I still didn’t make what I make with Shipt, calmly shopping an order, dropping it off and going back to the same store for my next shop. Can someone explain the appeal?🤷♂️
In most areas of the country, none of these apps are appealing on their own. Instacart and Spark seem to be way more profitable for delivering groceries. Shipt's pay model looks like shit to me lol. Your tips must be huge...
DD is pissing me off lately with the oversaturation. They have $2-3 peak pay almost every night in my zone, so nobody except top clowns and newbies can even get orders.
Top dasher isnt a very good program. It completely removes the idea of “independent contractor”. I could understand it if we were receiving a minimal wage or better base pay that made sense. Top dasher should be an additional incentive for peak pay and streaks advantages. The higher your acceptance rate, the higher your peak pay and streaks are when they are active. Contractors need better laws to defend us.
We don't need better laws... we need to make better decisions. If you've done more a few shop and pay orders, you already know what to expect when you accept/decline the next one... right? I need an obscene payout to even consider shopping for someone I don't know. Even then, I have a two item rule. One of the first two items is out of stock or just too hard to find, or just too stupidly obscure... unassign order. I let someone else figure it out. If a customer wants some major brand, heavily stocked products... no worries. If they want me to pick their produce, find a filet mignon at a particular weight, or wander every aisle in the store until I figure out where the Kombucha section is only the find out that Pomegranate-pineapple is not in stock... those customers will instantly become some other driver's business. I drop those orders like a hot rock.

I remember when you started your experiment of getting above 70%, you mentioned part of it was about preparing for the pilot “tier” reward system coming your way at some point (for example, large orders only available to platinum dashers). There’s also “dash anytime” vs scheduling, which is an important factor in my area. But I can definitely understand holding off when you’re still getting large orders at 5% and scheduling isn’t an issue for you. Thanks for your videos! I enjoy them!
Yeah it was always an experiment. I realized I could do it without losing too much money, so if the new program ever comes my way, I'll be prepared for it
I'm in Canada and 2 years ago I did 1076 trips for Uber Eats and only 2 orders for DoorDash. I accepted the two DD orders and went to the first restaurant and they were only just opening, then there was no way for me to note this on the app and I had to creatively get them both done somehow. The app just wasn't responding. I know I messaged the first order and let her know the restaurant was still getting it ready and then just went back after I'd picked up the second order and wrote down everything on a pad of paper. I never took another DD order after that! The Uber app was a lot more failsafe and user friendly (intuitive) - it essentially tells you what to do each step of the way, where as the DD app, kind of leaves it up to you to manage if you get multiple orders.
$4.50 is "high pay" according to DD. Drivers can't quit DoorTrash soon enough! They are known thieves that have stolen driver pay. For God's sake QUIT DOORDASH!

It’s simple. Being a top dasher is a must if you live in a small town like I do. In busy cities it really doesn’t matter but out here you’re sitting all day with an acceptance rate under 70%. I have 14k deliveries so I’m no rookie!
This is true...Sitting and waiting is boring ( I think DD knows this and takes advantage) but waiting is still better than working for free or below minimum wage while using your car, gas etc.....Gig apps don't care or pay for a high mileage depreciated car....In the end we are all stuck with "that bill" @@PhoenixDeliveries

How do you NOT have accidents DAILY ? Post Pandemic people drive like a-holes EVERYWHERE (It's 1000 times worse in NYC and the OUTSKIRTS of any BIG CITY). If I had to do this ; I'd want to be doing it in the Carolinas or the south. How do you NOT get red light camera tickets DAILY ? And ; when you bring your car in for inspection; Is there like a LONG list of things you need done because you've been doing so much driving ?? And what about NO PARKING ANYWHERE to pick up food ??? And what happens if the delivered food is COLD ? Do you get in trouble ???? McDonalds gets cold VERY VERY fast! And it's INEDIBLE when microwaved!!
The most annoying thing to Me is the ''hand it to me'' customers and the slimy games they play to try to get refunds and free food!! These types of customers are smart enough to know that once the delivery is set to ''hand it to me'' it eliminates any real chnce to include photos, but what I'll do is when I get a ''hand it to me customer'' I'll text them the order status the whole way up until I make the drop, and when I get out and give them their order, I automatically snap the pic of them getting the product...funny thing is, most times the customers will say ''thanks'' and try to walk off before I can do it
In my opinion, it you are grinding out percentages, go by the hour instead of by offers, that way it will get you more $ especially if you got to wait a while for orders... at that point - youre compensating for no tippers

