There is solid proof in this video, and while yes, lightning is more powerful and can create fire, Jay would not be able to replace Kai as he does not posess the ability to control the fire as they are enheritly diferent. Lightning has different properties than fire. Not to mention that fire is a gas and lightning is a plasma, already making it very different when looking at the two on a molecular basis. Also, by the logic that was brought up in this video, Jay would be useless also as Lloyd's energy is far more powerful than both Kai's fire and Jay's Lightning as Lloyd's elemental energy is all of the 4 OG ninjas' powers combined into one, making Lloyd more powerful than them the rest of his team (with the exception of Nya).

Fire is a chemical reaction, not a gas. Gas can combust, but so can things like wood.
Kind of miss when the season was just about the story not one specific charcter ngl
I hope season 16 is a Kai focus season so that he gets the chance to prove to the audience, everyone in the show and more importantly himself that he is relevant and important to the team. I know it seems like season 16 will be another Jay focus, but I hope they touch on Kai wanting to prove his relevance

Incorrect Jay when angry/not holding back its the 3rd strongest ninja, Kai is the weakest ninja hes been slowly getting weaker since masters of spinjitzu ended.
jay could never beat an antagonist using his power but he used his words like nadakahan and unagami while lego never gave kai an actual archnemesis to unlock the full potential of kai @@sones.
There is one thing I can bring up to defend my boy Kai. Te angrier he gets the stronger his fire becomes. When the ninja where fighting the ice dragon in ice chapter he literaly oneshoted the thing. Noone could even harm it. On a normal day his powers might be under Jays, but whe he gets pissed thats a whole new story.

I mean, they are red and blue, and they also have some kind of friendly rivalry imo, Kai could generate plasma from fire to possibly create stars and black holes, Kai doesn’t roast Jay to put him down, it’s a friendship dynamic(Kai smiled at Jay when he called him expendable), and in the first seasons they usually went on missions together. So… I don’t think Kai is letting Jay down, it’s just a friendly rivalry

Yes Kai is insecure about Jay in the show now. The writers seem to prefer 'dark kai' from season 4 over Kai's actual personality. You can see that a lot in recent seasons look at the way Kai acted when he was being corrupted by the staff of elements and look at how he acts now. We're stuck with dark kai these past seasons and I don't like it.

@@drdelebor9997 No it's not. Kai should have been long over his jelousy over the green ninja. That was the whole point of his true potiential arc. He even reafirms it in season 2 when he says "there's only one green ninja" when LLOYD wanted Kai to help him with the overlord. Then season 4 acted like that didn't happen and made Lloyd 'call out' Kai then did the stupid staff of elements scene. Dark Kai is garbage that never should have existed.
I do not believe Kai is useless, I saw a comment on this video stating that Kai’s power seems to be empowered by his emotions and maybe after nya disappearance Kai is at borderline breaking point i think. I do believe Kai may be one of the main focuses or the main focus
Not really its the same from all the ninja Jay was able to send U.N.A.G.A.M.I's titan dragon flying cause his emotions empowered him Cole was able to take out the lava monster because of his will to save the Geckles and the Munce. Kai is by far not the main focus, its currently Nya.

I have big hopes that when he comes back to himself and not like a villian , he will unlock some few things for himself and be more powerful and can continue doing things with the team and be the coolest ninja , and i would 100% dislike the fact if they replace or remove Kai from the team , all i hope is that they keep everyone in the team and just continue the show
This is a very interesting analysis! I had never really took into consideration that Kai's reaction to Jay could be due to jealousy. But now that you bring it up, it makes sense. My only question is why hasn't Kai been insecure about this before? He only started mocking Jay from season 11 and up.

It might just be new writing, personally I feel like Kai’s character has changed quite a bit from older seasons. Sometimes I feel like some of his lines would have been Jay’s in an older season?

I agree with the fact that Kai powers are not needed but not because of Jay. Since fire is stronger than lightning. Instead the fact of Cole having lava arms that can melt things and Lloyd having green flames and can light up things.

How is fire stronger than lightning? The hottest flame is a blue flame which is up to 1650 degrees Fahrenheit and lightning is 50,000 degrees…

It's always been hard for me to find good use in kais power, Lightning is much hotter than fire is, and even though kais fire has a wide radius and more splash damage, energy does that just as good, so that just makes kai completely outclassed, causing him to compare himself to others, especially Jay.

fire is more destructive than lightning , Compared to other elements
its a form of explosion so it shatters earth.
Fire is a plasma and plasmas conduct electricity. This is because in a plasma an important portion of the atoms are ions. This means that there are free charges on the plasma that move if a voltage is applied to the plasma, this creates a current . Meaning that kai can revert the lightning away and flames will travel through the lightning . and all the damage that lightning causes in real life are all fire damage so Fire does more damage than lightning

First, this will increase the pressure and the temperature will be much higher higher, and the water will evaporate in a fire vs water fight

Veryyy interesting perspective here, i always just kind of saw it as Kai joking around a little, but this puts a completely different spin on things that could definitely be explored in the future. Plus after seeing those clips at the beginning, i realise how much of a bully Kai is to Jay lmaoo. Great vid!

