QUESTION
Isn't thithing a "shadow of good things to come"? Like Apostle taught us few days ago?
Apostle said tithing (which was giving to the Isrealites as law) still applies to us in the New testament. He also said ,'but we should give more than thite in the NT'.. that seems a bit confusing sir... how come we are still bound by law to pay thithe (when Jesus sacrificed himself to set us free from law? Gal 5:16-25.. which says we should live by the Spirit,.. listed the fruit of the spirit and said 'against such there is no law' vs 23 Rm 8, as many as are led by the spirit are the sons of God. Should the Holy Spirt not led us on how much to give per time? Sometimes he asks for 100%, something 50%, sometimes 20, sometimes 10% or maybe less.
If thithing was relevant to us, Jesus would have shown us the example by paying thithe. He paid tax (to show us an example)and said... 'give to ceasar what belongs to him and give to God what belong to God.' What belong to God is definitely not 10% but our entire life and everything we own. We should give God the right to determine how we use everything we have.
Jesus never preached or paid thithe, he never commended anyone for paying thithe. But he commended the widow for giving all she had to live on, he also commended Mary for lavishing her love on him when she poured the Alabaster oil that was so costly ..definitely not 10%. Jesus emphasised loving God and giving generously because we love God. In Lk7:41-48, Jesus taught that the more we love God, the more we would give to him.
Apostle Paul said God loves a CHEERFUL GIVER and that we should give not out of compulsion (thithe looks like a compulsion) he also says he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly but he who sows generously will reap generously.
Apostles Peter, James, John never preached tithe. But they preached love, faith, complete sumbimission to God and GENEROUS GIVING to God and the needy.
In their letter to the gentile church in Acts15:22-29 ...they didnt mention tithe. They emphasised God's grace which should birth holiness in us and warned them not allow anyone impose the yoke of religious duties / jewish doctrines on them.
What I see in the NT is the principle of yielding our ALL to God..our entire life and resources, and we are to GIVE GENEROUSLY
Our giving should be motivated by LOVE for God, FAITH in him and OBEDIENCE to his word and the Holy Spirit as he leads us.
We know many preachers are afraid of saying that thithing is not the yardstick for NT believers and find means to justify it. But we know RCN preaches God's truth with INTEGRITY.
Should we pour the new wine using the old wine skin, are we still bound by law to pay thithe? Should our love for God and faith in him not motivate us to give generously and cheerfully?

Remember Jesus did speak about Tithing, although the emphasis was on the wealthier matters of the law: Justice, Mercy and Faith. In relation to the same scripture, He said we should not stop paying tithes. Please check Matthew 23:23. I hope that sheds more insight.🙏🏽
how is this still up for debate? there are 2 priesthoods in bible, the Melchizedek and Levitical. Jesus' priesthood is based on the Melchizedek priesthood that lasts forever and received tithes before the law (e.g Abraham, Jacob) thus, it has nothing to do with old or new testament realities. the Tithe is due (belongs) to God, and it is one of the forms of giving (with its unique benefits). how can you claim you're consecrated (ready to give all) to God (in a new testament context) when you can't release 10% of your income to God? that's false knowledge. tithe is basic level of giving, and if that's a struggle, then you can't handle weightier commitments.
@DukeAmbrose ... In that scripture Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees not his Disciples (so it doesn't apply to us) There were many things Jesus said to Pharisees that doesn't apply to us. He called them hypocrites for example but never said that to his disciples.
Jesus never taught his disciples to pay tithe, Jesus who is our example never paid thithe or received thithe. But He taught us to give generously.

My point is that God owns all we have and we shouldn't restrict him to 10%. The thithing was a shadow of better things to come...if it was 10%, then if we are now in the dispensation of better things... then its has to be better than 10%. Thithing today is just like sacrificing lambs for our sins. I understand if a person decides to constantly give a percentage of his income to God. But we must not limit God to 10% . God owns all we have and we must give sacrificially and generously because we love God not as a religious duty. I beleive this kind of giving has the best kind of reward.
I pray the Holy Spirit will continually lead us, guide us and help us to always do his good pleasure.

That man Apostle was addressing to sells sermons Pastor John Anosike , is selling sermons biblical coz the Bible says you where freely given , then you freely deliver I don't remember plz help us to know I was thinking it a spirit of mammon he posts small trailers when you look for whole sermon they charge you

We are in the last days. Every child of God should take heed. Many false preachers out there who are only fighting for their bellies not preaching for God. By their fruits you will know them.