Great work on your channel with the pros and cons of DD. Im on UE much more, they are market and not hot spot and AR crazy. Plus the clientele tips 90% of the time. Keep on hustling and keep your head up! 😊
I'd be happy to test out Platinum Dasher for the RUclips channel, but I think I'd probably make more money without it as long as I relied heavily on Uber Eats
@@PhoenixDeliveries I’m guessing there would be no more DD for you in that case, ;-). But that can be a part of the experiment too. What does it mean to use the DD app when in the lowest tier. This just happened to me, right when I had previously tanked my AR. Had to raise it from 18% to above 70, Wasn’t fun. Would imagine the tier program will be nationwide soon. They send a email about 2 weeks prior, which was ample time to increase stats. Don’t know if I can keep my stats up, but luckily Uber is really solid out here, especially when you know how to activate the queue, I usually get equivalent to Large order program orders on Uber often as part of stacks on days I give it more of my time…

Ouch. Not in my area yet, but I’m trying to prepare for it. Last time I checked, the tier program had greatly expanded since checking several weeks before. Gulp!

As soon as that system came to my area on the first day I saw an immediate change with orders. Are used to make 200 to 300 a day in about 8 to 10 hours now I can’t even make 200 a day. @@PhoenixDeliveries Has DD ever pulled back a program they implemented? I doubt it. I bet once the Tier program rolls out there will be no going back. I probably won't be able to dash without the early schedule. Was the Diamond program a failure? It must have been, since they are replacing it with the Tier program. Seems like when a program fails, they just replace it one that is more draconian.
.. . Here is why I agree with this video. On average, most drivers on Uber deliver about three deliveries an hour which take between 15 to 20 minutes for each delivery. Sometimes you can piggy back two or three orders at a time, but not always. That means EVERYTHING would have to go perfectly every hour you work on a FLAT hourly rate so that your 18 dollars on UBer in New York or 20 in Florida, etc, becomes worth while for Uber (not you). That means that in three trips per hour Uber pays you about 6 dollars per trip in New York. But, here is the problem with that algorithm. Anyone that has ever driven for Uber for a few days can tell you that a lot of trips take 20 to 25 minutes to drive to the restaurant, wait for the restaurant to give you the food. Then, you have to stop at red lights. Then, if the distance is over two miles, it will take you a while to deliver the food. Then, as this video says, if there is heavy traffic or it is snowing or raining hard you have to drive slower because you don't want to be in an accident or hurt someone else just so that you can deliver a snack to Timmy 3 to 4 miles away. In other words, there is no room for error or delay of any kind with this ludicrous FLAT rate option. Many drivers will also be undermined because the FLAT rate drivers will get much more trips as their rating goes up for accepting semi forced dangerous trips to bad neighborhoods and to very far safe neighborhoods. So, if you are more of a local driver that only drives within a couple of miles of where you are, you won't get as many offers as before because they now have slaves that HAVE to go wherever Uber says or you may be de-activated or your rating will go down. I suggest also to stay away from FLAT rate salary so that at least you can continue to be your own boss due to the aforementioned trap falls and because Uber does not pay your gas or car depreciation and repairs when forced to drive quicker, to dangerous areas and unpredictable probable delay scenarios !!! One last thing. I see these apps eventually most probably taking your tips and not letting you know. They could block you from seeing if you got tipped after the delivery and show the tip only to a percentage of drivers so it seems they are giving up the tips to the drivers. But, it's very probable they keep most of the tips to make up for the increase in salary. I do think there will be a lawsuit in the future against these apps. It's gonna get really bad for the drivers really fast. Drivers don't realize how they will play with your money. You will see. They will de-activate you a lot more and not give you as many orders and freeze your money. So, transfer your pay at the end of every day in case they freeze your funds. You will see. Screen shoot this comment from today December 12, 2023.
Glad you learned. I've been doing it since 2019. I do select orders and decline lots. With the new algorithm it seems like as long as you are in the 50% range you still get the big orders but maybe not as frequently if there are a bunch of top dashers in your area. I constantly multi-app and have 2 to 6 orders onboard at most given times.
I don't think people can really be angry with DoorDash simply because they are literally just taking advantage of the broken capitalist systems surrounding restaurants. At least in my area, restaurants pay servers like $4 an hour and expect customers to actually sustain employee salaries with tips. The saddest part is that dashers actually make less than the majority of servers simply due to factoring in mileage, vehicle maintenance, and unpredictability. It's a really disgusting and unethical system but that's why I do it purely as a side hustle for 10 hours a week. I can't imagine doing this full time like a lot of others, I've had weeks where I've made $200, and other weeks where I've made $100 with literally no difference in shifts, time worked, or market.
How would you say you get these large orders? Just work more and once you finally get one they'll send you more? I don't think I've got one yet. Do you have to buy one of their catering bags with your personal code so they know you bought one? I think you were saying that in another video. Or that may have been another gig tuber.
I have a video on my channel that talks about this. Just search my name and then "large order program" and you'll learn the requirements for the program and everything else
Once you get in the LOP are there any minimum requirements to stay in the program ? It doesn't make sense that low AR cherry pickers are still given those orders.
Yes "Requirement 1: Quality Eligibility Criteria: you must meet the criteria below (measured as of the most recent full month). 200+ lifetime deliveries 100+ deliveries in the past month 4.7+ average star rating in the past month 95%+ completion rate in the past month Note: To remain eligible for this program, you must continue to meet these criteria after you are enrolled in this program. Eligibility criteria are subject to change. Requirement 2: Equipment: you need to have a standard catering bag You’ll need to confirm that you have the equipment to complete these high-value orders. See more details for catering bag standards below"
DoorDash says you have to maintain the same standards as you did to be approved for the program every month at the end of the month if you don't have the new rewards program
I will get “top priority “ and still don’t get orders. So to compare my friend does UE so we drove together and he was getting orders hand over fist! You don’t even have to decline to loose in algorithm..just ignoring it will! I’ve been sent 45 min across town on a 2.40 order! Arrrrrrg

