  • The Cavaliers defeated the #5 Hokies in the latest edition of the Commonwealth Clash, 80-75. Virginia Tech had already secured the top seed in the ACC Tournament. For Virginia, this is their first win over a Top 5 team since 2017 and their fourth Top 25 win of the season. UVA freshman Kymora Johnson led the Cavaliers with 21 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Camryn Taylor had 17 points and seven rebounds. Paris Clark added 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Georgia Amoore hit 8 three-pointers and scored a Virginia Tech record 39 points in the game. Elizabeth Kitley scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and blocked four shots, but left the game midway through the third quarter and never returned to the game.

The kind of super- hard- fought game where I hate to see either team "lose"...

Very poor performance by Va Tech in the 4th quarter in a game they still could have won even without Liz K (sure hope she is not seriously hurt) -- it exposed a couple of obvious weaknesses: over-reliance on Amoore and Kitley (they score or assist on almost 75% of Tech's points), and lack of athleticism and basketball playmaking ability in the rest of the roster -- there is literally no one else on the team who wants the ball and shows consistent ability to make something happen on the court -- just a lot of passing

In this game: Kitley w/ 20 pts (in 2.5 quarters), and Amoore w/ 39 -- that's 59 of Tech's 75 pts, or 79% -- the other players just pass the ball, seldom looking to score or trying to make something happen by driving the lane -- the coach has to honestly address this problem w/ the team before the post season begins, and try to find solutions

VT is much like Iowa in that they are really good as a team considering they have 2 maybe 3 really good players including Amoore VT and for Iowa of course Clark. But past each teams top 2 players their talent level drops off quite a bit with VT having the largest drop off. Both teams will win some games in the NCAAs but to win a title I don't believe either has the horses to get that done. I hope the young lady for VT is OK because without her they are in trouble.

From a report about the game (did not look at the box score): Matilda Ekh, 0 points, 0/2 shooting -- she only took 2 shots the entire game -- Cayla King was 1/7 shooting, 3 pts -- so two starters scored 3 points -- that is a big problem for Va Tech: too many players, even among the starters, either cannot or are afraid to make plays, to show initiative -- personally I think Amoore is the most valuable player on the team -- she handles the ball and makes plays, she is fearless -- despite her height (only 5'6") she has a future as a pro due to these qualities -- she's a PLAYER

Virginia has defeated Florida State, UNC, Louisville, and now Virginia Tech. They also only lost to LSU by 3 points! I think they should be considered for the NCAA tournament!

Lol. They're 7-11 in ACC play. Barely 500 overall. They lost to Wofford, Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Pittsburgh...

When you have 5 mins left in the 4th and all you are doing is taking 3’s like there is only 1min left, you will surely lose. VT might have pulled through if they just took more shots going into the paint. (I didn’t watch the game just these highlights) looked like a great game nonetheless

No no no. I want ACC to post the replay of Virginia scoring 6 points in the entire 4th against 6-24 Wake (first TO of second half came w 45 sec left, game was over). Are these ladies shaving points? Is the coach's rent late? Here I am impressed with the upset over Tech...ready to jump on the bandwagon and....I'll never watch another women's ACC game again tyvm. What a waste of 2 hours.
