- Pokemon Xmas Special - "Holiday Hi-Jynx"
After this episode originally aired, there was a big controversy over whether or not the Pokemon Jynx, as well as characters like Mr. Popo in DBZ, was an example of blackface.
As a result not only was "Holiday Hi-Jynx" banned from airing in the USA, but so were all subsequent Pokemon episodes where Jynx makes a cameo appearance.
In response, Jynx's design would be adjusted, and the Pokemon is now colored purple. However, regardless of the redesign, Jynx has never returned to air in the USA.
Hello friends, unfortunately, I need to *put the series on haitus* again.
Things are heating up at work and I've completed exhausted my buffer. This may be a fair bit longer than the last one.

Ah, yes. The Christmas episode. This one raises a lot of questions.
Was Santa’s origin the same here as it was in our world?
Does Santa have elves, or does he use Delibirds and Jynx?
Was Santa originally a Delibird that Arceus evolved into a human?
Why does Yes (the Lapras) have telepathic abilities?
With Christmas being regarded as a real thing, does this mean Christianity happened here?
Does Mr. Popo just have contracts with Santa for more bitches? (TFS fans will understand this)
Why does Santa live in the Fortress of Solitude?
Perhaps most importantly, why was the Jynx so far from Santa’s workshop when it was polishing Santa’s boot? And why only one?
These questions and more will… probably never be answered in the anime.
I remember this Pokémon Chrimbo special. I watched it on Sky 1 (now Sky Showcase) about few times as a kid.
I've heard this Pokémon episode is banned in America 🇺🇸 because of the original colour of a female-only humanoid Pokémon's face as she is considered to be racist. She probably has been offended many African-Americans in the USA.
America 🇺🇸 is not the country where this Pokémon episode is banned but it is also banned in South Korea 🇰🇷 and India 🇮🇳.
Its original Japanese air date was 5th October 1998. That is way too early to broadcast any Christmas special TV episodes during the month of October and Halloween falls in this month as we know.
Maybe it is banned on air in India but o recently saw this on Jio app in India. Not dubbed to Hindi but in English

The banned episodes that were dubbed all aired at least once prior to being banned.
Generally, an episode only gets banned after it gets sufficient public outrage, which in this case was based on concerns that Jynx's design was inspired by blackface. (See description for more details)
If there is Santa does Jesus exist? Then how is Arceus later on explained??

A critic named Carol Boston Weatherford (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carole_Boston_Weatherford ) alleged that Jynx 's design (as well as Mr. Popo from DBZ) was based on blackface minstrels.
This kicked off a big controversy which resulted in the episode being permanently removed from television and republication.
In response, Game Freak would recolor Jynx from black to purple, but despite the change in design, this episode would remain banned in the USA as well as every subsequent episode featuring a cameo from Jynx.
