Thank you for addressing the question about tuning flute to other instruments.
Thought I'd also mention, regarding the "health" question: I know folks who have actually
been greatly HELPED with health issues by playing the flute. It can actually increase lung
capacity for some, and also help those arthritic fingers. Clearly anything medical is individual, but just wanted to mention the up side to this.😃👍💗💕💞

Hi Jonny. Thanks for all your smashing content. Happy Birthday too. I live in Cornwall UK and came to flutes as part of a healing journey. It is so expensive ordering flutes from the US (postage and tax) that I have started making them myself, using the Grandfather Method. I have made 16 flutes so far and it’s quite a learning journey but fascinating. Great questions (and answers). I have noticed that you celebrate all flutes and tunings. Also that some people seem unhappy about 6 hole flutes as opposed to 5 hole. Playing (true pentatonic?) 5 holes, for me at least, seems to bring me feelings of being closer to nature. Is the ‘real’ Native American Flute a five hole?
Way to go overcoming your availability problem! I'm sure you gain an extra level of joy in playing a flute crafted by your own hands. Both 5 and 6 hole flutes were made by Indigenous peoples as far back as they can be traced. 6 hole flutes are not a modern invention but the current tuning standard of A440 is.