Kinda do hope the next season acknowledges the last two seasons really revolving the impact of Jay and sorta tests that. I really do feel like there is much potential addressing their sorta rivalry they've been having lately even in the beginning of the latest shorts.
Lloyd could technically start fires to if he has all the elemental powers of creation combined and can really have a lot said about him

I mean yeah recently Kai has been downgraded when compared to Jay especially when Kai lost his powers temporarily when Jay kept his I mean this can also be shown specifically during the time when they swapped the scroll of forbidden spinjitzu to the other ninja Kai's powers didn't react at all and him losing them and being weaker for once really put him down mentally as he felt like he couldn't protect anyone as shown by him trying too hard to bring his power back by force as he wanted to bring the part of him that made him special back

Interesting video it was cool to see the old intro again also it’s good that Kai got his powers back in season 11 right also Kai wasn’t the only one who wanted to be the green ninja Jay Zane and Cole also wanted to be the green ninja as well

I think you have it mixed up because, Lets say Nya had full control over her Ice powers, Zane wouldn't be needed, because even if he had a stronger version of water, Nya has control over Ice and Water.
If Lightning is a stronger version of Fire then Kai could possibly control lightning. Also Kai's fire can explode so jay loses in power there.
Either way Nya and Kai probably will never control Ice or Lightning fully.
I do believe Jay's element can't create fires. Maybe If it is already really hot, then maybe.
But Tommy andreason, co creator of ninjago States that each ninja has something special about them that makes them unique and balanced. For Jay it would be his strong Lightning powers.
For Kai it would be that his Fire explodes
For Nya it would be that she can talk to sea creatures, and she controls water, not create it.
For Cole It would be that he needs to use existing earth, which is not a problem but also it is easiest for him to do the Spinjitzu burst, and use his advanced earth abilities.
For Zane It would be that Ice is usually stronger than water, and can beat almost any other element, but almost any character can break out of being frozen.
For Lloyd, it is his main character powers and plot armor.
If Lego Ninjago was like avatar the last air bender there would be no need for Jay cause the fire benders could redirect lightning.

Jay and Lloyd can't control fire in itself, only start it. And they can't just use more power to start a fire, it'd destroy whatever they are trying to set ablaze. Also you can't set certain things on fire, but Kai can just make it appear.

Why is kai at the bottom? He is still the leader for me. The creators just ruined his character so lloyd could get the spotlight because kai is overrated.

Lloyd started a fire with his powers in S8, he can also use energy to charge up things, I mean his power is literally energy. All their powers have different uses. Jay can't control the fire he starts, and he can't easily spread it like Kai. Jay also can't heat up things.

To be Fare though kai hasn’t had a main focus in so long that they could give him an ability that trumps even the most powerful villains that they have fased in previous season’s like fusing with a star although that’s just a theory
Ok remember in the ice chapter where Kai unlocked his powers and destroyed the ice dragon well jay was using lightning and it was ineffective against the dragon but as soon as Kai tried it it worked
2:18 Keyword: "Dry" vegetation. Maybe the firewood in the village wasn't so dry and couldn't be lit up just by a spark. And Jay's lightning isn't more powerful. Moreso it's an alternative that could have some similar properties of fire but can't do half of what fire can do. Kai can control the fire he uses but Jay can't control the by-product of fire. And as said by another commenter: By that logic, might as well throw Jay out too since Lloyd's power element overpowers both lightning and fire since it is quite literally twice as powerful *and* doubles as a light source.
Also Kai did Kamehameha the ice dragon in FS Ice Chapter when Nya and Jay couldn't beat it. So if there was ever another ice threat, Kai would be the best one to stop it.
Alsobin the season where they try finding Zane in the season where the one guy wanted ti turn himself and his follovers into that obe kind of snake (sorry that i cant remember the name and number of that season) but they had tonsteal the powers of all the power users , at the scene where kai gets a hold of the staff and uses it a few times and Lloyd asks him to break it he doesbt and his eyes glow but then he snaps out of hus power hungry state and breaks it wich kinda confirms that kai still wants to be the strongest one
If Jay has the more powerful form of fire, explain why in the ice chapter, only Kai could defeat the Ice emperor's dragon checkmate.😏
Fire you could argue is the weakest element out of the 4, and water of course. It was season 1-7 Kai’s determination that brought him up to the other elements. Why he was chosen for fire and not water.

