Her father flew for TWA back when being a pilot was real. Not 1200 computers doing everything.Kudos to the man and screw that unsupportive bunch.
He was also the only one, up until his children established themselves, who actually had to scrape to make careers and lives for themselves.

God bless you, Mary Trump!!!!
This is scary, When I think of my grandparents, I'm thankful to God they had no money but they believed in right and wrong had strong moral value and loved us with all their heart. I was truly blessed and will always remember them.
The 60's shine with her father! So cool that he was a pilot!
I have the biggest admiration for Mary. Hoping that the voters don't make the same mistake that they did in 2016.
It’s so shocking to hear Donal Trump’s followers .. I hear it personally they will really vote for Donald … I was speechless hearing them saying they are tired of President Biden and want Trump be re-elected… it seems like Trump followers are hypnotized or maybe They are of the same character of DT.I am praying for our country and praying for God to do something to stop Donald Trump’s obsession to reclaim his presidency …and destroy our democracy , open the minds of the Republican Lawmakers in the whitehouse to do the right thing.

My sister was the discarded child. I was the pampered child. Every child can have a different experience of the same narcissistic parent. Often they’re turned against each other because their stories are so different
Actually, differential abuse of siblings is the norm in abusive homes. It's especially sad because the children singled out for abuse think they are doing something to cause it and end up having to deal with that fall out later in life.
True but that's her father, not her uncle
Agreed.
Even if a kid doesn't have a narcissistic parent they have different experience .
@@claudiastutsman3252 Of course. Because if everyone is getting the same treatment, it becomes so much easier to identify the abuser as the problem.

Why are they downplaying the accomplishment of becoming a pilot ? Becoming a commercial pilot is no walk in the park..
A commercial airplane is like a flying bus. So, a commercial airplane pilot is a bit like a flying bus driver. That doesn't fit the Tump model.
Hey, in the 60s and 70s it was a top job.
@Siren Thelxiope Literally not any adult can be a bus driver. Take Trump for instance. Did you see him sitting in that big rig? I doubt he even knows or remembers how to drive a car.
@vincent james Agreed. Bus drivers are rarely acknowledged or appreciated. Yet, pilots are provided uniforms that resemble the military and walk through the airport like they own the place.
At the same time they down play that her dad was an alcoholic...unlike her uncle

Emotionally and financially. The way we are socialized is crucial. So sad.
facts but at what point do we as adults take responsibilities for our own actions?
@Evelyn Jackson if hes not what else is he?
But even the most damaged get to an age where they then make their own choices. They go out into the wide world and lump it. They may be scarred, but they do their best to live at peace with other people, and to earn a living. Some may not make it, but they try. Trump has never tried. he bullies his way through the world. If he had a heart, there might be a way to forgive him, but he is every bit as cold as his father, and everything is about him.
I live in Europe and corona is almost gone here there are so many difference in leaders why is Trump not capable of handeling it????
I wonder how much this information shared by a very sincere niece helped for the defeat of her uncle. Even if a little, it certainly was an important exposé. She was brave to do this close to the 2020 US election as she knew her uncle would try to destroy her. But then she is a strong woman and the information was more important then her future. I am very proud of her. Stephanopoulos asked the correct questions and allowed her to speak with few if any interruptions. Excellent interviews!
I am so thankful that Mary Trump had the guts to speak out. Thank you Mary!

But not as good as she wasn't taking her share of the family money of which she earned zero
How does one “earn” getting one’s family money?
The good Dr. Trump is incisive and eloquent. And objective.
So this Donald Trump who is running again for president is a psychological wreck. Uh oh, that is not good. Not good at all.

