I’ve talked about in my friend group how Cyx probably the best Roadhog player is going like 1 and 6 in comp now and having to switch characters It’s horrible to see because the rework on Roadhog gave me new love in Overwatch and he’s just so hard to play now

The issue with the DPS passive and 50 extra health is that it isn’t what was needed to fix the game. All that needed was just lower damage on supports and some and other characters, and lower healing sustain and burst.
Tank as a whole is just depressing to play. Even playing Ramattra or Sigma, I get 3-shot by the random widowmaker across the map that goes 18-2 every game

The DPS passive should've only been for healing received from support characters. Self heals shouldn't have been touched. The DPS passive really messes up roadhog, queen, and mauga. How do you balance the resource with the random debuff you can't even see is active?
Nope it needs to be designed for indivudal characters. Queen, hog, reaper probably need the help. Soldier needs a million nerfs to even be remotely balanced, he doesn't need the help whatsoever.
Let's hope they still intend to do this and don't see the whole world as a single shade. The passive is a good idea for the heroes that already have so much layered mitigation. Hog and co. don't have that and self-healing is their crutch.

There had to be a bug right? Because there's no world that was 20% healing. Something tells me damage over time is just gigabreaking the game. There's something clearly wrong with the dps passive, the healing should be 20%. It looks like it is 20% rebuff that's reapplied every tick... which is why breather and mercy pocket(both healing over time) are literally not moving his hp bar. Sidenote: they changed the damage in the game, but didn't touch hogs healing.... but gave him 800 hp. So basically he doesn't have the resources to even sustain that HP pool, but don't worry his hook does more dmg. They didn't touch any numbers in the game but health and hitboxes. Don't get me started on the hitbox changes. But seriously if you're going to make it where everyone in the game is hitting shots more consistently, you'd think that they'd address the healing in the game as well but no
Its worse than pre-rework hog cause instead of having breather on cooldown, now you just don’t have it at all. If enemy team goes bastion and waits out hook the hero just alt-f4’s
I forsee the game now is tanking is done in the backline, at a comfortable position to reset from the damage passive. Hold hook to be a threat, or attempt to hook in for a kill but don't chase it.
I think its just a new way of playing. Some would argue it keeps the game fresh and gives new characters the light. Theres always going to be a best and worst character so that needs to change now and again otherwise it will just be the same characters used all the time

Where cyx could set up and hide while his team still had a frontline and could engage and push enabling him to flank, get picks, distract their back line, etc. Rather have a more lethal hog thats punishable than this version of hog that needs 800 hp to frontline yet isn’t a threat and doesn’t get value
Yea this season is awful for tank. It's ironic because I was mostly DPS until OW2 released. Then when DPS started getting outdone by support and tank, I played those and started loving tank. Now that I can play DPS again, I can't stand to play tank, especially in lower ranks where people don't know how to adjust for the new changes. Every tank feels like they're on borrowed time when they're playing against the new DPS passive. They outdamage self-heal and force your supports to put almost all their focus on you. The game now comes down to a war of attrition for tank uptime.
Man.. I hate playing tank, never been a fan of that role, towards the end of last season I found myself picking up Hog and actually having a good time with him, I felt he was very strong while also being a fun hero to play. Now thats gone…

Roadhog is a huge tank that just makes it easier for him to keep being shooted over and over again, which does not apply to shield tanks or those that have mobility by themselves, his only way to keep surviving was his heal and they just nerf that. Now he is completely dependant on his supports and keep hiding behind walls as a rat. I hate it.
As a reinhardt main, I hate this season, ramattra can out poke out speed, out tank and out brawl rein even without lowering his health at range, and now with the new dps debuff I can do nothing but see my rank drop to bronze 5
Its funny to me that with every scenario where roadhog had an increase in health, he was eventually terrible or questionable. Getting more extreme with each case
Also, I think Hog and Queen should have a passive that negates the new dps passive. Call it Junkyard tough, or Outback skin…since their purpose of survival (tanking) has been removed with this new passive. I don’t mind the changes at all, and kinda have been enjoying the game. I do think though it hurts Hog and Queen the most, so since they both from Junkertown, give them a unique passive to help with the new dps passive, and goes into their tough as nail location lore. Also, they really need to nerf or do something about zen…
To answer your question about Bob counting as a DPS passive, yes, just like Torb's turret, and Sym's turrets. Oh and you give half as much ult charge with healing to your supports as a tank now.

Some solutions are to give hog back his damage and old damage mitigation or extra heal with take a breather. Other than that, he’s pretty much dead in the water.
I don't know why they haven't individually excepted heroes like Hog and Mauga from anti and this new passive. That's their mitigation. They didn't make a passive that does more damage to shields, so some heroes are inherently disadvantaged. I think shifting the median of health pools is a good balancing tool. I don't think hitboxes need to be increased. Higher health means more room to tune damage. Damage passive is a good addition, that can be tuned accordingly henceforth. Heaing not being increased is good too, they should now go the direction of reworking immortality abilities and lowering their cooldowns.

