accept yourself unless you're a coded gay character because either you're a villain that needs to change or the power of will lead you to the opposite sex in the next sequel for broader international distribution, so they don't have to edit the character or their dialogue completely out of the film. Be yourself just not in places where you can be executed or they'll lose revenue.

I have mixed feelings on how they handle Addison. On the one hand the fact such a big deal is made about such a minor thing like hair color feels really out of place compared to the stuff surrounding the zombies. On the other hand it’s arguably a better allegory for bigotry then the zombies are, there’s legitimate justification for the humans to fear zombies, while Addison experiences something much more similar to irl bigotry, which isn’t rooted in something legitimate.

Nobody hates her because of her hair. She's just insecure about it. Literally everyone likes her and does as she says. Therefore not bigotry.