STFU 😛🤣🙄
it's mentally like a chronic PTSD, the thoughts that we can't ever shake for life.. you're right.
Toxicity in families is child abuse as the adults are able to stop these behaviors and fix things but they don't. Yet, people continue to bring poor children into the world to achieve their own sick, selfish motivations. Heart wrenching
@Jane Doe Really, so all of the Republican investigations into the Clintons have just been so outsmarted at every turn so as to not find criminal wrong doing for nearly 30 years? Then they are fucking geniuses and deserve to preside over the country. Donald's crimes are numerous and obvious. If we had a Senate worth its salt, Donald would have been removed.

It usually happens when parents spoil their kids or use preferential treatment for others instead of equally supporting them.
We didn't bring kids to this world to rear them as sheep, but instead turn them into free thinkers and to forge a life of their own with principles.
*As a child, Donald may have deserved our empathy, but that quickly changed. One of the first stories had him gluing his brother's building blocks together permanently when told he couldn't borrow them. His "I/me/my" ego only got worse from there.*

Great Interview 👏👏👍
George Stephanopoulos is the best interviewer I know. Much respect to Dr Trump, Bravo for speaking up.
Your late dad will be so proud 👍
Her story about how she learned about her father's death is truly heartbreaking
Think deeply on her statement..
Her father's sad state of alcoholism and death, was INDEED saddening. But it was not of his family's doing. We may be of different opinion, but
her story lacks disclosure.
Admittedly, she herself did not have a good relationship with her father. The question rose up within me that maybe we all should ask..
Why did her own MOTHER, not even call her? Why was she not even close enough to have known he was there, herself??
What's missing is WHY the whole family turned away from Mary.
As discussed, Mary is still bitter that SHE didn't get more money out of the settlement. (But she was assured, that her book would compensate for that)
Bitter, is a descriptive term of her demeanor. It really is her vengeful shot, at trying to get back at the family.
(She and her publishers orchestrated the timing, and the weight of her name being on the cover, to maximize sales).
The family estrangement of Mary, was due to her blatant lesbianism. She carries herself in a non-effeminent manner.
Just as the Trump's are INDEED dysfunctional..it is my opinion that Mary, is as well.
In denial, with her clinical degree on her chest.. she claims that she is the only one that knows the inside story of the family. Yet, even her brother turned his back on her lifestyle, and her biased and skewed testimony.
Rest assured.. I am NOT a fan of Donald Trump. He is so full of himself. BUT this interview is about family. We ALL have closets...
But, I can see a wolf in sheep's clothing..and how darkness beats darkness.
This writer is exactly that.
she literally said her mother wasn't home. This is before cell phones. She was already in college. Her mother called her 2 minutes AFTER and told her her father died. Stop trying to make this about HER (a young adult at the time) rather than the cult leader and his disfunctional family.
Yall are really commenting essays about this 😑🙄
@@laurenharewood1446 Well, to finish this banter..
Your statements, are incorrect.
MARY called her Mother, (NOT the other way around) after talking with her grandfather.
(Her Dad had been living in her grandad's attic, before he died)
Her mother THEN told her he had passed away 2 hours previous. (Her mother had divorced her Dad many years earlier). Mary was SIXTEEN at the time of her death.
Her father did indeed, pass away..and alone, as she quotes. But her relationship with him, was strained to say the least.
But, Donald was AT the movies, when he received word his brother had died..not going to a movie afterwords.
This book is just as much about Mary's nature, as it is her Uncle's narcissism. (I still can't believe he won).
It reads like a "tell all" supermarket tabloid. The book is riddled with ambiguity and bitterness. And frankly, I considered much of it as hyperbole.
And to all, I bid you adieu..

