The way Hawk saw Demetrius as his weak spot and he thought if he got rid of Demetri it would be his way of getting rid of his old self is so sad, but Demetri was always such a good friend, I can’t wait to see what their friendship will be like in season 4
I AGREE!!! Like you can see that Demetri just wanted to have his friend back by how quickly he accepted Hawk's apology in the last fight in S3 and how he never really gave up on Hawk even when things between them got tense. And yes it is a shame Hawk felt like that, I also cannot wait to see how both of them will be in the next season (the talks, clearing the air, understanding each other....I can't wait)
All the backslaps, handshakes and spar sessions in the world won't make 1:52 or 3:24 go away. No-one looks at a school friend or sibling figure that way, if they don't wish to be more intimate with them. When one plays a character well enough, as Jacob and Gianni inhabit theirs on CK, the organic emotions or desires of that character inevitably surface, sometimes contrary to script. Dem & Eli may not have been conceptualised as lovers, but it's clear from the final cut of the show that once the characters were cast and the actors worked together long enough, the resultant chemistry provoked undeniable sympatico & passion. The character/actors are getting older now, too, so after years season 1's cute young teen pals naturally ought to evolve or resolve their relationship into something deeper.
I thought the "Binary Brothers" was cute and nerdy, but I also hated it.......a lot. In my opinion the tropes that were used with the boys were common romantic tropes used with straight couples in stories, so when they not so subtly clarified that they are "Binary Brothers" it just felt really forced. It felt like the show's producers were chill with the tension and chemistry between the two characters, but as soon as they realized that the path that the boys were on was a commonly known romantic path in storytelling they looked at the writers and said "Absolutely not! Fix this! Now!" It's a shame I felt like it would've made the show more interesting and the boys' relationship, betrayal and eventual reconciliation of that relationship that much deeper.
@@MicukoFelton Yup. I think the more frustrating point is that the directors promised diverse representation when they started the show. In season 1 Aisha was the main female focus. Instead of choosing the typical skinny blonde white girl, they chose a thick short haired black girl and this wasn't a diversity checkmark. Aisha was a fully flushed out character and she was top of her class, but the moment season 2 dropped she became a background character and was mostly replaced by a skinny blonde white girl. But they didn't stop at racial diversity. Moon was shown to be bisexual when her girlfriend Piper was introduced, but right after she was introduced it was only insinuated that they broke up off screen when she started showing interest in some random guy. Eli mentions right off the bat that he might be on the Autism spectrum, which made made me really excited that I could possibly have a character in the karate kid universe that I could relate to on a more personal level, but the creators did nothing with it. Now all I'm left with is trying to notice the unintentional autistic coding that happens from time to time with his character. They promised diversity and then they stepped back so hard and so fast. It's sad because there were so many characters that had the chance to represent people who usually don't make it onto the big screen in those specific roles and they just flopped those story archs and character developments the moment they introduced them.
@@masontalarico7090 yes, all such true and excellent points. It feels like only a few of us have noticed this and are daring to criticise the creators and producers for walking back their promise and betraying their initial premise. Eli/Dem and their natural love story are just one sad casualty of covert bigotry.
@@beautifuladonay8798 I know that, and he was never a monster, he was just lost and drowning under expectations and social pressure, survival of the fittest after all. But yeah I agree, it also made me angry.

Exactly. Homophobia is alive and well today, huh.