You know, sounds possible to me. Even going back to Season 1, if you remember the dream Kai had about Green Ninja, you can see that, you can see him using Nunchakus of Lightning, prob hinting at him fearing Jay would overcome him and become Green Ninja

Lightning can cause fire, but fire can’t cause lightning
Well in the newest season it seems kais fire was overpowering jays lightning so while jays can create fire and has more utility with shocking people and effecting technology, kais is more powerful as an all out damaging move.
Kais power is similar to Lloyd’s jays and coles tho. But coles is more magma which is more of a solid/liquid. And prolly wouldn’t cause as much damage as kais would. Jays is more precise and less damaging and Lloyd’s is more for defensive utility.
jay confirms in crystalized that his lightning is 10000 volts which is enough to harm and possibly kill someone but its not very likely to start a fire because you need at least 10000 volts to create a one inch spark, which is highly unlikely to start a fire especially in the neverrealm
Jays lightning is more powerful than 10000 volts, he just for some reason never uses his full power and is holding back.

This was a very interesting analysis but I think that Kai is not only anticipating Jay for his elemental power but also due to the fact that Jay has a romantic relationship with Nya. Kai is very protective to Nya and this kind of rivalty is because Kai believes that Nya moved on with someone else and he is afraid that his sister will be hurt

If only Kai, Zane and Jay got their own secret forms. Cole already has spinjitzu burst, Nya has the sea form and Lloyd has multiple like Oni. Jay could get some kind of clouds, Kai could get blue or even black flames, and Zane would get his true potential powers.
I’ve always thought jay’s powers are the most useless (next to nya), most of the times he just kinda zaps people, Kai actually creates fireballs that explodes on impact

Lightning is more powerful than fire element because lightning can heat the air up to 50,000 degrees fahrenheit (5x hotter than the sun!). This is lower in the series as lightning is nerfed. My facts may be wrong so please correct any that are wrong.
And that just shows that Jay litteraly only sending small bolts can destroy someone and Kai needed to create alternatives and build his attacks to become stronger and yet he's still lower than Jay.

I mean in general kai can be powerful if it the situation needs it. It's not like he is weak or has less experience, his personality of being hot-tempered and impulsive adds to the strength of his element, imagine all of that pent-up rage adding to how he took down the ice dragon thing in the one episode.
The reason he's becoming useless/irrelevant is the plot could easily carry on without him which sounds crazy and untrue but think Skybound, Seabound, Crystalized, and Prime Empire, those are the major ones where he didn't contribute much to the team. Mostly just the first three but it all leads back to Jay and Lloyd. Almost any time it's focused on him, he is competing for the spotlight. Season 4, It was his jealousy of Lloyd being the green ninja being unburied. With how put aside he is throughout the show imagine they just kill him. Like at some point some big villain makes it seem like Kais dead for half a season. Sure, it'll be sad and the characters are going to have a moment and all but it'll move on.
Nya is going to go to Jay for a shoulder to cry on. Lloyd is going to be upset at himself and his inability to protect his friend. But Cole, Zane, and Jay don't have that close connection to Kai so it won't be as 'impeding' than as Nya because that was her brother but she has someone, she has Jay. HELL, WHEN SHES LEAVING INSTEAD OF GOING TO HER BROTHER SHE GOES TO JAY! IMAGINE HOW CRAPPY YOUD FEEL THAT YOUR SISTERS BOYFRIEND WOULD GO TO HIM INSTEAD OF THE PERSON WHO PRCTICALLY RAISED NYA!!! It pissed me off tbh, but its whatever. And Skylor isn't shown to have any permanent relationship to Kai or romantic other than for just season 4.
He barely knows his parents. They most likely be the most upset beside NYa which is upsetting but they have each other. KAi doesnt really have anyone throughout the show. He had Nya but she apparently puts Jay above Kai now and he isn't really shown to have a best friend, romantic partner and none of the ninja are as close to each as they were before. So yeah, he's kind of useless now :/ just saying if the creators get rid of Kai its not going to distract from Jay, Nya and Lloyd, hate for the show to focus on cough cough Cole, Zane, and Kai cough cough ://///

This makes a lot of sense. My sister and I don't really notice how much Kai picks on Jay. We just thought it was because Jay likes Nya so Kai just had to pick on him like the older brother he is. It does bring on the thought of the pilot episodes though. Kai disliked Cole, Jay, and Zane (but mostly Jay and Cole) and maybe it's because he was irritated at what they say and all but maybe it's because they seemed to have a bond that he has never had before. I know this has nothing to do with powers but, friendship is very important to Kai, look at seasons 5-10 and then you see it a lot after that but you mostly see it in Crystalized and Dragons Rising.

Yeah lightning in general could be more powerful then fire but this is ninjago and as you said jays lightning is different and jay and Kai fought 2 times in ninjago in crystallized jay was in his full rage mode and the only damage he did to Kai did not even tickle him but you have a good guess in ninjago we saw kai have more strength and speed like in crystallized and in season 7 and as Nya said in season 4 he never takes them seriously and is a fool to them but I think kai is doing it to tease him because kai new that he had more power and doing in because he is older by a few months and don’t even get me started on the time when kai 1 punched aspheera to who knows when and he did it with no powers but jay did because he needed it jay relies more on his powers then himself that’s how we see jay use his powers more then kai and most of the ninjas don’t like kai Nya Cole and Zane kai does not rely on his powers because he can do it while jay can’t