The tragedy is 74m Americans are too dumb to know or appreciate any better. These are the people who mindlessly will cheer and clap at everything Trump claims.
Think about it.
It’s December 12/2020 and I just read her book. I had trouble sleeping and had nightmares because it cut close to the bone, and my subconscious resurfaced all my memories of my own autocratic father. Watching Trump’s behaviour since the 1980’s and the past four years, there is no reason not to believe her.
Musiclover I think she is rather brave to bring such a book especially when he was the president.
You may have lead a life sorta like trumps childhood but really are you like trump? I’m betting not because even though it’s bread into you, you have what they call FREE CHOICE! Not to be like him. And I believe you made that choice. You can change your personality. I did. My mom was an alcoholic, but I chose the opposite of her ways. I do not act like her by choice. By Gods grace I can do ME. and I believe you have to.
In the end Donald's fault is his fathers fault. And Eric, Don Jr and Ivankas faults are their fathers fault. Like a generation thing. More scary than the ghost stories 😳 on You Tube. The sins of the fathers being visited on the children.

The Trump that Trumpets all Trumps. She turned her $50 allowances into the highest amount of insurance ever issued by a single person.
She's brilliant!
@@user-ci8ih5gv5g she really is! I could listen to this a thousand times over. Fabtastic.
She has such a HIGH EQ, and is so deeply self aware. I am so impressed with Mary's constancy and her ability to analyze and understand her family dynamic. I am so impressed she might be the ONLY one that this family's toxicity didn't swallow her up! WOW. She is DEVELOPED!
Grandfather was a sociopath makes total sense.
Grandfather was a sociopath. Little did the Trumps know, GrandPappy was only the first peel off the ole orange!
Curious if all the people who agree with this knew his father personally.
@@antoniaschiffer4958 We didn't know Hitler personally either and yet we know that he was psychopath, sociopath and everything in between. Although maybe your opinion is different .
@@joannakarlsson3423 I think Hitler was evil. Trump wants to lift this country up not destroy it. Look at what the dems do. They use there power and take money out of people's hands. When the $1200.00 dispersements went out to individividuals recently the dems made sure the bill passed only if they got money to organizations that had nothing to do with covid. They are communists, criminals. You don't see what's going on around us. If the left does something it is ok but a person on the right gets the ax. Example, the couple who protected their home by arming themselves when the protesters caused them to fear. They did not do anything illegal. Now protesters around the country have done some nasty, violent, illegal, immoral things. I know this was not the topic but I think we need to look st the big picture.
Torchy Brown exactly all he wants is to lift up himself, his ego, and his wallet it is and was never about us or “making america great again” people seem to forget that trump time and time again has proven he is only loyal to one person, himself because those are the only needs he values

God Bless Your Late Father Mary Trump!
Mary Trump, every single word spoken by you is factual. From experience in my family I'v encountered most of what you have written.
She really is very well-spoken and articulates her thoughts definitively.
She got herself an actual education and some balance from the familial disfunction. However, as she says, she is still a 'Trump'.
An apple tree can only bear apples.
Yes, the apple falls far from the uncle tree here, lol!
She is! But she has her own agenda here! The fact she has distanced herself from the rest of the family says much.
LOL...ironically so...
Hi Mary, I’m a lifelong Democrat, but in my book, you

"Projection is a powerful thing." - Mary Trump

Yeah, this is what the dems do.
Tucker Matthew Rain “I know you are but what am I”, do I have that right? That’s your defense?
She should know. It appears that it is what she is doing. She is trashing her family in public for her own gain. No respect for this woman.
Most of what she is projecting was before she was even born, hence why it is projection. It appears she is upset she didn't get that money from Gramps. Projection is not truth. Assumption is not truth. Very sad she felt the need to slam her family. I bet she wouldn't have done this had her pockets been lined like she thought they should have been.
She went and got an education in psychology to figure out wtf is wrong with her family 🤭🤔
Exactly lol
Idiotic statement from a moron . Maybe you should consult with her for your own sake
she is a loser.
Not a stretch..
Strawberry TallCake but she has used racial slurs as well it’ all in the family I can here Archie Bunker singing it now🎼
Mary has always shown a full amount of honesty when she's been interviewed or given a chance to express herself on her family affairs. She's also been very honest about herself. She an out lesbian, she compliments family members she doesn't get along with, she's been able to put aside family litigation from years ago that would normally tear a family relationship apart. She's been revealing of herself in many ways that would not normally occur from an average person. Her goal is honesty in every instance. In other words, she is true blue and hides nothing. Especially of family affairs. Bless her for that. Even when it makes her look not so good, if it's the truth, she offers it. Her goal is to convey THEE truest information on her family's affairs whenever she is interviewed. As she is doing now. Bless her for that. We CAN believe her.
😊
She is a disgraceful liar.
What an articulate, intelligent woman. And such raw honesty.

