This will hold as the best Lego stopmotion film ever made until you make another Flash vid lol. I felt huge Scott Pilgrim and My Hero vibes while watching this and loved every bit of it. Also love the take on Booster Gold. I loved how Barry hypes up some huge battle with Booster all for it to be interrupted by the fact that he’s still tied up lmao. It all feels so much like it’s from a comic book and I love every bit of it. You’re great man. Keep it up!!!
Baffle thanks man! Happy to hear that. Yeah, I definitely tried to give the fight scenes an anime aesthetic (mainly because I didn’t have enough legos to make a practical set of the city lol). And you’re absolutely right, I wanted it to feel like a comic book. Also, and I’m sure you noticed this, the text boxes from the beginning are taken right from Flash Comics #1 and Showcase #4 (first appearance of Barry Allen!) :)
Yellow Shots Tbh I didn’t recognize the Fleeter one but I did notice the Winged Mercury one. Knowing one of them made me figure the other was also from another Flash comic. You know your stuff and it’s cool to see you keep the feel of these characters still alive while telling your own story using them. I pray for the day I see a Reverse Flash show up in one of these vids! (My fav villain)

Nearly two years later, this is still a fantastic brickfilm. From the animation, to the editing and style, it all culminates in a fun and spectacular video. Definitely one of the best and stylistic brickfilms I've seen in a while. Any plans for a sequel? It'd be great to see one.

Clueless [Soul] it was never meant to be a two-parter. We just had trouble finishing the whole thing by the EDCU deadline, so we released the first half then, but now that it’s finished, I rather just have people watch the full version :)
Oh my gosh this is good! I love your style dude, it’s so fun and unique, the animation is great, the set design is awesome, the humor is amazing, and the story was pretty good! I do have a few criticisms, I would’ve liked to see Barry take down the villains, the climactic battle while very funny was kinda underwhelming, and the ending with Batman showing up felt kinda rushed and forced. I loved how did new stuff in this Flash origin story like no Particle Excelerator, no being in a coma, and making Booster Gold a villain was awesome! Overall 8/10

Holy crap why does this not have more views? I loved it! The writing was awesome and super funny...I especially loved the ad part and I thought it was an actual ad! I loved all of the stylistic choices you made...like the whip pans, split screens, etc. You don’t usually find that kind of style in a brickfilm, which made it all the more fun to watch! I have a question for you...do you have any tips on production design for brickfilms? I’ve always kinda struggled with it so it would be really awesome if you’d give me some tips! Thanks and congrats on this awesome video!
thank you for the kind feedback! it’s great to hear you dig the style. And to answer your question regarding production design, I have a few tips I’d be happy to share with you:
•idk if you’ve seen this, but I’ve stumbled across too many brickfilms that use gray lego base plates to hide the wall and/or room where you’re shooting. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but I personally tend to avoid it by taping either a blue poster board (to resemble daytime sky) or a black poster board (for nighttime). Then whatever set I build in the foreground feels automatically more immersed in the world of the story
•you probably noticed this already, but I didn’t really have a lot of legos to build the sets you see in this video. I would usually try to make whatever is in front of the camera as nice-looking and complex as possible, while disregarding anything outside of the frame. Don’t focus too much on building a complete set. Instead, visualize in head what the full set looks like, and, for practical reasons, only worry about what you can physically see in the shot. And then move to the next shot and repeat.
•this one is kind of a follow-up to the previous tip. Since you only have to worry about what’s in the frame, and if you don’t have a lot of legos to work with, like in my case, don’t be afraid to have tighter shots. Might even make your video look more cinematic
•the reason that the car chase in the intro happens on a white world (the white background) is because it’s supposed to take place in the streets of Central City and I didn’t have enough legos for that. If you don’t have anything fancy, get creative. Use green screen, or only set your story in whatever environment you can make with the tools that you have available. There’s this saying in filmmaking that I always repeat to myself: “scarcity drives creativity.”
•lastly, since you should only worry about what’s in the frame, don’t be afraid to play with the lighting that you have to highlight cool things in your set and hide certain spots that don’t look so good. Lighting is key. It can make a great set look bad and a simple set look amazing.
