This was so uncomfortable, and that wasn't because of Jimmy... It was the way Hila and Ethan treated him. They were rude and professional to the guy, even if his content is a bit extreme (which I really don't find it that bad). They owe him an apology... Especially if he went back and watched what they said behind his back. Not cool h3h3, you're better than this.
Ve Mo they don’t owe him anything, the guy should have asked them before bringing someone on their show he was a guest and that’s rude as hell to show up with other people especially a cameraman that’s filming in their studio. Also how frustrating to try and ask this guy questions and he won’t answer instead he just throws out cringed unfunny jokes. Technically it’s their show and if they feel it’s not going well they can do whatever they want.
And of the 50 or so podcasts to date, how many have been "co-cast" like that?

You guys saying Ethan and Hila were rude to Jimmy should watch the unedited version on Twitch. Jimmy was super rude and made some super inappropriate comments throughout the entire thing. Made fun of Hila's intelligence, Ethan's Tourette's syndrome, etc. they were super uncomfortable and it was just a bad podcast due to the guest. We know the H3 crew and how kind and accepting they are of their guests (SoFlo, Joey Salads, etc), but they don't accept shitty behavior and don't want that to reflect the future of their podcast.

They didn't even prepare a real interview for him. They assumed he would act like an ass the entire time, but he actually took it seriously at the beginning until Ethan prompted him to roast him which unleashed the beast. They brought it upon themselves and then to go on and act condescendingly towards him is too low and fake af. This shed a new light on Ethan and especially Hila for me
They had the same kind of interview questions for him as they do all their guests though. And what do you mean he was taking it seriously until Ethan asked him to roast him? They couldn't even get him to answer the question "how are you" without him trying to turn it into an unfunny bit.

For everyone who's confused they invited him and I think it took them off guard that he brought camera men to film the whole thing and Jimmie wouldn't drop the character to be real since we never see the real Jimmie in his videos, the whole thing was uncontrollable for them because they're used to everything being a little bit more personal (person to person) not (character to person) and also it's the first time they invite someone and they bring people to film it. But they always say they're still learning and they want this podcast to become better and better, this is just a learning experience so don't be too harsh on them.

sean mcd Idk to me he did drop character a couple of times but most of the time it was him being a character (I watched the raw unedited version live on twitch) so idk..but I feel like Ethan asked him to roast him to try and lighten up the mood since it was tense having people filming and having the podcast not go as planned because I think he really expected the raw non-character Jimmie.
To give an example of the person to person rather than character to person/character, when Erik is on the podcast we don't see him as Big Money Salvia, but just as Erik. Imagine Erik talking to Martin Shkreli as he did during the "Martin Shkreli: Getting in the middle of it". He wasn't just screaming boy sandwich (different video but still Erik to Shkreli), but instead bringing up the jokes as a discussion point to learn more about Martin as a person and his insight. Jimmy is just making jokes the entire podcast instead of explaining the persona behind "One fucked up dentist" as Jimmy Lee

First time I’ve ever seen Ethan and hila kick someone off the podcast...that was so awkward seeing them try to keep it civil

I think he meant well but just has absolutely zero self-awareness and fully believes that his jokes are funny. I don't think the issue is with him being offensive but rather having no real humour to accompany it which will easily be perceived as tactless and disrespectful. I think he also isn't aware that his jokes won't bounce off of all the recipients in the same way. Not everybody knows or has the right kind of character to respond to his kind of jokes. I reckon Ethan and Hila were just not expecting him to behave in this kind of way. I think they were expecting to be able to take him a lot more seriously and for them all to be on the same level to be able to conduct the session as they always do. I think that's why this episode seems to lack direction. They were trying to progress the discussion in the way they are used to but Jimmie didn't show the right kind of cooperation that they began to get irritated, hence a large portion of the interview turning into them repeatedly saying, 'yeah but don't you think that's rude,' to whatever Jimmie may be trying to explain which began to seem dismissive and rude on their part.
Humor is subjective, don't say someone isn't funny just because you don't find it funny.