Big mistake. The only tanks getting significant value at my rank is Dva, Sigma and Orisa.
The dps passive is the issue here. What's the counterplay to not having it on you? Not taking DMG. What is your main job as a tank? Taking DMG. Every update they just insist on making tanking worse and then Pikachu face when no-one wants to play tank
Hog will always be the same until they start thinking and properly rework him, as he is right now he either has hook oneshot or he doesn't, and he is either the worst tank or annoying to deal with. They need to disconnect his shotgun from the hook's power, he kind of still had that before with the right click but now that the right click is gone, Hog IS the hook with a health bar

I'd say with the removal of 1 tank, tanking became about taking dmg even harder. You can't deny off angles, can't set up plays, can't kill, can't do shit. Hog isn't dead. He isn't even terrible. He is viable, NOT GOOD, but viable IN MOST SKILL LEVELS. Probably not in the highest levels. im sad they did hero reworks right before they overhauled healing and the dps passive, wouldve been better to rework hog and sombra after they changed everyones hp and passives. But don't worry in two years they will buff roadhog to be somewhat useful then nerf him a month after that as is in the cards.
Its amazing how they basically didnt even buff d tier tanks like rein or ball,( i know they did buff tein but it balances it out because everyone got a hp buff)
I have noticed a big difference when playing DPS hit scan characters like Soldier and Sojourn. Bastion also actually. I like the new update but I understand why people are upset over Hog.
I know when they nerfed the sleep dart for tanks they said they didn't want specific interactions like that. Which I get, game has so many numbers etc... its hard to keep up, so the casual base would have no clue. But honestly I think having specific interactions, while complicating things could lead to better balance. With breather though it just took a slight nerf, leading into this passive now, another nerf. So maybe just roll that back, while also touching dps passive because it seems like a few tanks are struggling. I can't game until Friday so this is just based on vids I have seen.

I think they should change the self healing tanks, self heals sucks ass if it's the only way for them to defend, the breather should generate 50% of the no received healing into over health, if hog gets antinaded, at least he will heals the half he would normally do, and jq should, instead of two times the bleeding DMG into healing, 1x healing and 1x over health
It should really only work on supports healing their team not self sustain. Imo. Like even say mauga, it reduces life steal for team but not himself I think that would be better for those heroes
I was all "new comp new me this season" until the Balance Nation attacked. People don't know how to adjust half the time at my Elo, and it's kinda trash. I pity tanks. I'm no longer willing to queue as that role.
You see I don't get it, I understand you're not going to do a deep change of all the heroes after a really big patch. But they just reworked hog after acknowledging his issues and gave him his same issues back lol. They literally undid their changes, but honestly It's worse because you can't rely on breather. Damage role new passive. They got rid of the reload speed buff on elimination and replaced it with a 20 percent less healing debuff upon damaging a target for two seconds. Any healing from a support or self heal will be nerfed by 20 percent. Roadhog, Junker Queen, and Mauga mitigate damage by healing themselves and with all projectiles in the game getting bigger that means you can constantly hit the enemy tank and permanently nerf their healing and tanking ability.
I returned to Overwatch after a long long time without playing it. Road was one of my favorites to play, once I saw my healing not doing shit, besides the lack of the other shotgun I just abandoned him. I can't stand the fact that once again they are putting more resources on DPS other than tanks or supports.
I haven't watched a lot of your videos because I didn't find Hog that interesting. But it makes me sad to see you try so hard and not get much in return. Winning only 1 out of 6 games, and just because it was against another Hog, feels bad. Your hooks are masterpiece, though. I hope Blizz fixes things soon.
You spend your whole breather, and not only does it take longer now to heal, you also can't tank for shit, and you end up with less than half hp and no breather. Hog is absolute worthless trash tier at the moment. They need to either make breather give overhealth (limit 800hp) or increase his damage reduction to at least 70%.
Bruh just copy paladins on this and make the passive heals by a % of the health so the tank can use it properly and the cauterize going from 5% to 20% throughout the game
Zen has become the first support/dps/tank character in Overwatch. He’s literally a meta all to himself. Also, Bob has become the best tank/dps character currently. Crazy to think that Zen and Bob are currently the two best characters in Overwatch lol.
Just change some of hog's hp to armor and he will be good again. Should be an obvious change. Everything feels great this patch, they shouldn't go back to what we had in S8.

It's sad cuz I found you and started to play a ton of hog. Was enjoying it and everything. But now it hurts to play him unless supports are on point.