When I get a bad order I pause for five minutes. Orders are better after the pause for some reason. I've been able to keep my AR high in this way. Also as a top Dasher I only sign in when the area shows red. If things slow down I know the area has gone gray and I end the dash until it is red again. So far, so good.
And ive been at 5 percent b4 the worst actually i think 30% u get nothing but nickels and dimes I promise you have to just work that day dont look at the money just put your time in
Also, somethings, DoorDash will no longer put the plus by an amount and it turns out it’s a large dollar amount. I don’t know why they just don’t be transparent with the full amount.
When you get the rewards program are you going to go back to maintaining 70%? As annoying as it will be when the day comes I'd imagine with as much money as catering orders pay it'll be worth it for you to stay at 70%.
I'd definitely go back to 70% to make videos about it, but it would definitely be a downgrade for me to go back to Top Dasher just to get catering orders. Uber Eats might be the way to go if the rewards program comes to my city

The biggest issue with DoorDash (at least in my area) is that you have to be a top dasher to have access to "Dash Now". Otherwise you have to schedule dashing which is shit.
That’s the only benefit to top dasher. But it’s not worth not making enough money by accepting orders just to get there. A two dollar order takes as long to deliver as a $10 order, so never take a two dollar order.
For those who need dash now, I think cherry pick all month followed by one week of earn by time is a decent strategy. I find it hard to believe we can be independent contractors that have to schedule ahead of time. But that is another video…
Also, kudos for mentioning large order program. Whether or not you have it is a key piece of information for making your own decision for what is best for you.
Nor do we have any decision making, they force you to take orders otherwise penalize you for it where you get less money. They drive you out somewhere out of your service area and do not pay for your way back, or if you don't want to take a 7 dollar order that will take up 40 minutes of your time and it's not financially suitable for you your impacted by it. That's not an independent contracting, it seems like I'm employed by them.

Now imagine being an Instacart worker and seeing $4-6 dollar orders! Not only will that NOT cover your gas, but you're gonna have to spend 30mins or more shopping etc.. and if anything is on sale or out of stock, part of your tip is now stolen back as well..

I realized I could do it without losing too much money, so if the new program ever comes my way, I'll be prepared for it
Only good thing about top dasher is being able to dash anytime, or just do UBEREATS and work anytime with a10% acceptance
Dash anytime is a solid perk, but I've been scheduling myself 6 days in advance and that has been working out pretty well
@@PhoenixDeliveries That will also go away if you are under 50% AR in the tiered program
@@vikings7683 Is the tier program in you area? I want to know if you can still schedule 5 days out with the tier system.
Being a top Dasher is pointless.
Honestly I feel like being a top dasher is forcing to take so many bad orders
Yeah too many bad orders for me
Yup
You should have to keep top dasher to get catering orders
You have to in tier program
But if I don't have Top Dasher and still get catering orders I can make more money. So this strategy is the best for me

$4.50 is "high pay" according to DD. Drivers can't quit DoorTrash soon enough! They are known thieves that have stolen driver pay. For God's sake QUIT DOORDASH!