I doubt everyone has responded to Ethan's humour as hugely funny every time, I'm a big fan of h3 but I've got a lot of friends who don't really get the joke and find him too cringey to watch. I don't really find dentist funny besides the fact his humour reminds me of my grandparents one liners, but at the same time you can't say comedy is subjective and then just rip on his quotes all podcast, it seemed like Ethan just decided at points to just take a hostile stance to everything he was saying. Ethan's probably rocked up to parties or socials wearing socks and sandals and one or two people probably just thought he was retarded and trying to hard to be funny, that's what all comedians go through. Tbh I'll defend dentist in saying that he's probably more aware than you think, I know guys that make un funny or offensive shit and they know that nobody likes it but they just keep going, that same guy asked out every girl in my school getting rejected by all, but still, one or two said yes.
My point is I think he knows what's wrong and is aware when a joke doesn't work, he just doesn't correct it I think his personality is similar to the anecdote in that he just prefers to dig the hole deeper and keep the jokes rolling like when he made that comment at the toilet break about the "serious/ funny routine I think we're pulling it off".

I think the reason why this podcast went so wrong was because Ethan and Hila we're expecting Jimmie to be a bad person like Soflo or Jake Paul, so they had the videos ready to question him to see if he thought his jokes crossed the line. What happened was that Jimmie turned out to be a great guy who just wants to entertain people, but Ethan and Hila were prepared to try to get Jimmie to see how offensive his content was while Jimmie was just trying to entertain people. However, I don't think this really changes my opinion of h3h3, I just think that they should have tried to tone it down with the "jabbing" on Jmie especially after he explained why he did comedy in the first place.

At 23:00 he was being serious and honest for a bit, than Ethan ask him to roast them after he was out of his persona, which you can see that threw him off guard. I feel like too many people are hating on him, about not breaking character because he did, but Ethan encouraged him to go back into character.

This was a very uncomfortable podcast. If you think this edited version was bad, look at the full version on the Twitch video itsef. It took them forever to set up. The first 30 minutes was nothing but to get the show going. The after show Ethan, Hila, and Dan did a review of how it went. They tried the best they can to not devulge in details. But Ethan did say the show was the worst ever. Just look at Hila even on this version of the show. She had that fake, uncomfortable smile the whole time.
In all honesty Hila just sits there in all videos and podcasts, without saying a word, and when she does say something, it's usually something cringy as fuck. I understand she is shy of the camera but they are doing videos for 5 years or more and she's still there just to be there, at least Ethan is a funny goofball sometimes, but I agree that this was a shit podcast and Ethan getting offended by Jimmy cause he calls black people black it's fuckin retarded.

When you are camera shy it feels like being starred by the camera, it feels awful. Here's my take on it.
I doubt that was her intention, but you can't deny that the podcast first became awkwardly condescending toward Jimmie almost immediately after Hila spoke about the camera guy.
I'm just saying, there are more professional ways to handle an awkward situation then to tell your guest to leave the podcast he was invited to (for going into character because you asked him to), and go on to say shit like "I kind of hoped that this wouldn't have worked out" and "We should've brought our cringe suits" after he leaves.
You knew exactly what you were getting into, having even met Jimmie back in the day. His gimmick is blatantly offensive humor. You asked for his gimmick on your podcast, in the middle of a serious conversation. If you watched this entire video rather than clicking the spicy timestamps, I'm not sure how you can call him an asshole. It's a shame he was shown the door right when he started to open up.
The remainder of the podcast is just Ethan 'joking' about Arabs and Chinese merely a half hour after criticizing Jimmie for 'joking' about fat people and poor people. Don't act like Ethan was any better than Jimmie just because he got laughs instead of shuns.

Well, this time they were live, in a different setting, and Jimmie went overboard when he brought the cameraman. Also, the wording and context was important. When Jimmie was talking, he was talking about one specific person he knew nothing about, making it more personal. When Ethan made jokes, the context was about an actual problem in Saudi Arabia, and he wasn't really making fun of China, he was making fun of a small group of people in it (they also came to the conclusion that both China and the US are weird).

I think Ethan and Hila managed to get the real Jimmie out towards the beginning of the show but when Ethan invited him to roast them, it all went downhill from there. I actually thought Jimmie was quite interesting but his sense of humour is crude and over the line which makes some sense, considering his age. Yes, most of what he does is offensive but underneath, he's just an insecure old guy who wants to do something in his life now his business is basically sorted and done and he has the money to do what he really wanted to do.