Hog isn't dead. He isn't even terrible. He is viable, NOT GOOD, but viable IN MOST SKILL LEVELS. Probably not in the highest levels. I know it sucks for Hog mains but MAN DOES IT FEEL GOOD FOR EVERYONE ELSE. YOU HAD YOUR TIME and I hope you'll have it again at some point BUT IT'S MY TURN TO PLAY NOW.
As a main tank player i feel your pain when you go hog they have zen or Kiko but when they go hog or muaga your supports refuse to do anything about it then say it’s a tank diff it’s honestly insane I can’t with this game sometimes
im sad they did hero reworks right before they overhauled healing and the dps passive, wouldve been better to rework hog and sombra after they changed everyones hp and passives. But don't worry in two years they will buff roadhog to be somewhat useful then nerf him a month after that as is in the cards.

Its amazing how they basically didnt even buff d tier tanks like rein or ball,( i know they did buff tein but it balances it out because everyone got a hp buff)
I have noticed a big difference when playing DPS hit scan characters like Soldier and Sojourn. Bastion also actually. I like the new update but I understand why people are upset over Hog.

Seriously thats all they need to do and he will be fine, even mauga should get that. Every self heal should net be affected by the passive.
I know when they nerfed the sleep dart for tanks they said they didn't want specific interactions like that. Which I get, game has so many numbers etc... its hard to keep up, so the casual base would have no clue. But honestly I think having specific interactions, while complicating things could lead to better balance.
With breather though it just took a slight nerf, leading into this passive now, another nerf. So maybe just roll that back, while also touching dps passive because it seems like a few tanks are struggling. I can't game until Friday so this is just based on vids I have seen.
@@patrickmcdaniel5756you are totally right though. They should definitely nerf the dps passive a bit cuz its way to strong right now. Or make it so tanks only take 10% or something cuz trying to play any tank right now is extremely unfun.

I think they should change the self healing tanks, self heals sucks ass if it's the only way for them to defend, the breather should generate 50% of the no received healing into over health, if hog gets antinaded, at least he will heals the half he would normally do, and jq should, instead of two times the bleeding DMG into healing, 1x healing and 1x over health

It should really only work on supports healing their team not self sustain. Imo. Like even say mauga, it reduces life steal for team but not himself I think that would be better for those heroes

I was all "new comp new me this season" until the Balance Nation attacked. People don't know how to adjust half the time at my Elo, and it's kinda trash. I pity tanks. I'm no longer willing to queue as that role.
You see I don't get it, I understand you're not going to do a deep change of all the heroes after a really big patch. But they just reworked hog after acknowledging his issues and gave him his same issues back lol. They literally undid their changes, but honestly It's worse because you can't rely on breather. I will say it every time. It wasn't Bobby, it was a bad dev team and Will continue to be so.

The new dps passive shouldn't be applied to the self heal, u kinda kill the characters that their self heal is an important part of their kit
take a breather effectively nullifies the dps passive which means take a breather has no dmg reduction anymore lol

ashe constantly pinging is so annoying..
constantly pinging would def be less annoying if there wasn't an audio queue / voiceline every single time
there should be an option to disable the sounds but obviously there's bigger things to fix (which they won't)

I didn't notice it. I only notice Tracer doing it. There's a Tracer or maybe two of them in the EU ladder, and when they crop up in Chazm's videos... it's quite funny.

What is the new passive?
DPS dmg reduces healing received for 2 seconds by 20%
Damage role new passive. They got rid of the reload speed buff on elimination and replaced it with a 20 percent less healing debuff upon damaging a target for two seconds. Any healing from a support or self heal will be nerfed by 20 percent. Roadhog, Junker Queen, and Mauga mitigate damage by healing themselves and with all projectiles in the game getting bigger that means you can constantly hit the enemy tank and permanently nerf their healing and tanking ability.
Dps has been cosmetic for a while now, so honestly, give them their moment to shine.
I returned to Overwatch after a long long time without playing it. Road was one of my favorites to play, once I saw my healing not doing shit, besides the lack of the other shotgun I just abandoned him. I can't stand the fact that once again they are putting more resources on DPS other than tanks or supports.

I haven't watched a lot of your videos because I didn't find Hog that interesting. But it makes me sad to see you try so hard and not get much in return. You spend your whole breather, and not only does it take longer now to heal, you also can't tank for shit, and you end up with less than half hp and no breather.
Hog is absolute worthless trash tier at the moment.
They need to either make breather give overhealth (limit 800hp) or increase his damage reduction to at least 70%.
By over Health do u mean +100? Ie used to be 700-800 but now would be 800-900?

Just change some of hog's hp to armor and he will be good again. Should be an obvious change. Everything feels great this patch, they shouldn't go back to what we had in S8.
I think the better option is to just not make breather be affected by the dps passive.
