We have a baker act down here in Florida it requires 72 hour observation if someone displays suicidal or homicidal behavior from whoever makes the call and reports it,it doesn't even matter if it's a false report by law they have to be hospitalized this was because long ago a young man wants to kill himself his pleas were ignored he then committed suicide and the family sued the state so they enacted this state law