I concur with what *L Puma* wrote before me. Mary Trump's book is not scandalous or sensationalist; it is the sad story of a difficult family. I don't think it will, on its own, change the results of the election, but it will help more people at least understand why DJT is what he is.
Yup.
This is one BOOK I will purchase and Read. A MUST.

It’s scary to me that she blows the whistle and nobody that can do something does or is doing anything about it.
We did! We voted him out.
My mouth on the floor. This was a great interview 🤯 did she say 1 billion dollar inherited by the family, but 30M was reported. Isn't this tax fraud. Yet the IRS will turn your life upside down if you owe a few dollars. Know wonder he doesn't want to show his taxes at all, he has lots of stuff hidden. I like her thou.
There's a bunch of possible reasons why he has fought so hard to conceal his taxes. We all know he's a criminal and a horrible businessman.
That’s racist. You need to check your white privilege.
@Sweet Dixie please, don't speak so lowly of yourself. The comment was about reporting taxes not owing. Reporting incorrect amounts is fraudulent which is why he doesn't want his tax files released. It will expose fraud. Geesh!
No wonder he want to re-elections so bad because if he lose the taxpayers will come after him of that tax fraud
Sweet Dixie what are you trying to say? Your comment is unintelligible. Are you saying that if he OWED taxes he couldn’t be president? HE LIES and CHEATS. That’s why he doesn’t want anyone to see them. Speaking of stupid.........?
Kudos George on your interview here. I don’t recall when I last saw a journalist handle the job so well and so objectively. All aspiring journalist out there should watch this to see how it’s done properly. This would include most who already have a job.
Really? In 2015 I heard a radio talk show host and his callers rant and rave about how much they hated DT. One night, a caller challenged the host to only allow callers on air who had somerhing positive to say about DT. The result was so astounding that the radio host continued it the next night. After many of the comments the host himself said, "That's true! I remember when that happened!" All positive comments had to do with DT helping others or a group of underprivileged people in NYC. By the end of the two nights, the radio host changed his view of DT and so did I. When he did those good deeds he was not running for anything and he has never mentioned them during his campaign. Much of what we hear him say today is reactionary. And MT has latched onto that to sell her book. What does she do when no one is watching.
@@jacquelinehuggins6021 that’s not what I was commenting on in this particular post, but since you brought it up - everyone on this planet has their light side and their dark side Jacqueline. That would include Donald and Mary. And you and me for that matter. But the man in question ran for President of the US and while everything he did would not fall under ‘dark’, he did manage to be the most divisive and polarizing individual to hold that office in your entire history. Flawed individuals, no matter who they are or where they’ve come from, are entitled to their rights and their own opinions but they are not entitled to impose their weakness of character in general on that office - at least not for more than four years. The people have spoken and now it’s up to him to get a grip on reality and realize he had his little ‘ruler spree’ and it’s time to go back to what he does when he’s not single handedly taking down a nation.
@@jacquelinehuggins6021 What does she do when no one is watching you asked? Probably cry her eyes out. Living in that type of environment is heart breaking.
@@maryjane9152 I wouldn’t call Jacqueline a ‘terrible’ person for expressing her opinion here Mary. So many of us are on red alert with our emotions when this subject comes up and we tend to state things in stronger terms than are often called for. I hope you can see the divisiveness here in everyone taking such a hardcore stance and not giving an inch. We all need to take a deep breath, realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we enjoy the freedom (at the moment) to express that openly. Debate when done constructively is healthy and hopefully leads all involved to a better understanding. I do agree that Mary has probably gone through hell in that family, both pre and post book publishing. She was indeed brave to speak her mind about such a crucial matter.
@@maryjane9152 Don't worry about what I said, Mary Jane. The British interviewers as nice and diplomatic as they were to MT saw through everything when they made two comments. One British interviewer calmly responded, "Of course we're only hearing one side of the story," to which MT, although caught off guard agreed. Another asked her at the end of the interview, "Can you tell us one positive thing about your uncle?" Again, caught off guard, she replied that she couldn't think of one thing. I don't sense her crying at all because that would be a good thing, a break through. When Hillary Clinton was asked the same question about DT at the end of their fiery debate, she praised DT for how well he raised his children. HC's response said more about her healthy state of mind than it did about DT. If MT is truly a psychologist, she would know that this is a common yet important question a doctor would ask a patient in therapy who is embroiled in their own ruminating hatred toward another. Psychiatrists often give that as an assignment to their patients for their next session. 'Find something positive to say about him/her between now and our next session." Something positive could be said about the worse among us if we allow ourselves a moment away from our hatred. It's an excellent way to end a difficult discussion on a more positive note so that healing can begin. But when a person refuses or doesn't want there to be anything positive said about the object of their wrath, that says more about the condition of their own mental state. When no one is looking, I think MT is writing down well thought out and measured responses to those questions so that she won't be caught off guard by them again. That's what I meant. No one is saying anything bad about MT. We are only saying that there are two sides to every story. Correction, there are three sides to every story: your's, mine, and the truth.
This is the second time i’ve watched this interview and i am very impressed with this woman’s knowledge and way she presents such information about her family.

