Not only is Gorillaz amazing musicalically, it's a collaboration between people with different backgrounds, races and nationalities to the very core. Good luck finding something like that elsewhere in mainstream music.
Exactly! It's probably my favourite thing about them...it means so much to me as as a person who's permanently conflicted about their cultural identity. I was born from Arabic parents but I've always lived in Europe...so many differences, yet such an amazing opportunity to widen your horizon and try to find some common ground and understanding! What they've been doing with Gorillaz is almost idealistic, but it's really not impossible. We just have to step out of our comfort zones, I think. And avoid listening to shady, opportunistic politicians, be them left or right...those only think about their benefits, they don't care about the well-being of people. That's why we keep having wars...they make a hell lot of money out of them, unfortunately
In my honest opinion, you have to listen to this entire album in one sitting to get the full experience, because each song complements the other and turns the whole album in to one big story in my head.
love how damon gave all the collaborators complete free reign when it came to their musical and lyrical input, and they still manage to put together little songs that represent different journeys on plastic beach, love it!!!
Jamie was damn right about Plastic Beach not having to be a movie , the whole phase 3 concept is not about the island itself but the journey towards it (album's tour was called Escape to Plastic Beach, after all), it's a mindset to escapism every fan was involved in. So fricking meta.
Thankz for uploading thiz vid... Plastic Beach iz now one of my all-time favorite albums (next to Stadium Arcadium & The Black Album)... Thiz iz like watchin' The Statue of Liberty bein' made... The Majesty Of Gorillaz.... !!!
Jamie deserves recognition too he’s the one that brings the characters and places to life, it’s a matter of team work we need them both for Gorillaz to be Gorillaz
like, i like the gorillaz im not saying that they suck im just wondering how come theyre not doing it like before all rock and stuff with all the guitarist bassplayer and all that stuff
I think he means he doesn't like Gorillaz because it is more american-influenced than Blur or his solo work. I don't agree, I like Blur more than Gorillaz but they're still fucking amazing.
Elliott Geer you can find the full demo of it on you tube it was leaked and at 2:26 you can hear a song that they scrapped being hummed that Damon used for another project called Dr. Dee, the song is called apple carts. There are tons more songs that we don’t have complete version or had versions of that are scrapped demos or non archived songs from the old Gorillaz website. I recommend the RUclips channel blueheaven as they have uploaded a ton of Gorillaz songs and content all the way up to the first Demon Days Festival.

I want a book of all the sketches from Plastic Beach!
They 've released something like that recently
The main song of this album is eargasm for me. I'm glad there still music like this.
Wow the amount of art they keep away from the public, whish they released all the art.
I WISH THAT TOO
So many alternate versions, demos, unused material, artwork... So much I wish we could hear.
@Gavin Orth Music is art too, y'know?
We NEED this kinda art today.
Jamie: So that's plastic beach...
"WOW..."
my reaction in a nutshell
Damon is a god.
And Jamie :)
No that’s Murdoc.
@2:26 he is humming "apple carts"
Damn good catch brah
They HAVE to make a movie about gorillaz´s story!!! it would be an awesome animation :D ♥.♥
Fer Rugama IKR! I just hope they have a lot of control over it though!!!
Yeah It would be awesome!
well, it could be some kind of spinoff, rise of the ogre is the whole story and it's huge, making that into a movie would be a 4 hours lenght movie
they tried in the 00s
now Netflix of all things are planning one
That's Paul.... Simonon, nooooooo he said the magic words just now
Right when I read this they siad it 😂💀

like everyone I thought Plastic Beach was just a computer animation, amazing that they actually built it
SWEEPSTAAAAAKES!
I like how it evolves and becomes more and more sort of chaotic but it song still is in one part. Orsm orsm orsm :)
Telecasters are symbolic.
And Gorillaz thaught me that.
I have the same model of guitar Noodle has.
DAMON THE GENIOUS

Damon is like the Elon Musk of music..
Hey, don't insult Damon like that.
what happened with the songs that didnt make the album? i wanna hear them lol
I'm trying to build a Plastic beach model, it's going good. But it's nothing compared to Jamie's
That's what I've been wanting to do 🥺

The intro secton where Damon explains why it is called Plastic Beach is pure Spinal Tap ha
thanks dude
wish they had kept that brass line in broken would have been awesome
gotta love mos def.
Anyone care to explain what the hell is going on with those trumpets at like @7:20?
As a musician myself, listening closely reveals that it is definitely his style.
I want the extended version of Broken!!
well 2:40 is 'Sweeptakes' and the song what starts around 3:25 is 'Plastic Beach'
I'm Dying for a P-Sides right now.....
@elgaragehermetico It's Electric Shock I THINK. It evolved into Rhinestone Eyes anyway.
that was a rumour. the band are working on a new album as we speak
@TheBeastWithin6 It had a darker sound, but Plastic Beach, though more polished, is no darker in its undertones.
I think Damon should produce Mos Def's next album.
This is the highest like to dislike ratio I’ve ever seen
@KimoraTimmerman Hey, I saw no-one replied! It's a dvd that came with the 'experience edition' of Plastic Beach
@crazypoptarts09 it was Murdoc who kidneapped 2d..i think the guy in ths video is theguy in stylo..maybe
What's the name of the song with that trumpet
What's the name of the song they were playing horns on at about 1:43?
Bangaz22 Eletric shock
But there is a certain version
SWEEPSTAKES! YOU'RE THE WINNER!
Que hay? muy buen video
espero que lanzen una segunda parte de este album, en verdad es genial!
Pues... ¿Humanz te sirve?
Hope electric shock's gonna be on P-Sides I'd be really disappointed if they're not gonna release it
Which song at 1:45?? The trombone is amazing
Lorenz Müller electric shock, but the trombone isn’t in it, they just did that part in the documentary

I'm pretty sure that's Plastic Beach.
Nathaniel Emm Is this the Making Of that comes with the limited edition you have?
It's amazing that they actually built a real model of Plastic Beach! I always thought it was just computer animated!
I don't know.
Have you seriously not even watched it yet?
I was waiting to watch it with you. I told you that.
I thought you got that CD like years ago though.

@marklee17 Plastic Beach
P sides? lol
Oh
can anyone tell what song was playing around 3:35?? please??
Plastic beach(the song)...
thank you so much!
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
I love Damon and respect his work but Gorillaz is the only of his project than I'm not into...I think is an american product not my cup of tea...
Wait... Since when is Gorillaz "an american product"? Or am I reading that wrong?
I think he means he doesn't like Gorillaz because it is more american-influenced than Blur or his solo work. I don't agree, I like Blur more than Gorillaz but they're still fucking amazing.
Toffeebomb
Oh, ok. Thanks.
wut. what would that suppost to mean
LOL no dislikes
Yes because Gorillaz is the best ever and nobody dislikes them except for Trump lovers
I feel like Damon Albarn just wanted to stay relevant and realized the only option was to befriend a bunch of black people.
Salvation is found in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ loves you all
IN THE MIDDLE OF RECORDING DID THEY JUST KIND OF LIKE "FUCK IT, LET'S HAVE A SNOWBALL FIGHT."
It helps the creative process.
More like taking a snowball

R.I.P. electric shock :(
Damon Albarn is pure genius. The Plastic Beach project is a top tier master piece. For me is better than Gorillaz first amazing two albums.
The Gorillaz are the Beatles of this millenium.
Yeah I said it!
No wonder they’re my favourite artists.
