Just look how detailed USM 2 was way back in 1996 and some of these features even Football Manager still doesn't have. It is crazy how underrated this game was.
Yes, this was the hallmark of the USM series; it included every feature you could think of. None of the features were the deepest in existence but it had everything!
Played USM 98 for years in my youth loved it. Never played another football management game after that. Never used to replay games and took Greenock Morton to the Champions League final and lost, so many great memories. Only reason I stopped playing was that the game crashed after playing about 10 seasons with one team. The music as well so epic the most repetitive but inspiring guitar solo continuously playing for hours and hours.

Wow, that game was a banger for its time! As a Bulgarian, I really got into it to even get a Hex Editor and edit the whole German league teams and players with Bulgarian teams, and personal names, so basically I changed the German league to Bulgarian league! Is was interesting that once you change the German players names, for future seasons it would generate new players with the Bulgarian names, which made it very realistic! German league had the same structure as the Bulgarian league, 1st, 2nd, and 4 regional 3rd divisions! Cheers!
When it generates a new player name, it just takes a random first name of that nationality + a random surname. So if you changed all the Germans to Bulgarians, that's why the regen players would have Bulgarian names. Sometimes the nationality of a player in the game would be wrong, with hilarious results
I loved usm2 and 98. But today when I'm replaying 98/99 there are some major issues. 1) when I watch match there are almost no events. Very few goals (usually 0-0 or 1-0), cards a d injuries. But when I simulator the match, there are always tons of goals and events. So, already there, the game is sort of unplayable, because it doesn't make sense. 2) when taking a lower tier team to the top leagues, the match attendances don't improve. So a premiership team with 40k capacity will be stuck with their 3. Division attendances of 5-6000 per match, making it impossible to finance your team in a natural way. A shame, since it happens every time, no matter which team or league used. Maybe there is a version with a patch?
I still play USM2! Got the original boxes for USM and 2 in the loft. Wish the series carried on. Preferred this to All the other Football Manager games. Great video. 👍🏻
I have it on my list and it is a possibility for the future. My initial idea was to shine a light on the games that were less talked about so I have put the sensis and kick offs on the back burner. I think it could help the channel grow though and I have many of ancos games so I am seriously considering doing anco!

For some odd reason I started the first ever championship manager as Barnet and since then I've often used them! Since I am Swedish I had no relation to any of the lower league English clubs anyway!
I think you misunderstand why USM 98 99 is the goat for manager sims. You missed a lot of factors. Champ manager 01 02 is a close 2nd then the first football manager 2006? I think.

I'm not sure those issues where patched but there used to be fansites with lots of stuff. Maybe something can be dug up through the Wayback Machine
