  • A review and several cleaning demonstrations of Ecovacs new mopping and vacuum robot, the Deebot X2 Omni. This high end robot vacuums and mops the floors at the same time, auto-empties the dirt, and washes and fan dries the mop pads.

    Really good review as always, I was very curious about this when it was revealed. I hope more robots come along with this form factor.
    Looks like an excellent performer to boot!

      Thank you! Yeah the square design comes with a lot of benefits.

      To tell you the truth it needs a bit of refinement which I think can be resolved with some firmware updates. Specifically mapping and navigation. Also, even with AIVI turned off the edge mopping is less than desirable. I do agree that the main mopping (not including edges) is very good. I have one room that is a sun room with a sliding glass door and the vacuum does not go directly over the threshold and insists on banging into the glass.

    Would be nice to see a review of Eureka E10S.

      Just looking into it, it looks like an average robot (fine but not great), with a dock that makes sense (bagless, multi-cyclonic, and low-maintenance). Would be fun to cover!

    Awesome review.
    Ok, your the 1st that I've seen to place the robot on carpet. I've tried this with the Deebot T-20 and it appeared very confused. Highly considering the Deebot X2 omni if it doesn't have a issue with the carpet. You had mentioned that the Deebot X2 had a little issue with placement on the carpet. Would you mind sharing and how you fixed this. Thank you in advance. You answered alot here for me.

      The X2 doesn't have the issue being set up on carpet (at least on my carpeting). My only concerns having it set up where I do, is it will lightly wet the carpet when going out and returning home. Also, if the water tray ever clogs, that could potentially create a mess on carpeting (it's happened to me with other mopping robots), so be sure to check and clean the water tray regularly.
      There's a few things that probably apply to the T20 docking station as well as the X2. Make sure it has enough room around it (at least on one side like how I have mine), and that the area isn't too complex. I originally had mine set up next to a doorway, and that confused it.
      If you move the dock and try another spot, run the initial mapping sequence again, or it'll still be confused.
      After mapping, in the app settings, turn off the AIVI 3D feature, to see if that helps. It's touchier with it on.
      Because the T20 has auto-lifting mop pads, it should work set up on carpet, but it needs a good map to work with, or it'll struggle. Hope this helps!

    What alternative mop solution can be used without clogging up the vacuum?

    Nice Video! I have also got a x2. I only have got one question: does the app tell me, when eg. the side brush or dust bag has to be changed?

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  5 месяцев назад

      The app does offer that info, but I would also just check them periodically.

    What would you recommend for a 4 bed 2 bath 50/50 carpet/tile apartment? My budget is $150-$450, and I want something that’ll self empty. it’s about 2,000sqft.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think Dreame makes the best lower-priced self-emptying robots, so probably the Dreametech D10 Plus in that price range. They have the best nav, are easy to get going, and work well.
      Roombas clean carpeting the best, but the nav is sloppier (still good but they bump into stuff as they clean).
      In that price range I would get a Dreametech or a Roomba and see how you like it. Hope this helps!

      Mine initially had issues returning to the dock, but moving the dock and re-mapping it solved those problems. Without a good map, it can really wig out. That's too bad about it getting stuck on the garage carpet. Lots of robots will struggle with really thick rugs, but in your case it may be something else. Are the rugs black? Robots sometimes don't like black rugs, and can't identify them with the sensors.
      Hope you can get it working, or get a replacement under warranty through Ecovacs!

    The cleaning sink is full, It was on for fuckin 20 minutes… makes no sense at all. I understand now all the bad reviews

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 месяца назад

      Oh no! That’s why I worry about having it set up on carpeting. These self-cleaning bots are definitely not maintenance free. The sinks can clog with debris and need to be checked regularly. If it’s putting out too much water, I would contact Ecovacs about it, as it’ll be under warranty.