@Raymond Keller Oh come on. Before the interview even started you already made up your mind that you were going to keep believing everything she said as long as she stayed negative towards Trump..
Agree completely.
@Jen Judging someone from how they act in public and things you accuse them of doing 30 years ago + having an agenda is NOT the same as a proper diagnosis. I’d much rather be interested in hearing an analysis from someone independent - not a Trump hired psychologist, nor someone promoting their book. But that will never happen.

If Fred Trump, Jr. was considered a glorified bus driver for flying TWA aircraft by members of his family, that was a crazy analogy.
Beyond insulting and degrading to have your job as a pilot be compared to a failure. This family dysfunction is monotonous
An analogy that Fred Jr. heard from his father one way or another for most of his life. Many think and I agree the eldest refused to be what and who the Father wanted. Such a refusal to Trump Sr was treason. Fred Jr was not the sort whoever that is, who could shake off Sr.'s continuous mockery, rejection. Its not true that family members are never implicated or bear no responsibility in the evolution of suicidal ideation and action in a 1st degree (family of origin) relative. Of course the "killer" parent is a disturbed person whose spouse is unable to object or in any way serve as a reliable boundary between children and malevolent spouse. Divorce rarely works as a solution for these families so long as the crazy parent retains legal and/or custodial rights to the children.
It only seems crazy because most of us have enough empathy to understand that it's a completely unfair comparison.
Right? And yet people believe his brother cares about the working class!
The Golden Age of jet travelling, Airline Captains and stewards where demigods. Remember the movie "Catch me if you can" Probably the best job ever on this earth. How the Trump family dissed Fred JR is a shame.
My being a psychiatrist I find Mary giving an account of ffamily dynamics is so real
Mary's account of family issues as believable now seeing what Donald Trump did as President...
Jealous of things her Dad didn't accomplish was an alcoholic, there always one in the family that has to come forward
"Money stood in for everything else. It was, literally, the only currency the family trafficked in." In other words, money was valued more than love and genuine human connection. Money WAS LOVE. Ironically, a very impoverished state of being. What a sad existence.
Throughout time, men have worked hard to become an achiever and provide for his family. Men still do and many women.
