    Did say after your last video ,it’s NOT white rot in your soil:It’s mycelium (good fungi)WHITE ROT IS NOT VISIBLE IN SOIL . It only shows on roots/ base of alliums in June onwards when temperature is warmer. Your garlic is fine 😀

      ive got it in some of my soil and i havent got anything growing yet .i looked it up and it doesnt seem to be rot at all . does emma read comments on here or just instagram

    • @markhildred2456
      @markhildred2456 5 дней назад

      Indeed. In fact white rot only germinates and spreads when soil temperature is 10 degrees or more , which seems unlikely in the UK in Jan

    Looks like good mycelium to me that helps crops grow not white rot . See how they grow and then check your onions and leeks .

    I'm pretty sure white rot doesn't show in the soil so think it's mycelium, don't pull your leeks and keep checking. Fantastic idea to re design forgotten areas keeps thing exciting x

    Emma, the white stuff in your beds could be mycelium that is a good fungus, so you need to see if it is white rod or mycelium before you rip everything out

    Agree with others that it is NOT white rot, but rather is mycelium, a good fungus. It's showing up because your soil has been damp for a while. No worries!

    Emma I don't think white rot can be seen in soil only on the root and bulb of your allium.. If you have wood chip in bed then more likely it's mycellium which grows on old decaying wood and very beneficial to the soil.... Don't pull everything up before checking.

    • @elainemcgran8828

    It would be nice to have an actual small lawn area, grass seed, you could just strim it and maybe a nice picnic table eventually. Last year I bought a small electric strimmer, rechargable so no cord, it's great for grass and weeds that are not too woody or brambly it wasn't mega expensive but a game changer for my gardening as the petrol strimmer is too heavy for me.

    Hi Emma- a tip for you. Make sure to sterilise any equipment that has had any contact with the fungus infected soil as otherwise you will spread the disease around all your beds which will make growing alliums difficult for you, in the future. Happy growing 🙂

    I was watching another alotment utuber and they had the same as what your calling white rot but he said it was something else and shows how good his soil is. Double check white rot ua fluffy fungal that's on the base of the buld and later it turns into what looks like black seeds

  • @LuanneMcCollum

    Emma chill out a little white rot can not be seen in soil you only see it on the plant unless maybe a tiny bit fell off but you cant see it in soil and definitely not on your scale and I'm sure u don't even get white rot in winter also is it not maybe all that slug control stuff you tried putting down over the summer and yer do a big pond build would love that right in middle at back of new plot and keep greenhouse to one side so can see pond with a seating area

    Mycelium. Hopefully you did not pull you leeks, onions and garlic out. Mycelium is beneficial and desirable in soil as it makes nutrients available to your plants.

    I'm apologizing for my negativity but I'm truly worried about the amount of bind weed in the area for your lovely new greenhouse.You really need to meticulously clean the soil but if it's in that patch behind it will creep back in. You're going to have an ongoing battle there.