It is unfortunately necessary for me. I need that flexibility of being able to dash when I want due to my schedule.
It’s simple. Being a top dasher is a must if you live in a small town like I do. In busy cities it really doesn’t matter but out here you’re sitting all day with an acceptance rate under 70%.
I have 14k deliveries so I’m no rookie!
That makes a lot of sense. Sitting without any orders is the worst especially when you know Top Dashers are busy delivering

But at home in Hemet if your not td your fucked.
All from personal experience
You drive all the way to OC from Hemet to do DD?
Do you multi app?
Thank you for this video, I'm a new dasher and love it. I'm trying to work hard to maintain top dasher, because I'm afraid I won't make 1200 to 1500 a month. I'm an Herbalife Distributor and doing Doordash for extra income. I don't want to multi app.
Six hours of DoorDash Ing and I made seven dollars. Unbelievable June 1 was a total disaster. The orders were all coming in for two dollars. I had several orders coming in for three dollars and that’s it. The last order came in for seven dollars. I took it and I logged out I’m done June 1 worst most horrible day I can ever remember in delivering crap $7.06 hours 70 miles
Great work on your channel with the pros and cons of DD. Im on UE much more, they are market and not hot spot and AR crazy. Plus the clientele tips 90% of the time. Keep on hustling and keep your head up! 😊
What’s your thoughts on if the tier program comes to your town? You won’t get LOP unless you’re over 70%.
I'd be happy to test out Platinum Dasher for the RUclips channel, but I think I'd probably make more money without it as long as I relied heavily on Uber Eats
As long as you cannot be penalized for your acceptance rate, I would just keep cherry picking until the cows came home! 😂😂😂
I'm at 80% acceptance rate. Highest paying orders I'm seeing average around $6 Dollars
You better hope the tier program dosen't come to your area.. you'll have to be 70% for LOP
Lol I know. I'm kinda scared for when that happens. Uber Eats would probably always be my #1 app if that happens
@@PhoenixDeliveries I’m guessing there would be no more DD for you in that case, ;-).
But that can be a part of the experiment too. What does it mean to use the DD app when in the lowest tier. Is it still helpful to use at all?

This just happened to me, right when I had previously tanked my AR. Had to raise it from 18% to above 70, Wasn’t fun. Would imagine the tier program will be nationwide soon. They send a email about 2 weeks prior, which was ample time to increase stats. What are you going to do when the new teir program comes out there. You will not have access to large orders when that program starts with a low AR. I'm currently trying to get my AR back up because the tier program just came here and I have not seen any large orders anymore.
Ouch. Not in my area yet, but I’m trying to prepare for it. Last time I checked, the tier program had greatly expanded since checking several weeks before. Gulp!
@@lgrinaker Yes it really sucks I have been in the large order program for over two years and always was getting Bangerz back to back. Now I get none. My AR is currently at 53% so I’m trying to get it up to 70 because that’s the only way they will allow you back in the road large order program with that tier system. As soon as that system came to my area on the first day I saw an immediate change with orders. Are used to make 200 to 300 a day in about 8 to 10 hours now I can’t even make 200 a day. I only make 150 in about eight hours and that’s struggling real bad for me. I haven’t seen a $200 day in over a week and a half and all I do is DoorDash my Uber got deactivated

I probably won't be able to dash without the early schedule.
Was the Diamond program a failure? It must have been, since they are replacing it with the Tier program. Seems like when a program fails, they just replace it one that is more draconian.
Yeah, man, I gave up caring about a high acceptance rate. Way too many upside down orders. Not taking that BS.

Brave decision. If the tier program comes to AZ it’s goodbye LOP!
Don't turn down shop and deliver. The money is always above average.
How many decline to 1% compared to how many Accepted to 1% ?
Acceptance rate is based off of your last 100 offers sent to your phone
Doing this as a side hustle is the best way to go
Keeping it real awesome
I'll always try to do my best at sharing my true experiences
How would you say you get these large orders? Just work more and once you finally get one they'll send you more? I don't think I've got one yet. Do you have to buy one of their catering bags with your personal code so they know you bought one? I think you were saying that in another video. Or that may have been another gig tuber.

I believe you accept 94 out 100 orders they send you
Your taking some garbage at 94%
Once you get in the LOP are there any minimum requirements to stay in the program ? It doesn't make sense that low AR cherry pickers are still given those orders.
Yes
"Requirement 1: Quality Eligibility Criteria: you must meet the criteria below (measured as of the most recent full month).
200+ lifetime deliveries
100+ deliveries in the past month
4.7+ average star rating in the past month
95%+ completion rate in the past month
Note: To remain eligible for this program, you must continue to meet these criteria after you are enrolled in this program. Eligibility criteria are subject to change.
Requirement 2: Equipment: you need to have a standard catering bag
You’ll need to confirm that you have the equipment to complete these high-value orders. See more details for catering bag standards below"
DoorDash says you have to maintain the same standards as you did to be approved for the program every month at the end of the month if you don't have the new rewards program
Quick question how do you get into the program that allows you to take catering orders ?
You get a invitation

Yes, I might still be in the diamond program if it weren't for the large orders I received
