in illicit affairs.
In my mind I see this song as college student going home for the holidays and seeing a high school flame he never got over. He’s trying to avoid seeing her but bond day she starts talking to him and the flame rekindles. They spend a night together and the song is him not being able to get her out of his head

its up there but not my favourite personally. my favourite is ivy!
Why is no one talking about how this song is from the point of view of Dorothea 😶
Taylor said on Twitter that Dorothea is a girl who left her small town to chase her Hollywood dreams and came back for the holidays to rediscover an old flame....
EVERYTHING PERFECTLY FITS!! - especially the "I'll go back to L. A" part
After this theory "so called friends who'll write books about me if i ever make it" hurts more
So is Dorothea Selena?

also i see you taylor, poetess queen, with the reference to the robert frost poem, "the road less taken"
yYES!!
She's Dorothea, isn't she?
Yes!!!
Then Tis The Damn Season is her coming home to visit family, and seeing all that she left behind, specifically him, whom she realizes, she still has a flame somewhere deep down for, and she's asking him to be willing to let things just be as they used to be, but just for the weekend as she plans on returning to her new life, which she knows is full of fake friends and a nonstop chase for the next big thing, and she admits, it's her own heart she's breaking by her unwillingness to stay where she knows she could be truly safe, comfortable, understood, loved, etc.

the fact that Taylor released two albums when I'm going through the aftermath of my first breakup (after 6 years), it's a freaking blessing. i don’t think i’ll ever get over this song. the feeling of something that could’ve been, and second chances that didn’t quite happen, and leaving again with the heaviness of knowing you did this to yourself and have no one to blame, YOU chose to go, chose to break the heart of the one person who could make you happy and your own in the process, because you put fame over happiness. this song is like a yearning ache in your chest spreading through your whole body. it’s melancholic and bittersweet. a masterpiece.

This is the most perfect thing I've read today.
I jusr know that you’re a writer op
Thanks, I needed one more thing to cry about today
Aristotle and Dante? Are those Ninja turtles? And I disagree. I think that she thinks of him when she comes back to a world that she left for a reason - she's an artist and a performer, and something about the hometown was chafing her. Yea, when you go home you wish you had someone, but in this song it's clear that she couldn't settle down...

Facts
taylor's the big sister we all need right now 😭
" 'Tis the Damn Season" is a song about how the narrator is returning to her hometown during the holidays from L.A.
Thank you!
chills
the narrator is actually dorothea, the song 'dorothea' the narrator is the flirt she has in her hometown
i think the same! i feel like dorothea and the guy must have been close since they were kids, but dorothea to pursue her career left town without telling him or something on christmas eve or christmas morning, and she left without telling not because the guy was unsupportive of her following her dream but because the deal she had struck, wutever record or something, it was not what she really liked, like it might be a cringey pop record deal where she didnt write her own songs, while her main thing was writing songs or something like that. so when the offer for the deal came the guy sensed that this was not the path truly meant for her and she deserved much more so she should not sign up for the deal, and disapproved of it. while she wanted to cus idk maybe she felt it was her only chance(low self confidence and stuff), and she was considering not signing up for the record and they were getting romantic feelings involved, but then *something* happened between the girl and the guy and she got heartbroken and scared and she left on christmas morning without telling him to go pursue her career, but then he gos to her house to apologise on christmas morn and finds out shes at the airport and he goes after her to bring her back before she potentially ruins her career and signs up for something that isnt her true passion or whatever but shes already pretty much checking in so all he can do is stand there helpless and watch her leave... and theeennnn its the future nd some big scandal has happened in her career since shes a celebrity and all, so she has come back to her town as a slight break from the media and all to lie low in her hometown and then all the stuff u said happens.

Evermore: Tis' The Damn Season and Dorothea
I am thinking its August because in illicit affairs she was acting as a mistress to a guy who was cheating on his gf. So this must be in August's perspective.
